This electric scooter was given to me by artist and sculptor Tom Sachs. I've been riding the Unagi Model One around NYC for fun, to run errands, and to make this review. It's a solid product but I think it falls a bit short given the $1000 price tag. Would love to hear your thoughts below.

I love the length of Sam’s videos. Never cluttered, just great information, crispy B-Roll, and fun topics. Thanks for another great one Sam!
thank you for the kind words grant
That’s an old Lenovo laptop charger like the one for my old X1 Carbon 🤣
seriously underrated content
yo thank you john that means more than you know
My Segway ES2 Scooter, is by far the best investment I have ever made, I get from A to B in no time, I can take it with me all places, If people don't have a electric scooter my advice is: BUY ONE, it's so fun to ride.
how easy is it to deal with flat tires?
@@sunburn74 most have rubber tires , if not I recommend getting some .
If you think scooters are dorky, we need to put you on a Kaabo Wolf King.
just googled it - that thing looks intense
It’s me Omar the person that was on ur live stream keep up with the excellent work. Am always here to support u.
I noticed you can get it to be even more torquey by kicking the front wheel spinning in the air with full throttle and then starting to ride. We got an unagi at work and imo it's a pretty good alternative for my boostedboards when it's raining and gotta get lunch.
good tip - i just used mine in the rain funny enough
*Battery life is great **Latest.Bike** Scooter . Love the different driving modes. It’s got a little headlight and taillight too. Gets lots of looks haha*
Completely agree I wouldn’t buy it out right but I use Unagi’s all access subscription and think that’s 100% worth it instead of owning. Also tried riding in the bike lane but nyc streets are too bumpy for it sometimes
Do you have a link for the subscription?
I have one. It’s cool, but.. expect under 7 miles with GOOD performance before it really slows down, the tires suck, and the charger is slow as hell. But.. handles hills amazing and ebrakes are great.
The shoe game in this video is strong ✔️
thank u
We're the best in class 😎 The Unagi dual-motor Model One is the best electric scooter for adults.
unagi!!!!!!!!
THE BEST! Meets my everyday commute needs and a head turner too when riding 🙌🏻
@@louiec9572😃🤙🛴
the only bad thing is the non worldwide shipping :(
@@Fedorforth ONE DAY!
I've been riding the Unagi for just over a month now and have certainly had the same experience as you, especially when it comes to the horn. I straight up don't use it lol - although out of the box I was able to get mine up to 19mph without having to unlock any hidden modes. Great review though! - Robin
Why spend almost a grand when you could get one way faster with much more range for way less?
@@Gameboy-Unboxings A big consideration is weight. I believe you're talking about something like the Ninebot but its almost double the weight which is a big deal for some people.
@@Gameboy-Unboxings i actually think the prices are that way because unagi allows monthly rental for the scooter. i just got it right now and it’s pretty convenient to pay for it like a netflix subscription
"Danger, danger, danger" Ross Geller.
UNAGIIIII :D
I have the Segway ninebot es3 with dual battery. For the price of the unagi. Mine was ~$570 and has way more distance and speed is roughly the same. Just not dual motors
YES BUT IT'S 9 KILO MORE! AND WAY MORE YUGLYER...
yo what are the nikes you wear i’m this video? :)
air jordan 1 low metallic navy / blue
I liked the end, btw hahaha
glad you watched to the end!
@@samsheffer always, Sam! Wish you post more often! I enjoy your videos!!
I love the little jam with the semi at the end
same
Why I can’t see this video on my Mac? Wtf
wat
@@samsheffer seriously. I’m watching on my iPhone, while on my Mac, I update your page and this video is not there (check DM on IG, will show there)
It just appeared. Never mind
Hahahahahaha
Those tires and low speed kind of seem like a dealbreaker
My friend has this one and it’s really not that slow. The thing does rip when you are on smooth ground.
@@jesseaviman I have one and it rips trough even on rough grass & wood chip surfaces!!! Very fast start in dual motors in speed mode3! & high torque beast!!!The NEODYMIUM motors have ~double the power output than regular motors🙀☝️✅👍👍😋.
