- A former Nyakach parliamentary aspirant will spend the weekend in police custody after he was arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta international airport aboard a Kisumu bound plane. Jonathan Okoth Opande who unsuccessfully contested the Nyakach constituency parliamentary seat on an independent ticket in the 2022 general election is suspected to have swindled two Thai nationals more than 100m Kenya shillings in a fake gold scam.
