That's the one I ordered and finally got put it together and set it in my yard this morning. Great tip about the coffee in those one cup containers. I'd been tossing mine, however will cut them and use the coffee grounds inside them from now on.
I am a novice gardener - and happened to buy this model of tumbler. Thanks for all the tips ! I am about to start adding to mine today. Question - do you ever need to add moisture ?
Keep a good mixture of greens and browns. You can add water if it gets dry. In the summer I add shredded paper to keep it from getting too wet. Keep turning it.. good luck.. thanks for watching and commenting!
Downeaster!! Love it. Born and raised on the North Shore of Massachusetts.. I have a bunch of family in Maine.. around the Bangor area!! Been in NC about 30 years..that accent is still there.. thankfully!! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Just put it together yesterday and threw in a bunch of kitchen scraps from my produce. I’m going to go out into the neighborhood and try to find some dried leaves to add some “browns“ I don’t really have stuff like that in my yard. Does the shredded paper Compensate for the Browns? I was thinking of doing one side fully, and then maybe two or three weeks later starting the other side so I have a continuous supply? What do you think of that?
What about oak leaves? I’m told those leaves have an acid that aren’t good for compost piles. Is this true? I love your videos! Thankyou… Back yard Gardner, Marlyn, zone 9B
I use oak leaves… any leave I can get my hands on.. I have not had an issue.. mix it off with greens and kitchen scraps and you should be able to balance it out.. keep composting!! You will not be disappointed!!
Can you tell me, do I use the two compartments simultaneously? Should I put food scraps grass clippings paper in both compartments or in one compartment?
I live in Montana and received this same compost bin and the husband almost has it put together. So during the winter am I able to still make compost? I’m very new to this. I do have two buckets of compost I started last spring. Any advice would greatly appreciate it
You sure can start the compost anytime!! Make sure you add lots of greens (kitchen scraps) with a good mixture of browns. You will have some great soil! Let me know how it works! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Hey, has anyone used one of these for longer than a year? Looking to purchase one for a school garden project and am curious about how long it holds up.
I have been using my compost tumbler since January of 2021 and it had shown no signs of breaking down. If would be a great addition to a school garden project.. thanks for watching and commenting!!
@@thestupidgardener4642 thanks for getting back! Do your thought was spot on. You felt it was going to have no problem rising!! Ordered mine yesterday cause I felt you were pretty confident thanks
I screen it through some hardware cloth.. It keeps out sticks and other items that have not broken down completely. You can take off what does not go through the screen and put it back in the compost. You do not have to screen if you do want to. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
I got nothing from this video except that you don't know what you're doing and that you shouldn't be trying to instruct anyone in composting. Now I understand the channel title... I mistakenly thought it was ironic. P.S. Try using gravity to your advantage.
Ha Ha.. when the temperature is real high you can add browns (carbon) to control the temperature.. thanks for watching and commenting! Stay tuned to see what happens!
I love how you waved to us in the beginning😁 . I love your video. Thank you for sharing

"Impeach Nixon"! Love that t-shirt and your easy ways. You're definitely NOT "stupid"! Thanks for the videos.
Ha Ha. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Update to impeach Biden.
To remove compost, turn the bin so the opening is at the bottom. Pull the door open and it will come out.
Thanks Jack!! That is what I have been doing . I dump it all on a tarp..

I just bought this tumbler. The instructions say to not put it in direct sunlight. Have you had issues with that?
How do you keep the rain out? Mine seems to get soaked after a rain storm.
I really have not had that issue either my Tumbler.. I will have to check it the next time we get a heavy rain.

Hi, from one Marlyn to another one! I'm looking to purchase a composter and came across this video by chance. It was very helpful.
Can you tell me, do I use the two compartments simultaneously? Should I put food scraps grass clippings paper in both compartments or in one compartment?
Yes, I use both sides .. just keep turning it as much as possible.. thanks for watching and commenting!!
I had mine going the entire winter here in Florida but not much success. I think I put too many browns in
Load it up with some greens and keep turning and it will get going!
