Joe Bob Briggs was the first critic/reviews I ever remembered watching and enjoying as a kid. It’s one of those things that taught me how to watch and think about movies and see the deeper meanings. JBB also gave me a healthy respect and love for movie trivia, production stories, etc . I don’t think I’m alone either. I bet there were a lot of kids watching JBB late at night on weekends.

I just wish they would have ended the series better but it was fun while it lasted.
I watched this movie under the best possible circumstances. Mildly drunk in the back row in frontof the biggest screen in my area. With only one good buddy and some strangers. An empty cinema. The last screening on the last day. Chucked down two beers while everybody was just enjoying the film. No smartphones, no talking.
But yeah, the Cold Turkey Drug Rehab should have been the central point of the remake. But I'm glad that it took off, so Fede Alvarez could move on to his first original feature. Still need to watch Don't Breathe.
@crewmate Don't Breathe is decent, meaning it is worth a watch. I own it (along with the entire Evil Dead series). Jeff Carlin's comment is spot on.

And ash appears in the end credit screen and that leads us to ash vs evil dead
spider warrior it's technically what is known as a soft reboot we're all the basic events that happening the first one still happen with very little and loose continuity to the original i e a ash figure showing up and saying groovy.

I found your channel in Oct of this year when I was looking for good Halloween videos and since then I have used most my data watching your videos.The way you go the extra mile to entertain is awesome the skits and the way present it and you do it all mostly by yourself while working a job ,how you don't have more subscribers is a crime! Im passing your channel to all my friends.I also agree with your review of this movie I did like it but im a Bruce Campbell fan and the cameo was the best part.I thought they just tried to hard to make it compare to the original and used more gore and blood to make you forget it was a remake and when you originally did this video Ash Vs Evil Dead was not even a thought so as hard as they tried to make this movie not a reboot and something in the Bruce Evil Dead world it just fell flat and gave us fans false hope of a new movie in this series but atleast we got Ash vs Evil on Starz so it wasn't a total loss and compared to most reboots made today they did try to keep the original spirit of the first film in this movie.They also did not use a lot of CGI which is just a staple in most reboots made today mainly cause Michael Bay and Platinum Dunes are lazy butchers. So think the horror gods for keeping this title out of their hands ,well for right now atleast.Keep up the good work and sorry I wrote a book not a comment but first time to comment had to get the praise out of the way Peace Out.

Andy, I just found you last month and I have now watched every video(some twice or three times). You are very funny, talented and really educational with your knowledge of movie history. Your reviews are entertainingly smart. I love that you don’t shit on every movie. You find good things in most with some exceptions( April Fool’s and Prom Night being 2 and deservedly so). No it isn't, the intro was nothing more than a recap and due to licensing issues they couldn't use the original footage.

Sorry for the double post, but originally they wanted to make this a reboot, then an Evil Dead 4, a sequel to this and then a movie that would unite Mia and Ash. Apparently this didn't come to be, even though apparently there's the idea to make Mia appear in an episode of Ash Vs. The Evil Dead (insert Michael Scott 'God Please No' clip here).
I would like mia in an episode to help ash and the others.
Jesus I haven't laughed so much at a skit of a man getting tortured and killed, that music made me cry from laughter, I love this channel!
For me this is one of the best Remakes ever made. I love it equally to all the other Evil Dead movies and this goes with most of the fanbase 😊

The Ash cameo in the ending credits is literally a commercial for his new TV show Ash vs Evil Dead on Stars (which comes out on Halloween day this year).
Plot Twist: The movie was shitty on purpose to make people want to watch the original again and be more inclined to watch Ash vs Evil Dead.

You had a similar theory about Ash's time travel that I had too. I basically always thought that the "remake" is in fact a sequel. I like to think it takes place in a reality where Ash and his friends never went to the Cabin due to him going back in time and then sleeping past the events of the first two films.

My take on Mia being possessed is that it's parallel to her withdrawal, and once David resurrected her, it's as if the possession is like the addiction, as both have gone away by then. Your idea with David being possessed though would be great.

I loved the reboot and while I agree junkie Mia dealing with the deadites and kicking her habit at the same time woulda been awesome Ash becoming possessed and still being the hero did happen in the franchise. In that he turned back thanks to sunlight and willpower. It seemed like just another nod to me. Also id have preferred for the bro to die pointlessly.
I really enjoyed this remake quite a bit. The gore was the best part for me.

Evil Dead scared the ever-loving shit out of me, enhanced by the fact that it also made me laugh. It was instrumental in creating the twisted soul I am today. There is only one Bruce Campbell. Tis blasphemy to try and recreate Ash.

People are gonna be like....wtf is he doing he certainly knows how to entertain himself. BTW this remake is in my top horror movies of all time it was just sooo refreshing too me amongst the horror those years. Also i adore the ash vs. series. But still i love watching you review it.

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched this review now. The original Evil Dead still stands as one of my top three favorite horror films so the remake was definitely a let down. This review of the remake is a better interpretation of the originals than the remake itself. Thank you Andys for your pointed analysis!
Linda’s torso in ED2 was amazing. The fake look is what makes it so funny. That describes most the effects in part 2.
I liked the clownesque visuals of violence in The Evil Dead better, even though I watched it after watching the remake

I think this film is 7.5 out of 10. Mia self-mutilation while possessed, gets buried and some how not possessed and no scarring from self-mutilation.Cliches are the biggest flaws in the movie. I like it but trying to hard using brutal violence and words that seem to come from Exorcist,"your mother sucks cock in hell", instead, "your little sister is getting rape din hell." Just go watch this movie and don't expect it to be the greatest movie you ever watched.
