The fight between the twins was ostensibly a reference to Rhaenyra and Aegon also being siblings who are about to start a war, which will engulf families across the realm and not just House Targaryen.

Tom glynn carney carried this episode as aegon emotional performance you could feel his pain grief ,and rage over the loss of his son jachaerys.

Also happy to say they’re teasing the Dragon Seeds. Probably won’t be a prominent part until the last two or so episodes of not just until third season, which is likely when Daeron shows up.
Awesome second episode . This season is going to raise the bar so high in the next few episodes , and I hope we get to see more Dragon's in action 🔥🔥🔥🐲

I’ve read the books and I must say the show is doing a great job. There’s a lot of politics, plotting, scheming and ultimately fighting but before we get to all the battles, viewers that haven’t read the books NEED context, they need to see the conversations and build up.

Well thats in the show, in the books Daemon was full faithful with Rhaenyra as his queen. Maybe not faithful as husband but to her cause he never fails her. In the books he was the majority of time supporting her cause. He never considered the hightowers his family nor his nephews of Alicent. He loathed them.

I think they cut a lot from this episode, which explains the weird editing throughout.
There might be more funerals this season. And then there is memorial services to remind the smallfolk of Rheanyrah's cruelty. They will parade Healena in front of crowds and use her grief as a political tool to justify the cost of war. But as mentioned in the episode; cost of living is rising in Kings' landing....how much more will it take before they start to riot? remember what Mysaria told Otto Hightower in season one.

It did serve a purpose: It was Alicent‘s plan to send the other twin to Dragon Stone, she used Cole to cut off her Father as she was always insecure about her place when he is around, specially undermining her. The last scene proves, it was all alone her plan.
I think they could've swapped the order of those scenes. Ending right after the duel would be better

D'Arcy barely moved but her expressions portrayed just how shaken Rhaenyra was when she realized Alicent believed her claim, relief at the realization of the misunderstanding and finally her reaffirmation that she is the rightful ruler. Girl gonna be more determined than ever now. Kinda annoying Alicent wouldn’t admit she also believed Rhaenyra after that moment. Stellar performance from them both… Also Cristen running scared was super satisfying to see. Baela was definitely proud about it.
