DUDE!!!! YOU GUYS GOT A SHOUT OUT ON THE PBS SPACE TIME CHANNEL!!!!
ua-cam.com/video/kw-Rs6I2H5s/v-deo.html (with timestamp) for anyone wondering.
Haha yes it was so unexpected!
So glad you tested this, I just got the notification today that my preorder was ready to ship but I wanted a review from someone I trusted before I went ahead with the order. You guys were the ones who really got me into the hobby a little over a year ago, and I really appreciate the way you make this hobby seem fun and approachable. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Good review thanks getting the data and showing us
My L-Ultimate arrived this week - so looking forward to trying it!
Pre-ordered this filter almost 2 months ago, got a email Monday saying it was closed. Had to re order. Wasn't too pleased with that news haha. But none the less, I'm excited to use this filter. Thanks for the review guys!
Très bon vidéo - merci
Nice video! Well done 👍Looks like a pretty good filter.
Another great video. Just beginning to make upgrades from my skyguider. Just got my CEM26 and an Apertura 60mm. Still waiting for the ASIAIR Plus to be delivered. Currently using an old T3i for imaging. Any recommendations on dedicated Astro cam for a beginner that won’t set me back too much?
Thank you for sharing your tests!👍I will have to check out your blog about your tests as well !👍One point of clarification: The width of the bandpass (3nm versus 7nm) shouldn't affect the likelihood of getting halos. The amount & colour of reflections that cause halos depends on the amount, type & uniformity of the anti-reflection coatings that are deposited on the filter. Each coating serves to suppress/eliminate reflections in a certain part of the spectrum, so the filters that suppress/eliminate most/all reflections that lead to halos will be the most expensive to produce. (BTW, I'm looking forward to your thorough & honest review of the ZWO AM5 mount & new Radian scope!)
Would like to see some blue brought in by the OIII bandpass, but I guess that depends on the target.
Thanks for the video! How does this filter compare to the Triad Ultra or the IDAS NBZ?
Nice video and a nice filter. The stars with odd flairs seem to be toward the edges of the frames more. Is this artifact more from the rest of the imaging train rather than the filter itself? Keep doing your great job on these videos. Hope mornings are going well and happiness is just around the corner.
Thanks, and yes I also think the filter is not to blame for these artifacts, it's likely my adapter
I only have a few filters, light colors for planets and a wideband that for some reason works great for Jupiter or else I was sending it back. Light tint Moon filters, I find most a bit too dark don't you think? My optics are super high quality cuz I paid for the work on them. A cheap way Takahashi lol.
That Optolong looks like it does exactly what it claims, but is it worth it depends on the user. Do You think it is? Then it is.
What for telescope, camera did you use?
Your images blow me away every video - thanks you for your continued content :) A question if I may please as I'm still only new to this hobby - what causes the offset of the halo for the stars on the right of the image at 4:24? Around the wizard the halos appear to be very centered on the stars, but the more offset from the target, the more offset the halo appears to be on the stars itself. Sorry if this is a bad place to ask the question :)
Thanks! I think this is because I am using an adapter that is slightly too small for my full frame camera, so the stars on the edges are not pinpoint. I think the filter is not to blame for this, it should be an easy fix with a better adapter
I'm thinking the Antlia ALP-T is the competitor to this. Wider band pass at 5nm, but not halos. Hmmm, which to choose.
I think the halo on the Single frame from Omega showed a little backspacing issues or tilting as the stars were a little elongated in the corner
That is likely the case! None of the bright stars in the center of the frames showed halos so it has to be either spacing or the adapter I'm using 🤔
I was hoping to see some O3 colour
Would like to see a head to head between the L-Ultimate vs IDAZ NBZ...next vid??
If we get our hands on an NBZ sure 😅
How would you compare this to the L Extreme filter? Thanks and clear skies
I did not own the L Extreme, but I would pick 3nm over 7nm any day especially if living in a bright light polluted city, so L-Ultimate is definitely better imo
She is so pretty ❤️ God bless 😊
Nice run through on testing the filter. I think similar to you guys, Shawn's video also showed that the bright stars didn't really suffer from halos but interestingly there were occasional quite distinct halos on some of the less bright stars and I think they tended to be the somewhat redder/orange stars, from memory.
It has been found that the L-Extreme on a RASA F/2 causes a band shift, so the Ha is lost.
Oh I wasn't aware of that, I will update the written post, thanks!
Thank you for this - that's great to know :)
What about the IDAS NB1 or NBZ? I think they are the best filters available and also none of them are producing these halos.
Sadly we never tried those, it would have been a nice comparison.
Next would be how easy or difficult it is to separate the color channels from this filter in pixinsight with wbpp . That Wizard Nebula has some fantastic blue in it. Grab the OIII. Also with narrowband filters unless you add rgb stars to the image They have no color . Maybe this filter has color in the stars? And I was thinking. Telescope Live is a great way for us to get data to practice our processing skills . The Dolphin head nebula data from them came out insane for me. But nobody has put out a video on processing their data. We all improve with help from our teachers thank you.
for most hydrogen nebulae the image is comparable to the L-Extreme filter
After watching PBS's recent video, I am here
Filter is excellent: Nice 👩🏻🚀👍🏻🪐🌌🛰️🛸🚀
IT is nice, but it can not beat Triad Ultimate
Je pense que vous gagneriez à faire des sujets séparément (parfois madame, parfois monsieur). Je trouve que vous vous marchez un peu sur les pieds parfois, ça hache un peu le rythme de la vidéo.
