Fantastic performance. This is coming from a fan, and hobbyist musician, from South Africa. Grew up listening to Az Yet, and your vocals were always my favourite. Hello HC! I got your message on twitter. Thanks mate! I guess Shawn mentioned that he "won't mention certain names" because he doesn't want it to impact their livelihood" or something like that, but honestly it's still crazy how Shawn's side and Dion's side omits Darryl's involvement in the group. I did see in the interview with Delious from All-4-One from Dion and Kenny that Darryl was with the group for only a few weeks before they got signed, but no story how he joined them, why he left, what happened when he tried to tour as Az Yet with 3 other guys on his own in the mid-2000's, etc. That would've been a great chapter to know. Also the time Marc Nelson came back in the late 2000's WITH Tony Grant, and why they both left again a couple of years later with little music done and almost no footage of their live performances then, etc. Not your fault, but these guys I wish would have mentioned that. They mentioned all this stuff already so why not, ya know?
I must admit, the details you outlined I had no idea about in order to rise in the interview. When I interviewed Dion and the current AZ Yet lineup, they weren't too keen on talking about the past. I wasn’t but 15 when they came out in the 90s and one this was unmistakably true then, and even today when you go back and listen to their live performance recordings and/or their debut album and its singles: Az Yet had a future, and were one of the all-time most vocally talented R&B groups of all time… period. They out sang the competition of today, as well as their contemporaries of that era, including Jodeci, BlackStreet, and yes-even Boyz II Men. It’s doubtful you’ll find a group after them that held a harmony that smoothly and that confidently as Az Yet. They actually embarrassed people who were even signed acts who were thought of as talented because they were just that strong vocally. As a bi-racial black/Puerto Rican kid who loved and still loves to sing today-it was so awesome to see an Afro-Latino dude singing in a major R&B act.
The key to any groups success is respect , take 6 , Boyz ll men , Acapella, Gaither vocal band have been together, even when members leave its all love
Nnamdi, you're a therapist. Maybe you should bring some healing to Az Yet. Bring Shawn and Dion and Kenny together and have them hash it out. AZ Yet came on first then Shaun responded to some of their comments
He was the only reason I use to like the group to be honest 😂🥴🤦🏾♀️
Throughout the week I'll feature his story and journey
You gotta be kidding!tand what about he bass Guy and marc nelson??
@@lesaneparishcrooks259ummm no he was my favorite.
@@lesaneparishcrooks259 marc nelson’s voice is amazing. Bassman to!
In fact maybe this could be a separate UA-cam channel " Halftime Resolutions" were you bring broken R&B groups together to communicate and heal. One show could be 112. The next NEXT... then Changing faces...then Zhane LOL
I almost fell off my seat with pressure at the thought of being Phil Donahue 2.0 😂😂😂
@@HalftimeChat 😂😂😂 yeah that is too much drama...UNnecessary drama. Keep it positive 😂. The way Shawn's tone abruptly changed during the interview I literally said "uh oh" out loud. 😂
🤭🤭🤭
He was great. His story working with Babyface and how he picks who sings the verses is amazing.
I love your concept for an ‘Unbreaking the Band’ series. Sounds like a show I would love to watch. For the record, I have no interest in rejoining Az Yet. Although I’m proud of our accomplishments and forever grateful, I am enjoying this chapter of my life.
Thank you Shawn. 🙏🏾
How come nobody talk about Darryl Anthony he sang the 1st verse on hard to say I’m sorry wish that things was different 1st album was truly amazing from start to finish
I been looking up information about him for hours I can't find any social media or really a mention about him anywhere online. I think I found his IG it is @dantny
@@brooksdurham5285 yes I think that’s him they all need to have a sit down and talk about their differences, that first album was too fiyya not to make another 1 literally from start to finish or come out with a episode unsung #comeback album
@@brooksdurham5285 Look up Darryl Anthony Hawes
This was a great interview
Much appreciated thank you 🙏🏾
@@HalftimeChat you're welcome. Huge fan of Shawn Rivera and Az Yet
May You Continue To Be BLESS 🙌
Not to put down the recent AZ Yet song, but he has a point. Viva Mas did good on overjoyed. The Harmonies are nice. AzYet let me down on that new single. Maybe they have some other bangers on tap. I hope
I agree. I'm not feeling their new song. It sounds like anyone could've sung that song and the video was very low budget. I like Viva Mas song and I could see why Shawn likes the direction their going in versus AZ Yet
I notice that all of the groups fight over name trademarks blackstreet, hi -five etc this industry doesn't care about anyone it ruins friendships .
Yup. They chew you up and spit you out and move on to the next artists to screw over. It's a cutthroat industry
Omg halftime that's crazy I give shawn credit he was on his business but I need to know how many different versions trademark did they have? Also I need to know what does the trademark do for them
The trademark is how income from the group is collected for shows, and future albums. The same issue is happening with Blackstreet and Teddy Riley
@@HalftimeChat ohhhh
I need to check his channel out I see some interesting things.
"Secrets" is still da Jawn.

Wow.. I would love to hear Dion side of this story

🤔 1 woman & 2 male bandmates = 🚩🤦🏿♂ these stories never end well
You have feelings so it was personal. You don't bring up things your not feeling some kind a way

Shawn has been in the business too long to be getting jacked every single time. Learn the business. The nicest ones in the biz are the shadiest.
Wow, they did he shady.
Yes you married with Jaclyn Victor Malaysian singer and had children and then you divorced left her with your child. What are you doing man you are not the good man I think sorry...
Hispanics are done wrong in R&B. Too, too many negative stories including this one. :-/
