While I do enjoy Matt's videos always entertaining, I have to admit that whenever the game involves upgrade/gambling, he's quite painful to watch as there's 0 strategy in his choices. Just tunnel vision to get "better" X as quickly as possible while hampering himself by not using anything that could help him along the way.
and this concludes the life and times of engineer matt,an existence defined by futile struggle AND HE DOESNT REGRET A SECOND OF IT *maniacal laughter and dies*
The worst enemy of RCE isn't architects, his real enemy is greed, I hope RCE never bets in a casino, seeing his decisions in this game, betting and making future decisions is not his thing.
Yeah, it's not like the highest tier is better it's literally what it is, "higher tier" Imagine if he uses all the +30% hellfire damage and he should've gotten so much damage instead of getting a stupid gold he regrets anyway
Matt pulling the architect: “Who cares about usefulness now when I can dream of bigger things” Deck plays reality and craps on Matt’s architectural dreams.
I was looking for this comment. His choice was 2 towers that weren't his damage type focus, or a card that could massively upgrade his damage, and he completely ignored it.
This is why it hurt when he sacced the "divine sight" (increase range by 10%), a card that afaik you can't get other than the starting hand and iirc no other way to raise that stat, at the very start.
@@Timithydwolftbf, I only played it ages ago, so stuff might have changed. I saw a huge load of cards I didn't recognize, or that were changed somehow. So might no longer be true (but as I never saw any other range increases in the video, I assume it is).
Sunder can be descent if you max out the range and focus on damage, but its quite hard if you're focusing just on them. If anything you need to add other hellfire damage to such a build.
Oh... He got rid of Monkey Brain... It looks like it says "discard" and not "destroy" so potentially that card could have been a +60% damage to all sources every time he drew it. Plus he got the card twice in the run... oh well. Not sure if it would have been good though.
Hey Mat @RealCivilEngineerGaming, since you like puzzle games I can highly recommend you "A Monster's Expedition". Three you have to build a lot of bridges 😉.
hey i just wanna tell you that you’re videos have had a big influence on me and are a big reason why I’m applying to college as a civil engineering major right now
Gets rid off all the cards that increase hellfire damage by 30% to try and get better cards, which, statistically wouldn't be better than raw damage at this point. Choses tower slots late game instead of increasing attack speed by 40%... Instead of increasing all towers attack speed by 40%, adding a slot, at best, means you increase your overall dps by at MOST 25%... VS attack speed, which ultimately almost doubles your dps per tower. Smh.
Day 7 of me asking matt to play Minecraft ( like my main comment too somehow ) U will get a lot of views on it too compared to any other game so think of the money matt and make the video.
Did they roll back some changes, or is RCE playing on a very old version? I haven't played for weeks, but last I did you didn't use cards for your starting structures, you just pick before your run starts, and the game completely stopped time when you were in build phase rather than just slowing to a crawl. I doubt they would have rolled that second one back considering they explicitly said it was a bug...
Day fifty nine of asking Matt to add the Second Narrows Bridge, Ironworkers Memorial to the Wheel of Bridgetune It is a cantilevered truss bridge, carrying 6 lanes of traffic from Vancouver to North Vancouver in B.C. across the second narrowing of the Burrard Inlet. It's name comes from the fact that it collapsed twice during construction, which unalived 23 people in total (Hence the name, ironworkers memorial).
i love how he died in the ring of greed and him being greedy trying to get the higher cards lmao

Thanks for being the number 1 shithead to ruin what happens. Saw your damn comment before even starting the video. But I know how it ends now!!

Moral of this video is don't let your engineers gamble.
It's best not to let them off their leash. You don't want them gambling, or messing on the floor.
The worst enemy of RCE isn't architects, his real enemy is greed, I hope RCE never bets in a casino, seeing his decisions in this game, betting and making future decisions is not his thing.
its physically hurting me how much of gambling to do nothing hes doing
Right? Throwing away good cards because he wanted something higher tier.
Yeah, it's not like the highest tier is better it's literally what it is, "higher tier"
Imagine if he uses all the +30% hellfire damage and he should've gotten so much damage instead of getting a stupid gold he regrets anyway
And thus we learn that RCE has a gambling problem
Matt pulling the architect:
“Who cares about usefulness now when I can dream of bigger things”
Deck plays reality and craps on Matt’s architectural dreams.
Well, everyone has dreams of bettering themselves. Even engineers can dream of becoming Architects.
I love that clippy the paper clip is in the game, as he said, it truly is hell.
The Golden Monkey Brain Matt discarted was such a loss, 15% damage per card on hand for all towers and garrisons would have been amazing
I was looking for this comment. His choice was 2 towers that weren't his damage type focus, or a card that could massively upgrade his damage, and he completely ignored it.
As the saying goes, "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." And that's all I'm gonna say.
The fact that you're in the hell means that you're the main architect there
All those chances to get better health or regen and Matt didn't pick a single one...
That’s not really the problem this run…
@@Freestyle4evr Ya he was throwing away actions early trying to get the advance structures leaving only stones to upgrade his structures.
Only RCE's gambling addiction can stop the forces of Hell!
(Which, in this case, allowed all the architects to escape.)
Matt going all in on gambling for higher towers was... An architect-level move.
I cannot believe the number of times you threw away a "Discard your hand and increase tower and garrison damage by 15% for each card discarded" card.
monkey brain, i saw that card and was speechless he didnt pick it, now i'm playing the game to right the wrong
@@MrAlex173 I think he legit just didnt read ANY item cards and just assumed every single one was useless or something lol.
Sunder doesn't seem like a good card unless you can increase it's distance. Neat game though.
This is why it hurt when he sacced the "divine sight" (increase range by 10%), a card that afaik you can't get other than the starting hand and iirc no other way to raise that stat, at the very start.
@@feha92 That's good to know. I was thinking of picking up the game so I like to have some strategy when going in.

