- We got a new tool on the farm today to get rid of stumps and (eventually) make compost and grind hay and feed for the cows. Now we just need to learn how to use it.
LMAO! All part of the learning curve. Get everything spinning at full power BEFORE you add stuff.
I drive by our county landfill fairly often and I see these GIANT tub grinders working to break down acres of tree and yard waste. It's mind blowing how they chew up massive oak trees. The excavator guy mixes in ordinary brush with those massive stumps and branches, presumably to keep the grinder from throwing stuff out the top.
We've learned a lot since then.

Yeah sometimes. We are learning how to correct that. Needs more stuff in it.

More input! If you don’t keep the tub full or nearly full, all the chips fly straight up.
The problem is that the tub tends to jam if its full and then it takes a stupid amount of time to clear. It took some time to figure out the proper rate of feeding. We MIGHT have a little more flying up now but it can grind for hours without getting jammed. Our stuff is really dirty and the dirt makes it a challenge for sure.

Bah. This was a long time ago---- the tub grinder has ground a lot since then. I'm sorry I wasn't an expert at the beginning.

No one has died. Give me a break- people do things all the time that other people disagree with. Bull riding. Sky diving. Shark cages. We are just trying to work over here. Christ, everyone is a big cry baby these days.