It likes hills 15-20% just grinds uphills fast. Braking is v.smoith & powerfull.Adjustable strength. No sideway wheel
slips. You can depends how you handle it. It's a sleeper & you can really surprise other riders☝️😜✅.
Riding can be very ROUGH on uneven surfaces though.
What U ask she delevers☝️🙀😂👽😂😜
Anything under 20mph is just treacherous riding in traffic, you need something to keep up with cars at least 25 to 30mph,
And as for the price I could buy 2 x Scooters with more battery power from China for $1000
A decision of mine that It never changed... your work is so good,
You make detailed, honest, useful, non time consuming, good camera direction and I can go on and on.
The point is your work is awesome, stay cool and keep safe.
I have a ninebot v2 electric scooter and it does a lot of the same things that the Unagi does(minus the dual motor system). It would be cool to compare the too and see which one provides more bang for your buck. The ninebot is around half the price of the Unagi I think. Suspension sucks, though.
I just biked passed u in downtown manhattan! I was wearing the green ubereats bag with the rad power bike
I have one and I ride to work with it everyday
For a couple hundred more you can get suspension, range, 35-40 mph with 40 mile range.
This is nice to look at but that's it. iPhone of scooter? Definitely not. This thing cant compete with the majority of scooters out there nowadays.
I have had an Unagi One, dual motor scooter for almost a year. It's perfect for NYC. Park your car, grab the Unagi from your trunk and head home or make stops along the way a breeze. Also, I am 2 miles from the ocean. If you have a backpack, this sleek looking, reliable, quick acceleration & B+ performing dual motor scooter tackles hills, bike lanes & streets very well. Just remember, if you dont bend your knees, a small bump, crack in the road, especially with zero suspension, will send you flying. No suspension is my biggest issue. Reliability, speed, handling, aesthetics are all very respectable. The horn and lack of suspension are my only 2 negatives... They could change this with inflatable, high end rubber tires. I have been stopped by numerous people, they all say, that thing is beautiful, sleek, amazing, always a conversation starter. I am using this is a beach town along the CT shoreline & wherever I go, people seem fascinated, impressed & intrigued. This Unagi in dual motor mode, level 3, can easily hit 19mph for at least 45-50 minutes straight. 15mph let's you go roughly 9-10 real world miles. Riding up hills is easy & painless. The cost today is $990, delivered. There is also a very convenient subscription model, $50 down $39/month.. My only issue, you can't do much with this scooter between November & April. Stay safe, be well & ride on.. Life is too precious not to enjoy last mile riding, make your errands an adventure by adding a nice backpack, or meeting friends at the beach.. If you can figure out how to manage your purchases along the way, errands just became something that I actually look forward to. This is also a wonderful way of meeting interesting people all around NYC, beach towns, your ride to the gym. If the $990 price tag is within your budget, why not? It's reliable & fun! The subscription model of $50 down & $39/mo is a great option for budget friendly transportation (Only if you live in NYC). They deliver, fully assembled right to your front door within 24/48 hours. This is a very smart move by Unagi. If they offered this option in all major Northeast cities, this company could become a solid and viable leader within last mile transportation options. Only 2 negative factors, is lack of suspension, nice rubber tires that grip the road, absorb cracks, small potholes would create a world of difference & real world battery life of between 8-10 actual riding miles.. Keep a charger in your backpack. The $990 MSRP is a little high end pricing. I suggest the subscription membership. Customer Care is excellent. Insurance & warranty included. Unagi stands by this product. Kuddos to Unagi & thank you for your video. You hit every important fact. The subscription option is a very affordable entry point to get your Unagi within 24-48 hours, by a Unagi delivery team member, fully assembled & ready to ride. Thank you for your video!!
I’m a student and DONT have much money to spare so I thought to give subscription a try. What’s the cancellation policy like? Also really only 5-10 miles? So it’s not like the ninebot where it can go long ranges?
