This was a fun episode Brent!! Nothing like getting an abandoned, tired, and left for dead vehicle running again! That is pure satisfaction right there! Keep up the good work!
Nice old truck find. And getting it running. I myself own a 55 Chevy truck started restoration in 2000 took 6yrs on and off work back to factory. 6 cyl 3 on the tree. Your truck looked a lot like mine when I started it made me smile. Keep up the good work.
I am just coming to the completion of my year long 57' resurrection. I have managed to keep the truck 95% original. Repairing and recycling as much as possible. I kept all the bodywork as is to reflect its 63 tears of life. I even painstakingly repair welded every original bed strip to keep the originality. The electrics gave me the runaround, but I worked through it, replaced all the lighting loom. It's been a challenge, but I learnt a lot about these trucks, and I'm not a mechanic! Replacement parts made in the USA are good quality, any where else are rubbish. My advices seek out old new stock, good second hand parts and repair what you already have. They are great trucks, testimony to the days when these trucks were built for a job to do and last. Everyone loves my truck, and it makes me smile and others smile!
54 years old. Here in that truck run brought tears to my eyes. There's nothing like that old 6 cylinder. Hear it Rumble that sounds like no other I am trying to find a gears that old long stick shift nothing else like it. It brought back a lot of memories me and my dad running over 67 Highway tromping around trying to find a good fishing hole. Well that's going on to heaven trucks being sold for years. But that truck brought back such good memories thank you for getting it started running around in it. Ernie Terry. I wish I could afford it when you're finished with it. But I can't.
My guess was 261, the heavy duty extra cost option - like what, $67.50 extra? Sounds like small potatoes now. Really impressive that it started after all that time, and with no smoke. Six cylinder Canadian Pontiacs used the 261, a mere 4 C.I. smaller than the Chevy V8, starting in 1955. My 261 powered 55 Pontiac had appreciably more grunt than the contemporary 235 Chevy I compared it to.
Yeah, I would never take the original engine out of a running classic car. If building a custom saves a non-running classic car from the crusher then I'm all for it, but if the drive train has survived intact for 65 years, then it should be left alone. When they get to be that age, there aren't a ton of original runners out there.
Looks like a big win to me ,very happy for you Brent . 6 in a row...way to go ! So nice to open a hood and see everything ...there isn't a cover that covers a cover that covers another cover .
Love those ol trucks...picked one up in Edmonton in the early 80's out of a storage unit. Buddy had a fresh 327 in it never started..hooked up to a 4 sp saginaw. Finished putting it together and drove it around for the rest of summer then drove it straight back to New Brunswick no problems. Fixed her up some more and made a summer driver out of it..won a cpl trinkets at shows with..good times!
Nothing wrong witha bit of "influence" when a Fella is dealing with a stubborn lump of old rolling rust ! Either way, you always get it done and I love all of your line of Ladies you got parked up in your yard ! They make me dream of those Golden days they represent !
Ahh shes Awesome! Sounds sweet, Good job Brother 👌🏻 I'm rebuilding a 53 3100 over the pond in England Mine was sat since 79, running sweet too, good ol six packs keep on rolling 👍🏻
Awesome, lots of times old and new vehicles get parked for simple things like brakes , clutch and a host of other minor to us but major to someone that can’t fix it themselves or can’t afford to pay a shop to fix it . I’ve bought many cars that when I asked why your not driving it the response is ..it’s needs brakes and tires . There is deals still out there . Thanks for sharing.
I have a 1957 Chevrolet Apache 3100 1/2 ton step side pick up that was my dad's ranch truck. I got it when it didnt run and still have it today. I love those old trucks. And now I have dad's other truck 1963 C10 fleetside. I hope to get that one on the road too.
You never know with something that old what you will find out to make it run. You obviously have been down that road a time or two already!! Great job!
Just because of the simplicity of the truck, either leave it stock or put a small block/auto combo in it. I like it the way it is Mr. Car Hoarder who gets all the sweet cars! 🤣🤣🤣
Great old truck Nice fix on Carb, We had one on the farm 2 1/2 ton Grain Truck with hydraulic Dump Bed. I got to drive it in 65 when i got my License and I would haul Corn and Beans to the elevator while Dad would run the harvester. I always liked the body style but it was way to big to Hot Rod. So I found a 47 Chevy Coupe and put a 57 Olds 371 and Hydro in it. Good old Video Thanks, Dennis in Virginia
A great two tone RED & WHITE PICKUP TRUCK !! I’d rebuild the engine and put in an AIR CONDITION UNIT so I can have cool air when it’s hot outside !! I would love to fix the body in the original condition !! I love the original very simple engine !! Thank you 🙏 !!
I'm very glad that there are people like you and others who are bringing this kind of beautiful truck back to life, otherwise a whole culture would disappear. How much can this vehicle weigh, and how much fuel does it consume (I will calculate in liters myself)
Good old legendary Stovebolt 6 very dependable looks like it was converted to a 12-volt with an alternator it's not even burning oil it sounds great that motor good find 👍🏼
Yeah '56 Chevy trucks didn't have 5 speeds unless they were one of the really big trucks, but I doubt that's what you're referring to. They have an SM420 4 speed with first speed granny gear.
Brett, the rear tag said Friendly. Here in Dallas,Texas there's a dealership that's called Friendly Chevrolet. That's where i brought my brand new 2002 1500 Chevrolet Silverado LS extended cab 4 door small back doors.Love My Truck.Take care of you & yours my Canadian friend.
Tri 5 Chevy trucks are very popular, easy to get parts for, and look great, fixed up in a number of different ways. All the way from bone stock to pro street. Your possibilities are endless. Look forward to seeing what your vision is for it.
I didn't think you could get the Buick running but you made a believer out of me had no doubt about the truck! Be nice if you could find the glass for the Buick.
I completely agree but a better point to make here is nobody is going to want a 2020 vehicle in 2030 let alone in 2080 but this truck will still be sought after then
Nothing like an old school start up, I really enjoy those moments. That cameo Chevy truck looks pretty solid and those blue flame engines always start no mater his condition. I'm sure that the carburetor have the circuits clogged with gum from the 87' gas.
You got her going in no time. Love the front end, the headlight brows on these old trucks! Great video.
This was a fun episode Brent!! Nothing like getting an abandoned, tired, and left for dead vehicle running again! That is pure satisfaction right there! Keep up the good work!
Can’t believe all the cool stuff you have sitting around

