I agree that when it comes to projects for my house, the decisions seem so varied and a little overwhelming . Beautiful place to relax and watch the stars!
@@JohnBuildsIt me too. I can design and build a printer stand for my partner who really doesn’t need it but I can’t design and build a cabinet for my smoker whose stand I desperately need to replace.
Great video showing every step in good detail. Your project showed many conditions that another homeowner could encounter, which will be helpful. You and your family can be proud of your success on your deck!
You're one of the only UA-camrs nowadays that I actually get excited to watch new videos of. Great work! Would pay for some consulting on projects as you're a wealth of knowledge and ingenuity.
This just looks great. The transformation is amazing and I love that you color matched and the paint for the flower boxes. I can't say I'd change a thing. The lighting is a really nice touch too. Popping that spline board in must have been super satisfying. Thanks for your advice on the PVC vs composite and temp. That's a huge advantage.
It wasn’t my first choice either but I wish I remembered the numbers, it’s pretty crazy how much cooler this deck stays compared to everything else I tested
Helpful but a lot more involved than my project and unfortunately I don’t have the $$$ to use the pvc stuff. I am brand new to diy since my husband dies so appreciate the help and will definitely subscribe!
Great job! Can really tell how poorly the other deck was built compared to the one you built. It really adds value to the house and I love the built in planter boxes.
Apreciate all of your good wookmanship; you covered a lot of tasks. I think understanding presevative treated wood is important so that the type and amount of treatment is right for the application.
Your deck looks fantastic! I did the same thing to my deck eight years ago. I used the Trex deck system on my deck. This included the post sleeves, railing, and down lighting on the posts. The only things that needed painting were the support beam, 6x6 posts and the stringers for the stairs. I used the hidden fasteners for the boards and the Cortex screws with the plugs for the step risers and trim boards. The deck still looks great today. Yours should last for many years virtually maintenance free. Enjoy!
Wow what an fantastic deck transformation. The level of craftsmanship and attention to detail is incredible. I learned a lot of little tips that will be helpful one day when I have to rebuild my current deck.
I loved your video and the masterful way you executed your deck rebuild. Great job! I have 1,400 sq. foot of PT pine in the DC area that I've kept treated over the years (since 1988) and it's still going strong. Strong believer in the Behr products and Sherwin Williams is my go to paint for all things painted. Loved the tools too! Thanks.
Fantastic job. Looks beautiful. I have the same situation. Redoing my deck. Built it 26 years ago. Pushing 80 now and can't do it anymore. Want to hire someone to do mine exactly the way you did. Same materials. Hope I can find someone. Will continue to follow to see what else you do. Great work.
So professionally done, I can see you're a perfectionist. One thing you didn't tell us is how long does it take for you to plan it all out before and during construction. Great work, very satisfying to watch.
Looks great and is well put together. I haven't see any composite decks that have no maintenance though. Cleaning those white railings is a pain and the decking texture wears out quickly and the boards need replacing. Unless you have lived with a deck like this for a while, these are things that sales guys don't tell you.
This is a pvc product with a 50 year warranty, not even a comparison to older composites you have experience with man! Less maintenance as in no sanding, painting, staining, patching. Of course it’ll still need it’s yearly cleaning 👍🏽
My dad was a master carpenter he would have been proud to work with you.
Thank you!!
I’ve been a high level carpenter for over 30 years and I love to see excellent high quality work performed!!! Great job!!
I appreciate it man!
👍👍👍👍
That G-tape detail is a huge one that most people skip. Great Content!
Definitely worth the little extra cost!
One of the best deck transformations I’ve seen. Highly satisfying.
Thank you!!
Man I wish you posted more content bc the quality of your work is just unparalleled
I appreciate it man! I’ve got lots more coming 👍🏽

Fantastic! Looks gorgeous. You are awesome! Planter boxes are a great idea. What a job!
My dad was a carpenter and I know he would be very pleased with this deck, it looks amazing! I also noticed you had some four legged visitors.
Wow, that looks great!
Thanks!!

Beautiful job! I'm about as graceful with a hammer and power tools as a bull in a china shop but I really appreciate craftsmanship when I see it.
Haha thank you!!

Well Done! Love the color and the wide stairwell with the railing on one side. What a difference!
Thanks man! Loving it!
I normally would not choose a white and gray deck, but that is awesome. You did a great job!
It wasn’t my first choice either but I wish I remembered the numbers, it’s pretty crazy how much cooler this deck stays compared to everything else I tested
That looks phenomenal John! Those down firing lights really set it off, screams elegance. Amazing work dude
Thank you! The lights really make the whole deck in my opinion
Normally I'm not a fan of decks, instead preferring hardscaping. But this is incredible. Great work.