I like how he explains the games before starting. Few people do that
6:40 BUT it says on the card that it increases BOTH?
Oh... He got rid of Monkey Brain... It looks like it says "discard" and not "destroy" so potentially that card could have been a +60% damage to all sources every time he drew it. Plus he got the card twice in the run... oh well.

As a dad, I really like the bluey reverence...😂
Really fun when Matt comes back months later to games. Never expect it.
He skipped “Guns of God” twice. From what I remember, at least one was a GOLD Guns of God. JUST USE A FEW GARRISONS, THEY SEEM TO HAVE INFINITE RANGE!
Hey Mat @RealCivilEngineerGaming, since you like puzzle games I can highly recommend you "A Monster's Expedition". Three you have to build a lot of bridges 😉.
I was legitimately expecting this to be the sequel to the hellgineers episode lol
I love seeing RCE in the learning phase of games. He's learning what works and doesn't work
I would be tempted to upgrade everything I could also, but you have to use your mana(?) every turn. It's a wasted resource otherwise.
at 17:08 if you used monkey brain you would have gotten a 105% damage increase to ALL damage.
Ik right! And he was 100% going to get it each 2 turns 😂
@@shawnhiggins1005 I'm just saying he chose 30% boost to towers only instead of 105% boost to everything. He was clearly throwing.
@@Yogi_Bear69 he tossed that card twice thought the run apparently ☠️ once was even when he choose towers he couldn’t use
@@shawnhiggins1005 Oh I know. I watched the entire video.
6:32 love that movie, just watched it a few nights ago with my Mema
I recently graduated as an architect. I cant wait to make engineers do all my work 😊
you mean "tell you that your design has zero structural integrity"
Motorway Matt is truly doing the Lord's work by keeping those architects in Hell.
Yeah hypnodisc was one of the best engineered robots :D i rebuild it with lego as i was a small kid
The fact he just impulsively wants to upgrade and pushes off upgrading is low-key infuriating
They updated leaf blower revolution. Please take a look back at the game
My night mode red filter made me read the title as "Erectic Ork" and I am not surprised RCE would've play it.
This is Dante's Inferno! The levels are the same as the circles in his poem.

It's a fine balance of upgrading cards but keeping the % buffs and using them when you can
2:19 Mom! Dad! Bingo! Bluey!
Monkeys brain was probably the best option with how little he keeps in his deck ☠️
But he's already got a permanent one with him at all times!

Please, more of this game Matt it's neat
If you get a mouth on Gluttony.... what do you get on Lust? You know, you might have to censor that level.

I feel like a fairer title would be containing the architect menace.

This is likely an older produced video. He played before the fixes.
I found out about this game because of this video.. it's well worth it!
So much so that I would pay more for a big asset update & or a sequel!
Matt MAYBE have a gambling addiction
Love this kind of vid! Awesome choice for a game!!
It's like keeping antifurrys in hell.
I wonder how old this video is.
The cards and mechanics have been tweaked a lot since it was shot.
As an aspiring architect, I don’t know to find this threatening or entertaining 💀
Tbh he's quite a dum-dum to be an engineer. But then again, he is a civil engineer after all 💀
Can’t believe you didn’t call them “turrets”, not even once.
Looks like a neat game, didn't make it far in due to flashing
need to try only garrison see how that works out..
Is it just me or the Intern looks an awful lot like a certain CEO of hell?
I wanna see him play Portal Bridge builder
Man was holding onto a 60% Hellfire increase and didn’t do anything…oof
I wish this game was available for mac
On the third level, anyone else notice the Wendy’s sign? Or was that an upside down mcdonalds sign?
That was some awfully architects gameplay you've done there😂

This is pretty much rounds but single player
Is there a more noble task?
matt, you do know that you have to use the cards to get the benefits of them, right? even if they are a 15% increase in damage
