Hey man if it was 1800 you damn near stole it! That is a great deal for that truck. Definitely worth it. I recently bought a 92 4WD 22R-E with the extra cab for 5400. It was more than I wanted to spend but it is godly beautiful. Really well taken care of, the inside is spotless. It has 180k but runs as if it was new. Keep us updated on the truck! I LOVE to see these little trucks still running at 300k+ miles.
Bought a 1994, same exact truck otherwise for $1800 here in Louisiana in May 2012. Mine had an engine rebuild around 215,000, but otherwise has needed work. GREAT DEAL. Dealers & junkers here in the South say our Mexican neighbors buy these up and take'm home.
yeah you stole that! I know the feeling, i picked up a xtra cab 92 with 130k for 3g's. So far put 45k on it with NO PROBLEMS. I love what toyota does for me!!!
i just picked up a 90 toyota, extended cab but same as this. box is rusted out, front fenders are rusty but frame and cab are good. i only paid $200 for it. i was thinking of using it as a field truck, but it only has 200,000 kilometers on it and im starting to think i want to drive it on the road. it needs a clutch. worth it?
I got a 85 2wd long bed that came out of Maine. It needed a undercoat on the frame but never got it, so it's got rust holes. But mine's a standard 22R (no electric injection or pump. No powersteering either.) and 132,800 on the odo. Runs great and it's my little project truck. Though wish it had the 4WD so I can take it out in the winter more, but it's still a fun truck either way.
hey sorry i didnt see this video like you asked, i was in Afghanistan. I love your wheels. i want to do something like that with mine, start toning down the chrome content and start doing the base of my tailgate, runningboards etc in that bedliner stuff, not to mention the bed itself. Got to love a truck like that. underside looks about like mine, probably a bit better. once the crap is off it, a spray of undercoat should keep it lookin pretty good. sweet truck man.
i got my 89 on tuesday, has 289 thousand on the clock, and never had a major over haul, just regular maintenance as the car is one owner, he had it new with 48 miles! has some rust, but a lot of it was gone over with sheet metal and then smoothed out with paste. and pushbar already on it! but i am planing on replacing tires, and overhauling the engine when it starts to die. first car i bought with my own money, first manual as well, so hopefully i get to drive it another 300+ thousand miles.
@BigManlyMan4 i did. i love what you did with it. i had an 88, blew up the motor. i miss the truck so much. was averaging about 22 mpg with a 3 in lift and 31s. lookin at getting another one. currently driving an h22 honda but its just not as fun. id take a clean toyota any day.
Having a Extended cab looked over by my local shop to see if it is ok to buy. This vid makes me think that if nothing is really wrong, I'll take it. I found a coolant leak and a loose drive train. But My under carriage looks way better(not to boast). I think I'll like this better then a Subaru even though I'm a diehard fan. We will see. Thanks for the post I'm in Colorado and lived in Maine for seven years a long time ago. I remember the winters and they are nothing to what we got here.
@ThePrimaFacie Naw man no worries. Im not going to get angry if your truck is in better condition :P. Post a video if you buy it! Im going over my truck right now doing the whole frame with POR15. Check the product out its great. It prevents rust forever if you do touch up every spring. In a week or so im going to order a new head. I did fix the head gasket leak but I want to replace the head to freshen it up a bit. Thanks for the comment man! What year is you truck?
$1800-that is a good deal. I've got an '86 w/ a 22RE, 213K (rebuilt at 180K). Did the head casket years ago, pretty straight forward. But their is a long, & I mean long allen bolt hiding under the intake manifold. Went out & bought the Toyota shop manual, which saved a lot of time. Take care of it & it'll run forever.
Hey bro, word of advice go for the Toyota hands down with the 4 cylinder engine. They are great on gas and I believe are amongst the most reliable vehicles on the road. Just make sure. I have a 92 with 183k and it runs like a champ. Super satisfied with it.
I bought a 24 edition Toyota pickup paid $1500 for it and so far sank $1580 so far into it it had a blown head gasket but all and all I thank it will be a good truck all iv heard was great thangs about theses trucks so hope it’s a good one
@ThePrimaFacie Yea toyotas do have steam come out of the pipe alot. But if it smells sweet then you are burning coolant. Whats the price you are getting it for? I am going to use the same intake that is on there. and I do all my own work. Whats worn on the from suspension? And how many miles are on it?
@BigManlyMan4 Ok thanks.. seems like it shouldn't be too bad.. do you ever get a dead leg from driving longer distances with that amount of space? i'd like to know because it would need to be my daily driver and i tend to drive longer distances all the time..
