      I'm a muslim and this is nonsense, it's mainly directed to the christians, she talked so much on history of christianity because we all know that chsrtianity is not consistent. why didn't she tried to do the same for Judaism and Islam. because judaism is not a missionary religion anyway and Islam is hard to find contradictions in it. this whole thing of new cult called "Unitarian Universalism" only goal to turn people back on their religion. I mean if someone says like she did "if God is good than no one goes to hell" well where is the morality in that, are you telling that person can murder and do anything immoral on earth and still go to heaven ? where is the restrictions ? so i'm just gonna believe there is one God and you're not adding anything to it that makes it just an empty religion.
      i don't believe in christianity, i don't believe in trinity and jesus as god but i still believe there is some truth in christianity because there are god fearing christians and that's the most important. even in Isalm, we teach that the only thing we must fear is Allah and that's what imposes morality because no matter how powerful you can get on earth, Allah will always be more powerful so you must fear him and not use your power to commit bad things on earth

      For an excellent account, see the Wikipedia piece on Unitarian Universalism. And to get the flavor of the worship experience, very many congregations have their services live as Zoom webinars and recorded on UA-cam. All Souls in Kansas City does this well. My own congregation, White Bear UU in the Twin Cities, is getting better at it.

      @@lucilovecraft1621 hell is a place that is away from God. Thats all hell is. Do you believe we have a spirit? That voice in our heads that even in when having a brief sleep apnea when your brain is asleep and your body cant be moved part of you wakes up and tries to wake up the body. Your inner spiritual mind. Do you believe in that?
      I believe it because i seen them as a child. They were about 4 of them and a one woman. Having a conversation. They didnt know i was standing there and i was fronzen cold scared. Lady sees me turns to the others and nods her head in a way as saying look over there. The 3 gentlemen look at her as to say what?? As they turn their heads toward me they get up and run towards the wall. I shout to my mom screaming and running with the thought they are behind me as i run. I grab my mom hard screaming and screaming even after i reached her. I never forget that event.
      Bible says demons are just spirits without bodies. They dwell in others. In the bible two man ran into Jesus in their walk and they knew Jesus was going to cast them out when he saw them so they pleaded. Please if you cast us out at least cast us into the pigs that were there. So he did.
      Seems to me that life after death is terrible without a body that they had to cry out to at least cast them into pigs.

      @@lucilovecraft1621 well you should it's all over the Bible it's not for eternity but for a. Of time deserving of the crimes you have done and to a certain extent but then the fire does Burnout Jesus says that they'll be as ashes underneath my feet that's what Seventh-Day Adventists believe that is not an eternal fire but a fire that burns you until it destroys you but it's not Everlasting
      Don't get me wrong I agree with Unitarian belief as far as Jesus not being God but they have a lots of era in their teaching like for instance they don't want a weekly Sabbath because they claim they don't know when the beginning Apparition started and if you're a Christian you believed the world was done in 7 days and in the first day with the beginning creation and end the last day was the end and they act like they have no idea when is written so plainly in the scriptures this is not a Christian Church this is a multi Universal Church of religion me and you could be Buddhist and you'll be saved Jesus says the way to get to heaven into the heavenly father is through his son for he is the life and whoever does not believe the Son of God is one who came to redeem them and who should be worship they are not redeem and they do not receive life
      It is so hard to find a church that actually sticks to everything the Bible says it's so hilarious that church does not exist on this Earth for instance there are many churches that preach that you go straight to heaven when you die but the bible really says that you rest in the grave until the Awakening when Christ returns for the people who are falling asleep in him and to raise to the sky to meet the Lord in the air but then you have churches of priests otherwise but abbey church has an error it's sad and true

      @@rj-jp5vu Generally speaking, we believe in peace, love, happiness, getting along with everyone we can, and saving the world. However, I can honestly say that my interpretation of "Scripture" is pretty literal, which is why I personally believe that Christians worship the devil. Well, all Abrahamic faiths worship the devil. So let it be written, so let it be done? If you disagree, take it up with Jesus` dad Jehovah, YAHWEH, El Elohim, or as I like to call him; "the most horrifying and evil devil monster I have ever seen, heard, or read about. If this monster truly existed, it would be our moral obligation to hunt it down and kill it!

      Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them. Ezekiel 8:18
      Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame. And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile. Nah.3:5-6
      Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces. Malachi 2:3
      As an example to parents everywhere and to save the world (from Himself); God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten, perfect, and innocent Son, to be tortured and killed, as a ritual blood sacrifice; to appease Himself, so that He could forgive us for the sin, He originally condemned us to in the 1st place. From the beginning of Adam and Eve in the Garden, God, gave laws to both Adam and Eve about what is lawful and not acceptable. There were no immediate threats to their person, if the disobeyed, but consequences if these laws were not followed. Unitarianism seem to allow choices that have no negative consequences. Naturally humans, like children want pleasure without pain, but there is no such animal. Lust is always packaged in pleasure that the gods always promise their disciples plenty of if they are worshipped humanely, not spirtually, which cannot be measured by reason. Therefore, lust, will always be desired over, a “pie in the sky” ideal. The history of Adam and his posterity, is a history of lust, war, and theft, justified by each god, the version of history creates to justify their rational concept of “human rights”.