I love scooter tires that you dont need to worry about flats. Flats are VERY hard to change on scooters.
I think honeycomb tires would give a bit more cush, and wouldnt be hard or expensive at all to for Unagi to at least put a tiny suspension element in for at least the front wheel on a future model
Nice
Btw didn't boosted go out of business?
yes, they did
@@samsheffer that sucks, well, you can still buy them, but you probably cant get them serviced anymore
Hills isn’t something you covered and I wish you had. I’m not sure if NY even has hills but Best Buy is renting them out now and I’d like to know what it can do up hills
RIP Boosted
Absolutely not convinced. Love how you drove that truck insane at the end though.
The man… The Myth… The Legend… Tom Sachs
I'm getting this tomorrow!
Just what I'm looking for, the PERFECT portable torque y last mile solution
No hill test!!!👎👎⚠️🤬
Great review! Never heard of it!
so besides the tom sachs name, how does this scooter differentiate from the rest?
Dude make more videos
For god sake
Can’t ask Casey
But his brother is doing a wonderful job and David is out of business and you are just chilling in summer
LoL
Just kidding
It needs like way more range wtf.
And more power
I wanted to get this scooter, but all I required it to do was be upgraded with a larger battery. The speed, though not the fastest, would be good for my commuting. It's that mediocre battery range,...ESPECIALLY at that price point. UGH!
Totally agree w your suggestions of a fast charger and 22 mph top speed. Both would be a huge improvement.
I would also like to see 1 inch length and half an inch wider deck. Wouldnt effect the weight or portability much and would give the Unagi a much better feel. The deck feels very tight for peeps with bigger feet.
It’s been a moment since I’ve seen Sam upload
it sure has been
You need to try inokim scooter
Their scooters have so much powerr
Such a good-looking scooter.
Love the videos Sam. Keep up the great work! : )
thank you teddyk
lmaoo @5:14 it uses a lenovo charger! what are the odds!? great review as always! really cool you bumped into Tom Sachs, NYC is awesome
Aways like first!!! I loved the scooter!!!
you rock!
@@samsheffer Man, you make great content, you deserve to like it always!!!
Even electric longboards feel like scooters to me, since one of the hands is always busy.
eh yea i hear ya - but you don’t need to keep the one hand stuck in one place
It's comparable to Hover 1 Edge e-scooters specs. Which is a cheaper price. Without any service just a limited warranty. Unagi could do better on tire specs at least 10" tires.
Never crashed on a scooter. I have almost died riding a bike. So I would say scooters are a million times safer then a bike. Good luck riding a bike through a path of people. A scooter is simple to go through a crowd of people. Plus where I live there is no bike lanes going to work. So I have to ride on sidewalks. It's hard to ride a bike on sidewalks.
I'm surprised Sam didn't compare it to the BOOST REV. Honestly I just got the Rev last week and I really like it. I still feel the bumps but the wheels on the rev are much bigger than unagi wheels so i can't even imagine how sensible those wheels are.
The most comfortable scooter ever! So light and fast to fold the best in this category that also move fast
You should review an exway electric skateboard!
“Scooters are dorky” 😂😭
Great review Sam!
I’m so glad I came across this! I just ordered the rental one, so I’m stuck waiting for it to ship out. Haha
The “boosted” speed seems awesome though! We have Bird in my town, and all of the scooters are busted. I managed to ride one from work all the way home just to discover I had no brakes. That’s when I decided to finally order the Unagi.
I’m pretty excited honestly. $55/month is better than $50+ every paycheck for Bird. Plus I can keep inside at work (my boss is already aware of my plan lol) do I don’t have to worry about tracking down scooters when it comes anymore! I plan to just plug it back in when I get home from work each day. My hope it to never need a Bird scooter again 🤣
How do you like it? I'm thinking about renting one until I can buy one. You're right, 55 a month isn't bad at all
@@phatplates I really enjoy mine! The only scary thing was driving it through snow. It can be done, but you MUST go slow. Also my kickstand rattles now. It works just fine, but it’s loose. The roads in my town are awful and shook the crap out the scooter too much. If you get one, just try to avoid bad roads if possible. I’m often putting about 10 miles a day on my scooter, so the fact that it holds up around two months later with busted roads is a miracle imo 😂
Hello, very nice video ! Can I use excerpts from the video (without sound) to illustrate what I'm saying in my video?
