- Ahead of his 103rd birthday, judo legend Yosh Uchida was celebrated Saturday night. Uchida coached the first U.S. Olympic judo team and put San Jose State University on the map as a powerhouse in the sport. Marianne Favro reports.

nuts ! Didn't even know he was still alive he was the coach when I was there like 40 years ago
So happy to see Mr. Uchida still alive and well. I was fortunate enough to be one of his Judo students at San Jose State in 1964 and trained with some of the Olympic team guys. It was a wonderful experience. At 77 years old I still remember some of the throws he taught us. Happy Birthday, Yosh !