@HedgehogOutdoors I love it! Ive been rust proofing it, welding in new metal and POR-15ing the crap out of it. Today I welded a small patch in the tailgate, and rust proofed it. I will have a video on here soon of me Herculining the bed :). Im getting around 22-24 MPG with my toyota. The tires are 31's which throws the mileage off a tad on the odometer. But id say around 22. Not terrific mileage, but hey for a truck thats pretty good. The old 22res last forever too. Thanks for the sub man!
Timing Chain was fine. Its the camera, it picks up noises that arent loud in person. I did replace the head, and all of the front end components. I have the Rock timing kit from engnbldr. runs like a dream now! Check out the video of it now. I pretty much rebuilt the whole truck.
mine has 238 thousand and some yeah always gets used every day driver for my dad but i drive it on the farm every weekend saturday and sunday i put an average of 30-50 miles on it in one weekend so pretty good for a 12 year old do you think so??
hey man very nice truck for the price, couldnt believe thats all you payed for it. again nice truck ill have some videos of my yota doin some offroading in the next few days but till then see ya later man. nice yota!
Actually depending on where you live. This truck was rust free and came from the south, im in maine and it is pretty much impossible to find a truck in this condition fro under 3000. He also had 1200 worth of tires and rims put on before I bought it and every sensor was new. Plus a new radiator. It was a good deal if you knew how it is up here. Blue book yes, youre right its only a 1500 dollar truck but no one sells a truck based on bluebook value.....I know you wouldnt take 1500 for it aha.
@BigManlyMan4 Cool! I am thinking about herculining most of the whole truck if I get one. I haven't heard of anyone getting that high of mileage in a 22RE, that sounds pretty good. I also want to build a flatbed, bumpers, wire up some KC lights and all that fun stuff. Is it expensive to herculine the bed?
update on truck? still have it? i just bought 1 91 saturday. it was from montana, older couple, no rust or rot. has 167k and i paid 3000. Im happy with it, but those damn plastic guides are busted so thats my project. to replace with metal ones. Sweet truck! Im your neighbor ova here in new hampshire
oh yeah if you repaint it and stuff and then wash regulary if you have time i usually doesnt rust out the only part on my 95 that has some rust is the back bumper so just trying to help i subbed
Its a nice truck. I get 25-26 mpg. In a jeep you will probably get 16 depending on the model. I like my dads wrangler but its bad on gas and its not the most comfortable thing to drive in the winter. Its cold and loud. I Love my toyota and wouldnt own anything else.
how tall are you? im 6'4' and i wanna know how well you fit with the stock bench seat seeing size comparison about how your legs fit.. please let me know im trying to get one within the next week from an auction..
My friend in the fire dept. has one like this, 2wd, a year older, but has a little more rust. His rear bumper is taped together. My distant relative who owns an auto shop and still crawls under cars at 69 years old has a brother w/ a 2wd one too. If they ever sell, I will make an offer. The one that belongs to the distant relative's brother has a raised tail light on the cab. Did a certain model come with it? Yours doesn't so i was curious.
@HedgehogOutdoors Its not too expensive actually! I got the 6 foot bed herculiner kit for 70 dollars. Its usually 90 but I got a 20 dollar mail in rebate. Its just a matter of doing the liner correctly. Just read the instructions and follow them 100% and youll have it last a long time. The POR15 was expensive. it was 200 dollars for a gallon of the paint, and a gallon of the degreaser and a gallon of the metal prep. I want to get some lights aswell, but I like the bed on mine, its in great shape
You still have this truck? This was my second vehicle these trucks are very light and do poorly in slippery roads. Mine was standard cab with same color just like yours except mine was RWD. But it did horribly in the winter. I had to add bunch of sand bags in the rear to get some traction.
@BigManlyMan4 thats not too bad at all!, i wish i could say the same for my jeep cherokee 4.0... great engine.. only if it could get over 20 mpg consistently
@groundpounder247 No problem man, thats a very important reason. I appreciate what youre doing. I have done the frame with POR15 and the whole bed in Herculiner. I also fixed the tailgate and am not doing the underside of the bed with POR15. If I were you id use POR15, look it up. Its the strongest stuff. I live in maine and the winter didnt touch the frame on my dads jeep. It looks really good still, no rust. I will post a new video of my yota when its done :). Thanks for the comment!
just bought the same truck, a 94 red pearl regular can with the 22re, 5 speed and 4x4. Unfortunately I paid $7000 for it but then again it costs alot to get a super clean low mileage toyota. Love it but that 22re is a real ticker, its not a quiet engine in any sense
@LinguraDeLemn93 Nope never seems to bother me. Im comfy in it. I drove 4 hours and I was fine. Make a video of the truck when you get it. Also check out the rebuild of this truck and see what it looks like now and tell me what you think.