This is for a french presentation video. Thank you for your reply. Yours sincerely 😉
I can stomach the slower speed, but the range!!! that's sucks.....
Handlebar is actually magnesium not aluminum. Deck is aluminum
I have the ninebot max g30 and it's really good and very smooth while riding through rough terrains,
How do you secure it? Do you carry it? What's that like? I'm thinking Unagi is the better bet because I can carry it to prevent theft
riding a scooter through nyc looks so much fun
That charger is the same port as the older thinkpad chargers. lol
Hey anything beats walking around a 90° campus
check out the levy scooters! they are pretty good scooters too!
Does this scooter have a tracker on it? In case it gets stolen. A price like that I assume it should.
If scooters are dorky then what about skinny jeans lol?
I would love to see Casey test out all these fun things too, I miss him.
This unagi scooters are more expensive than the segway ninebot and offers less speed and miles range!
EVERY TOY SCOOTER IS PORTABLE. THIS IS NOT A SELLING POINT.
Would 30 min be to far to drive on this scooter
And they want $990 for this?
Nope
Best scooter review I have ever seen
Such an iconic ending, I loved that!
Is this good for 10 years old boy?
the razor e300 is better than unagi
God bless yall, Jesus loves yall and He wants you to be saved 🙏 John 3:16 romans 10:9-10 Have a blessed day yall 🙌🙏.
God doesn't exist. But have a good day anyway! 😊
Dorkie yet you have a i watch lol.
E Board are way better than Scooter... Dorks ride Scooters... remember 2000 when Razer came out... Dorks road them . Eboarding looks way better
i got a unagi e350. Single motor one. I got one for myself and girlfriend for when we take a weekend trip into the city to get out and about better. The scooters were on sale at bestbuy for under $500 each. Its nice and does what its supposed to do well. For us, its a very good travel scooter.
At home tho....... i use a VSETT 10+ or lectric ebike lol.
Is Tom Sachs as much of a cult leader/slightly crazy person he appears to be in that terrifying "Bullets" video from way back?
Nice review. Thanks
FINALLY a HONEST review ! .... I AGREE , STEP UP THE SPEED AND A FASTER CHARGER .
THEN IT WOULD BE NICE , FOR THE PRICE !
LIKE THE CUSTOMER SUPORT THING .
OH , ... PLEASE UPGRADE THE TIRES TOO .
I have a ninebot Max a and it's a much better all around unit for NYC. Twice the range even when ridden aggressively, pneumatic tires, larger overall size, basically waterproof, built in charger, and it's cheaper. Sam, I live uptown next to central park if you want to take it for a spin.
Excellent. Thanks.
Sam
What’s good.
hi daniel
@@samsheffer can’t talk to you anywhere but here haha. Life away from social media.
Have you ever thought of reviewing any of the rideables that go 40 mph+?
Ayyy!! IG gang where y'all at??
:D
What the best scooter ?
How does it compare to Apollo Air Pro in bang for the buck category?
Oh no I wish I would’ve saw this before I ordered mine. Dang
Returning mine next week, the range is horrible.
Specifically, how much were u getting?
Too expensive, too slow. Get a gotrax gxl for $300 instead
So there's not an option to carry a spare battery to swap out when you're somewhere without an outlet?
Nice, test
Nice metallic 1s
Love your content!🔥🔥
thanks 🔥
Onewheel pint all day brobro.

1:20 I’ve never seen parking like that. Awesome
that's in a store lol
I'm guessing you mean the car storage in the shot after? Looks really cool! Kind of like those automated car parks in Japan
yeah I meant 1:21 my bad lol
I need this to make my party goods deliveries.