You should share a few pics of it so we can see what your truck project is like

Those old six's seem to run forever...great job!!!
Love seeing you drive out of your campsite with all your projects patiently waiting to be touched
She was a little grumpy, but you showed her who was boss...It's nice to see those classics wake from the dead.
And die again in that long line....

I'd love to have it and I would definitely leave the 235 in it !! that's a beautiful piece.

Agree
The only change that I would make would be do a Napco style 4x4 conversion for back country fishing and camping trips.

Just watched this a second time. I want a 55/56 in the worst way. Currently bogged down in a 67 C30 shortbox i'm building. Keep up the great videos!
I like those straight sixes. Nice easy access power barn, enough horses and a cool sound.
Well, that was 26 minutes and 46 seconds well spent! Thanks for the post.

Can't wait to see them running, best of luck, thanks for sharing 👍
That Chevy is sweet. I've always liked the '55-'57 body style. Awesome find. I can't wait to see what you have in mind for her in the future.

I learned how to drive in a 57 Chevy apache.
Love the truck, keep the 6.
You keep on coming up with trucks on my ist of wanted ones! It makes me a little envious to be honest. Thanks for the video!
Finally. A project that you’re doing that’s younger than me.
You never know with something that old what you will find out to make it run. You obviously have been down that road a time or two already!! Great job!
This truck is something special now.
My parents dad a '57 Chevy pick-up. This brings back memories. I know the 55 & 56 Chevy trucks look the same...
I like the dash in that truck. It looks cool 👍👍🇨🇱
I love the new truck man. You got a real gem there. Good luck with it.
Right on..love those old trucks👍👍
Oh yeah drinking beers and working on old cars and trucks Life is good doesn't get any better👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

The first pickup truck I ever drove was a 55 model very similar to that one. Love those old trucks 👍
What a great recovery, thanks! I think that beluga hood in that year is one of the better things GM did.
One of the better things GM did to that hood, in 1957 they added a pair of twin 50's for protection !
Ahh man my favorite year and style of chevy trucks

These were 12 volt when new.
Grandpa had one, my cousin bought it when he died and fixed it up. 5 speed manual, A/C (He lived in Phoenix at the time) split exhaust...
Naw, 4 speed with Granny.

That's a nice truck and not in bad shape more than restorable
That's a solid looking body for sitting all that time
Pretty straight too.
All the little parts are there.

Drinking the wobble pops while working on projects, makes it that much more fun!!
I've never heard the term "wobble pop," but that is now my new favorite term for a cold snack.
Dig, Vice Grip Garage
Love that truck. I would like to restore something like that. Thanks for sharing. You have a nice property full of classic cars.
That lot you have is one of my dreams. I'm working on it. Cool truck
I like it, its a one of these days project.
Pretty cool truck Brent.
You always find the coolest stuff Brent!
So good I watched it again.
Good looking old truck! Would love to find something like that. Can't wait to see what you do whit her.
One of my favourite shaped Chevy trucks 1955/1956
Brent under the influence can still weld better than anyone.
Love the truck. Love the inline 6
Always love the clips of you and Pablo at the end. A man and his trusty friend. :-)
Cool find, love it when they fire up after sitting for years!
Great project. I love old trucks. Can’t wait to see what you do with it. 👍
U are really great inspiration .
This is the truck shape that started rodding for me.It had a jag front and rear suspension , nice seats and were fire engine red.💯👍
Another nice project
Pretty awesome. Nice find
I love them old trucks. That one has potential to be a show truck, or an old hotrod. Jeremy in Alabama.
Like the truck looks complete and runable.
Who the hell says technology is great. Id like to see a 2020 chevy run after 60 years in2080.think not likely.
Cool shit man
Most likely by 2080 you will face a firing squad for starting a gasoline powered car
I completely agree but a better point to make here is nobody is going to want a 2020 vehicle in 2030 let alone in 2080 but this truck will still be sought after then
Right on. I got a 59 stepside I'm trying to get back on the road. Like that camera in the sky too.
Shoot, that is one awesome truck.
I was 4 when that truck came out I know my dad had one . I hope you get going good luck.
👍👌👏 Sounds as if the engine is pretty strong. Congrats.
Can't wait for the international build.
You got a lot of just the right price vehicles, lucky you
You will give it to a go as always

I love that 56 chevy truck!! I'm jeleous!
Love your job bro...greetings from Belize...I'd love to be your apprentice..
Kickass, I never find stuff that nice!