The people that I came in contact with at my local church tended to be socialists and social activists with an anti-capitalist agenda. Also, I found many of them to be closed minded when they were confronted with facts that went against their belief systems. For example; me, as a free thinking Libertarian was not welcome within their social circle and that was fine because I had better places to go.

    What I’ve heard here just now, resonates so well with what I’ve been always thinking about. How liberating it is to hear the names of Origen and Pelagius without those gruesome titles of being heretic ? but with the honorable apellations of being the ancestor ?
    So that’s the point, I think, the difference is being closeted, or being openly accepting and manifesting, and, of course it’s a lot healthier and fun, when you opt for the latter.
    Though I was more inclined to what I was hearing about Origen, as long as one remains in the traditional boundary, you can’t be ok about yourself, have to hide yourself, keep one’s actual belief secret, like it’s sin. By calling onself « a Unitarian », by giving oneself that name, now you have this revolution, no more hiding, but coming into the light and revealing. How awesome should it be ? And naming was the Adam’s business.
    I haven’t joined the congregation yet. I think I will soon.

      you've likely read little on the subject from historical orthodox Christian sources; As someone has said the doors of hell are locked from the inside. what if there is one true God-- and God’s action in this pattern are: “If what you really want is existence outside Me, outside My will, outside My knowledge, I will let you have it.” A person can say to God, Leave me alone. And God will ultimately say, OK. I will leave you alone.
      The ultimate result of that, when a person finally and utterly wants to be left alone by God, that’s Hell: the ultimate consequence of a persistent and settled rejection of God’s grace and God’s presence. C.S. Lewis put it like this: The doors of Hell are locked from the inside.

    A very fine talk. I can excuse her for misrepresenting the theology of Arius, but you can research that archaic debate if you like. As for the Edict of Torda, it may have been the first official proclamation of religious tolerance, but during the 16th century the Polish authorities enforced de facto religious tolerance. Instead of persecutions, there were public debates on theology. A bishop once tried and attempted to execute a heretic, but was prevented from doing so by the intervention of armed gentry. Catholic peasants burned a Calvinist chapel and were severely punished, and the bishop started a fund to rebuild it. This made possible a haven for Unitarian scriptural scholarship at Raków, resulting in many publications, including the long and scholarly Racovian Catechism, published in Latin and circulated through Europe. This influenced many thinkers, including John Locke, though Parliament in 1652 ordered all copied burned. . . . Just sayin'.

    Essentially Unitarian Universalism is whatever you want it to be as long as it is considered tolerant and beneficial to other people. This sounds like a win win belief system(or lack thereof). We can choose to believe something because we like that belief system(or lack thereof) but we must ask ourselves some very important questions: does what we believe line up with ultimate reality? Does our explanation of reality actually match what we see in the world around us? Are my beliefs(or lack thereof)consistent and non contradictory? Is there such a thing as objective truth and if not what is a legitimate transcendent standard for morality that we can apply universally and what do we base this on other than our own subjective minds and preferences? It seems that the very concept of Unitarian Universalism undermines itself.

    As a scholar of religion/philosophy and history and even if I really like uu Its rejection of trinitarianism a bit petty...
    There Is no value neither positive nor negative to Arius, he believed a thing other believed another stop.
    Also, the doctrine of Arius was considered wrong because even if more simple (and more simple doesn't mean right) like other heresies made the sacrifice of Christ meaningless or at least much less meaningful and important.
    The Christian Creed Says that God incarnated and through his son died for our sins and this Is important as if Christ wasn't the son of God and God incarnate God is simply another deity that sends a prophet to die to do his bidding, there Is no connection It's only a god that couldn't bother to lift his almighty ass to save his children and decided to tell some guy to do something.
    Look every religion developed in a precise and unique way and by what I like to call Religious Darwinism, the most convincing and meaningful doctrines survived and that was simply what most reasoned With the Mercy, caring, parently, maternal, sacrificial ethos that characterizes Christianity I don't blame you if you are a Neo-arian maybe that Simply chimes With you and I'm not going to be the one that takes that away from you because "It's bad" but religion is a very complex field to delve in and we should always treat It with the proper care.

      The irony is that Origen developed the Trinity and considered by her to be the first Universalist. So her sermon alludes a union of Trinitarian and Anti-Trinitarian.
      I also think Origen's idea of Ultimate Invisible Being and Logos (reason) and Holy Spirit in all humans comes close to what she is saying, which is the Trinity.

