This is when ppl who know boxing knew that Crawford is the real deal.
That Crawford defense at 2:40-2:38 (at around 13:28 of the video) of Round 5 is flawless. The speed of both fighters in Round 5 shows how formidable they are.

The Gamboa fight was when I first saw Superstar Crawford. And from Gamboa up until Shawn Porter it seemed commentators totally missed what Crawford was actually doing and calling exchanges where crawford got the edge even. Other times they kept saying Bud better be careful, Bud better be careful. One fight I listened to the commentator kept talking up the other guy and remained quiet all through any maneuvers Crawford performed. Next thing I know, all of a sudden, and much to this commentators dismay, he says fights over.😊
Gamboa was clearly out boxing Terrence Crawford. But people were so biased they made their eyes see it the other way around.

The Gamboa at the beginning was very good. Good defense, fast hand speed, up and down hitting. But Crawford's adaptability is great. Crawford found a weakness in the southpaw and was schooling Gamboa from the middle. A great battle where you can see the skillful movements in the early rounds of Gamboa and the skills of Crawford.
You're blind, only reason gamboa lost was because he's dumb and prideful and kept hands down too much.

Crawford was actually up against someone quicker and sharper than himself. Probably more experienced aswell and he overcame the adversity. Obviously a dumb ass casual or a young fight fan wouldnt realise that Gamboa was a hot commodity at this time.

Crawford became my favorite fighter when this fight happened. I told everybody after the fight he was going to be the best in the world. If you watch Bud in the 5th round, him and Gamboa get tied up and he starts pushing Gamboa back and he looks into the crowd and starts sticking his tongue out. He always does that when he figures a guy out. Shortly after that he drops Gamboa with a counter lead right hook. That punch continues to land for him throughout the fight. If you watch Crawford fight Mean Machine, he was getting caught with right hooks at the end of exchanges with him. Eventually Bud is able to catch that punch at the end of the exchange and he stick his tongue out at Mean Machine the same way. The next exchange Bud catches the right hook and lands a hard counter on Mean Machine with the same hand. His versatility, his ability to adapt and find the right punch to change the fight is unbelievable. Best fight IQ since Andre Ward or Floyd Mayweather with better versatility than both. It's a shame he hasn't gotten the credit he deserves in his career. Truly one of the greatest to ever do it.

He def got caught with a right hand in that last round but did a great job of holding on and getting his feet back under him. That’s what makes the ending even better.

Gamboa had already moved up in his last fight and won the wba interim lightweight title and now was fighting Crawford for WBO lightweight.
Previous to that move up though Gamboa was a unified champ at featherweight. It’s kinda like how Haney is moving up to fight at 140 rn and because he is/was a champ in a lower weight class they are just letting him jump all the contenders for 140

Announcer is so up Crawford's butt about his ability to switch that he and all the other commentators missed Crawford eatin a pretty good right hand from Gamboa. Looked liked it was a right cross that didn't connect all the way but got just enough of Bud to wobble him in Rd 9 around 2:19 or so. Great fight; Gamboa just got outboxed.
