- Chester Zoo Monorail in England. This monorail won't win any speed or beauty contests but the small track winding through the zoo is quite pretty and minimalistic! The monorail is a perfect speed for watching animals from this unique aerial view.
Unfortunately the monorail was shut down in 2019. I'm glad I had the chance to ride and film it when it was running.
I love zoos, one of the best one I saw was the Singapore Zoo. Chester looks very good too :) I cant wait to take the boys.
I wish all zoos had trains, either monorails or steam trains!
Awesome vid of monorail can't understand why their not used in the suburbs( light mini monorails).can be cost efficient if kept small and basic like zoos.
This particular monorail only runs at 15-20 mph. It wouldn't work as real transportation. Unfortunately the Chester Zoo Monorail has been shut down and removed.
@@Luke_Starkenburg so sad to hear that.a council should innovate on that principle design and through modern technology principles could achieve something.a good high school project for kids to nut out and build models and CAD computer 3D simulations ,drawings, etc. where's the desire and innovative practices gone these days.
Laziness, inertia and donor oligarch politics (the donors want tax cuts and no public spending on infrastructure, because "socialism"). Also total lack of vision on the part of politicians. In Australia, the iconic Sidney Monorail was discontinued a few years ago, absolute madness. Monorail technology is old and tested, it's cheap, easy to install, can be automated and can run frequently. There are examples at airports and campuses (e.g. the H-Bahn, or "hanging rail", in Dortmund). There should be monorails in the suburbs connecting the suburbs to city centres and railway networks, the citizens should make their voices heard and demand better public transport.
@@aristeon5908 totally agree.100 percent!!
@@Luke_Starkenburg Yes I've been today and it's gone.
Very professional and very informative, thanks.
a nice video!
0:24 is the schmitar-horned oryx. A very endangered species that isn't found in the wild!
Cool!
Luke Starkenburg I know all sorts of useless rubbish about animals and Chester zoo 😂
@@nmu3953 it's closed now
The monorail is going to be removed after almost 30 years.
I saw that. So sad! I'm glad I got the chance to ride and film it.
@@Luke_Starkenburg The Sydeney monorail was removed in 2013 after 25 years.
I only rode it once in 1999.
Shame it’s gone now
It's really a "sky train" since it uses two rails to ride on unlike a true monorail.
I went yesterday and the audio wasn't working but I don't know why
Do my eyes deceive me??
Is this monorail running on twin track??
Or is the train running along the insides of the two tracks, in stead of the more usual outsides of a single track??
bushyconn They can't be running inside because of all the cross bracing. Have a look at 5:25.
My tooth come out and it was blood pressure it was today
OK I will send you the email when I get back you will be able to send you the email when I get back to you on the 19th of July and will send you the email when you get back to you on y

I'm currently sitting in a shear machine cutting this up.
Oh, that's sad! I don't know if I will ever go back to the zoo (since I live in Chicago), but if I do, I will miss seeing the monorail and also the elegant track winding through the zoo.
