I built one of these some years back! It was fun! I ordered the full kit. The only part where I messed up was that I didn't fully sand off the paint on the chassis that came with the kit for the jacks, so they werent being grounded properly. After I cleaned it up it has been working great ever since. I had put mine in a 3U case to carry around. I also have the Surfy Bear Metal. They sound very different, but the Mod Kit wave is still cool... its more amp-like long tank reverb. I also bought a 2 spring tank to try out, but I like the 3 tank better. Cool build!
It sounded great on the bench but once I got it in my studio I noticed a hum. It still sounds good but I haven't really played it much because I haven't had time to troubleshoot it. It's likely because I put used tubes in it due to the tube shortage. Also I did not buy the kit so there are some variations in my layout which could be causing the hum but you won't have that problem if you buy the kit. Sometime in the future (once I get the hum thing figured out) I'll probably do a comparison between it and the Reverb on my Twin Reverb.
Nice job but looks like it would be tough to change out the tank if you wanted to. Been looking at the Surfybear compact, this and the Anasounds element.
Thanks! It's not difficult to replace the tank. The front comes off with four bolts and then the tank slides out through the front. I made the wires on the front long enough so you don't have to unsolder a single thing. I did however have to notch the front where the metal is folded so that the tank would slide in and out. But you can't see that with the front grill on.
@@shckltnebay No, I haven't tried one but I'm very doubtful that any analog Reverb could sound like a real tube driven spring reverb. This thing really colors the tone which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you're looking for. I'm sure the element sounds good but not the same. Another thing to think about is portability. Although my Reverb tank sounds awesome it is heavy so it's very cumbersome to bring to practices and shows but if you use it a lot it could be worth it. Honestly I haven't been able to compare this to my digital Reverb because I haven't had the time to put this in my rack yet but what I heard so far messing around with it on the workbench I liked.

Wow it sounds really cool, I want one.
They sell the kits and all the parts to make it at Antique Electronics. You can download the schematic and wire diagram for free there.
How you liking it so far? I still thinking about one. Wondering about a tone control.

@@cameronstolhand7149 Hoping to get a deal on the Anasounds element. Have you tried one?

@@shckltnebay Yes, I think so.