    REASONS WHY THE CHURCH OF CHRIST IS THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH
    1. You can read about it in the New
    Testament. (MATTHEW 16:18;
    ROMANS 16:16; ACTS 4:12)
    2. It has no creed but the Bible, binds
    no name on members but Christ’s.
    (ACTS 11:26; l PETER 4:16)
    3. Its acts of worship are patterned
    after New Testament examples.
    (JOHN 4:24; ACTS 20:7;
    I CORINTHIANS 16:1-2; EPHESIANS
    5:19; COLOSSIANS 3:16)
    4. It teaches that UNITY can be
    achieved on all doctrinal disputed
    questions. (JOHN 17:21;
    I CORINTHIANS 1:10; EPHESIANS
    4:4-6)
    5. Its future: Eternal Glory with Christ.

    This is a good sermon, it does question your belief. In my belief, I do believe in a god but not a Christian god. In many Christian churches I went to form namonational to demonational, and they all have there diffrent versions of the afterlife but don't know for sure, because the concept of an afterlife to us humans is theoretical as in we don't know for sure just believe that there is. And one thing about I do understand, Hell to me is we make are on hell in this world as we die to me the concept of hell there doesn't exist. But this church does have some points and they might have answers to some of the questions that were trying to find in ourselves. Don't judge them to quickly just for one post, because you haven't been in there to here more and see more.

    I am Unitarian, it is definitely religion. But to be it religion , UNITY of us all must be our creed/ faith/belief. Unity of the COSMOS should b considred a fact, our rational human observation. So Unitarisnism is not just a leap of faith, it is a leap of ultimate rational human observation.! Calling it a rational religion is quite rational. Many Unitarian churches do not realize something simple--- it is impossible to call someone Unitarian unless/until UNITY is considered equal to CREED in other religions. How any one can be Unitarian ,unless he/she believes in UNITY at Universal level of rationality. I am Unitarian, I am Universalist---and I believe in it with a rational brain. I m what the name says it is---so simple.

    • @houyhnhnm1411
      @houyhnhnm1411 4 роки тому

      Unity may be your creed, but the point of Unitarian Universalism, which enrages so many Christians here and confuses many others, is that the denomination has no creed like the Nicean Creed, for example. The goal is not for everyone to accept a preapproved creed but for everyone to develop their own beliefs. A common phrase is "the free and responsible search for truth and meaning."

    • @atiqrahman7289
      @atiqrahman7289 Рік тому

      Nicean Creed is irrational. Creed of Unity and Universality is a very rational Creed. Who can deny the UNITY of Cosmos, unity of humanity---- UNITY OF US ALL is the fact. But this NICEAN CREED does not make any sense---- GOD, HOLY SPIRIT and SON are co-equal---- come on---- thus is all irrational and "theological, creedal non-sense" Nicean Creed in 325 A.D. is created by irrational, over-zealous priests. UNIVERSAL UNITY is quite rational and sensible.

    Jesus said, " I am the way, the truth, and the life." "No one comes to the Father except through me." If you are a Christian, this is rock solid, and what we build our foundation upon. There is only ONE WAY, and that's through the death, burial, and resurrection(in the flesh) on the third day. Paul said, "I teach Christ crucified." We are all sinners, and need a savior. Our good deeds are like filthy rags to God. Its not what we say or do, but what God did for us through his only begotten son, which he sent, because he so loved the world, to save us from his wrath that will be poured out an upon the wicked. (sinners without Christ)

John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

      @Mohamed Yasin Biblical Christianity doesn’t believe people are born guilty because of someone else’s sin (Adam). That’s nonsense. Adams sin caused the fall of humanity and the curse of death in creation, but the Bible teaches that each person is judged for their own sin. Therefore nobody is born guilty, they become guilty at the age of accountability when they are aware and conscience of what they are doing.

    As a Christian I thought her sermon was not so good. she needs to do better history research and get the facts straight. As I listened to her sermon, she made a good number of false statements that are common tropes among the ill-informed anti-religious populace, told a number of superficial stories that mix conspiracy theories with legendary anti-Christian tales. She spoke a little like the people who claim that Christmas is really the worship of Horace, or some other deity of ancient paganism. Then she appropriates a number of famous authors (probably unjustifiably). All in all, her presentation is very superficial silly stuff. And, of course, she lays claim to every 'good' thing she can think of as the product of little threads of UU proto belief all through history. What a horribly distorted account she gives. No wonder she wants to have the symbols of every religion she can think of on her "mural" - the wall behind her. It's a bad example of unitarian Universalism, I suspect.

    Unitarianism (from Latin unitas "unity, oneness", from unus "one") is a Christian theological movement named for its belief that the God in Christianity is one person, as opposed to the Trinity (tri- from Latin tres "three") which in most other branches of Christianity defines God as one being in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.[1] Unitarian Christians, therefore, believe that Jesus was inspired by God in his moral teachings, and he is a savior,[2][3] but he was not a deity or God this is the right Christianity before it's being misrepresented

      If you ever find your Bible scholar; could you please ask them these 10 questions for me? Thank you so much! :-)
      a)When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
      b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
      c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
      d) Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can’t I own Canadians?
      e) I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
      f) A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an Abomination (Lev 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this?
      g) Lev 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
      h) Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev 19:27. How should they die?
      i) I know from Lev 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
      j) My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev 24:10-16) Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair as we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
