You know grown men who are consummate musicians are not going to spend a single minute jamming with a child unless that child was real special. Angelina is a musical savant.
I have said this so many times that Angelina in a rehearsal is better than any artist past or present, she is just light years ahead of the current artists out there, why she is not be promted more is beyond me
We recognise that Angelina is a genius , but I think we also forget she puts hours and hours into perfecting her craft.

This is Screamin' Jay Hawkins' song, Portrait of a Man, with slightly altered lyrics. It's actually quite a deep song which doesn't really suit a child, but who cares? Whatever Angelina sings is fine by me. Thanks for the reaction!
Here is some info on this video - plus a rough translation of what Angelina is saying to the band. The spoken language is Norwegian. This video is important as it provides insight into how Angelina works. This rehearsal was around the same time as I Put a Spell On You (Angelina is about 9 years old) You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. The first thing she says is that she wants to start, followed by her saying she wants to start over, She tells the pianist that the key is too low and that she wants to raise it a half-tone, then at the end of the song she changes the ending on the fly.
She is the wonderful "boss" of jamming... it's unreal that at that age she decides and changes, as if it were the most normal thing in the world. The magical Angelina, thanks Nick.💛🧡❤

I love you without a hat on. I was beginning to think you must be bald under the hats or something, so it’s nice to see you do have hair! Are they like a security blanket or something? Glad you finally got to see this gem of Angelina leading a rehearsal. They’ve all worked with her before.

Her change at the end is a great example of just how top notch her musical instincts are. Even as a little girl she knew how a story should be sung. You can't teach that...

Oh Andy… I absolutely LOVE this video, except… ❗️ Chris Walker did a version of this video where he got the assistance of Steinar Hatlin to TRANSLATE the Norwegian that is being said between Angelina and her band mates. To understand what is being said (although brief) makes this video transcend everything else about this remarkable practice session.
I believe Chris has removed the video but we all really should lobby Chris to make it available again. It really makes a BIG difference in understanding the BRILLIANCE of this video IMHO. [thanks😬😉]

Angelina, when jamming on Screaming Jay Hawkins song, "Portrait of a Man" (that she changes to "Portrait fo a Child") said, in the middle: "I think we need to put it one tone higher".... (BTW, there is a version of this video with subtitles...). "painting in oil" means a painting (a portrait) with oil base paint.
This recording was around the same time she recorded "I Put a Spell on You" with the same group. It's likely that they had the same jam session with this song (by the same author) which was, in the end, chosen - between this two - to be the one to be recorded in studio.