@TheHondaAbuser ive just read alot about them blowin head gaskets alot. But I have nothin really against them. Peoples problems with something are usually caused by them. I love toyotas.
@gsachse1 ahahah I know it! I love it! I think im just gonna replace the head, because if its not the head gasket I dont want to have to pull her apart again. aha.
@jesseb251 Thanks man! I love this truck :D. Im doing some rust repair today and will make videos of the process. Stay Tuned! Ill subscribe to you so I know when the muddin videos come up!
That thing is beautiful! If I can find one I'm definitely getting one. Where I live you either buy American or get your ass beat. I think I'll get my ass beat haha. What kind of gas mileage have you been getting in this? Like if you granny it? I'm subscribing right now.
@Countryman984 I saw yor vids it looks fun. I painted it with something that will never get weak and chip or rust through. It will rot if you dont do any maintenance like you said. I just fixed the problem for good and wont have to repaint it or wash it regularly. 30-50 miles is a hell of alot of miles for just farm driving. Looks fun man! Thanks for the sub. I uploaded a new video today of my toyota. Check it out if you want.
@BigManlyMan4 It will be a 93. The thing that sucks with it, are a loss of power, that white smoke, and the whole front suspension is pretty worn. I know for the price that I would get this for, it's a good deal but I don't know if I wanna have a money pit?. You Gonna go to a junk yard and find a "new " intake? guess your gonna do all of the work your self, I think I could but I don't have the tools let alone the money.
Check out the video of my truck after I did a bunch of work to her. Pretty much rebuilt the entire truck. Post a video of your truck man I want to see it. Im working on a 1983 toyota 4x4...turning it into a rock crawler/woods rig but still have it road legal. And I have a 1994 toyota ex cab 4x4 that im restoring and may sell. Check it out tho! Thanks for the comment!
@BigManlyMan4 $2250 The Bushings, grommetts and a lot of grime and grease from them so I really cant see what all is wrong. I think that the shoe's are safe. Radiator leak, rear Diff gasket busted and a little under 150,000 miles. AC is busted but I don't think I'll ever fix that. I'm pretty certain that I'll get it and pretty excited to work on it just got to find a shop with tools.
@HedgehogOutdoors And sorry if that doesn't have proper English, I had to cut down a lot of words and rearrange everything to fit in the 500 character limit.
Render767 yeah like no need to get mouthy and shit on someone's truck just cause your jealous kiddo it's winter probably -30 and it's on a camera that's how it sounds in freezing temperatures buckwheat.
I bought my 1993 2wd toyota pickup for 2000 and put flowmasters on it. I think toyotas make the best trucks
Hey man if it was 1800 you damn near stole it! That is a great deal for that truck. Definitely worth it. I recently bought a 92 4WD 22R-E with the extra cab for 5400. Would you Reccomend thise for a High school truck? I can decide between a jeep or this thing you have here, looks pretty awesome!

They are excellent trucks! Just spray in the box frame with fluid film and youll be good.
Beau Allen between the blown head gasket and the timing chain rubbing a hole in the part that holds the oil and water pump on so far so good

@TheHondaAbuser Nice how much lift does she have? Im not a fan of the V6, its probably a good motor, but gets a bad rep. I like the good ol 22r/re.

@groundpounder247 No problem man, thats a very important reason. I appreciate what youre doing. I have done the frame with POR15 and the whole bed in Herculiner. @BigManlyMan4 thanks a lot for the info.. and definately, if i get the truck ill make a video first thing.

I just fixed the problem for good and wont have to repaint it or wash it regularly. 30-50 miles is a hell of alot of miles for just farm driving. Looks fun man! Thanks for the sub. I uploaded a new video today of my toyota. Check it out if you want.
@HedgehogOutdoors Not a problem. If you have anymore questions, let me know!
@BigManlyMan4 i sure will!!!!!! thanks
@TheFunnybone Yes it is a 5 speed. :)
@BigManlyMan4 $2250 The Bushings, grommetts and a lot of grime and grease from them so I really cant see what all is wrong. I think that the shoe's are safe.
