- Dark Horse‘s comic book True Stories is an adaptation of actual events that occcurred within the game universe of EVE Online in February 2009, as one of the largest player alliances was destroyed through an act of betrayal.

With all of the amazing stories shared on the submit site, it's the BOB and the goons getting more spotlight. Fucking bullshit.
Well it's the first of many.
The big thing is that the BoB disbanding was a HUGE set piece.

Ratstail91 Maybe if you hit above your weight, or did the unexpected then you'd have a story to tell. More likely you towed the line, did what everyone else did, an indistinguishable clone who is right now probably realising the irony of what I just said. BoB and Goons are most noted not because they were the best, it was because they did it all first, the good, the bad and the down right ugly.

Ratstail91 You aren't going to get far doing that mate, I'm sure it suits your style of play, not judging you on that, but still, you're complaining about groups that are spoken off because they did what you didn't do, play together. That is how they achieved their fame, or infamy.
True story: Since 2003, I've tried 5 times getting into this game, but every time it somehow felt like work, not fun.
I have come to accept now that this game is more fun for me to read about than actually playing it. And tbh, the fact that the actual main character in this true story apparently hardly can be found in-game either, kinda confirms for me I made the right choice.

well honestly there is a LOT of work involved in the game... as if the learning curve wasn't hard enough you know? haha i have been playing for 6 years now and see no time to stop soon :) getting myself capitals now and hopefully my first super before long,
I love the small pvp aspect much more then the blobs but that is all goons is good at is outnumbering their opponents lol even then they lose more then they kill :) I was in a massive fleet fight and got on KM's for 4 supers and 27 caps as well as many other subs before my bomber got popped... i was shooting for nearly 5 hours haha.

+rolf ski lol you have no idea the main guy in the story is now controlling tons of ppl in his coalition still only he does it it mroe remotely, but he is still very active in the eve community.

In fact, I do have an idea, (re-)read the rest of my comment. I'm a regular reader of TMC, which illustrates exactly my idea of Eve Online as a game you want to read about.
Eve online is a game to play as well as read about. everyday on my way to university I listen to every podcasts but when I get back I play as my corporation diplomat and communication officer dealing tih intel and relaying information back and forth and sometimes dealing with ppl who kicked us out of the alliance for being suspect. I do occasional PVP and also PVE and the game overall is improving in every way not to mention the upcoming citadel expansion which will change everything.
I ahve also read amsot all of the eve novels by Gonzales and also follow up on the lores and chronicles for eve. I am also a writer myself and ahve participated in eve story writing competition.
So yeah, eve isn't just about reading, it's about breathing and living in it's beautiful universe.
Who else whats to see the Battle of B-R5RB and the result of that conflicted play out in a comic book?
Bought it a week before it was supposed to be released. Loved it. Looking forward to MOAR.

I'd find it interesting to see a written form of the "Catapulting of Dreads".... Though i can't remember which Alliance or Corp it was that pioneered that. :D

How odd: Mittani claiming credit for something he had nothing to do with.
It really was a mouth dropper when I logged on, I was in FAT at the time, I was like WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON!? it was cmplete mayhem and panic.
The game was NEVER the same again, it's completely changed the spacescape of EvE. Not a single part of the game was free from it's effect.
This is why Eve is special. The players are the stars of the show.

If Mittens wrote something, it is entirely fiction to glorify himself, as always. I started playing Eve just before BoB collapsed. Never spent much time around them and didn't really care that they collapsed. But Goons... I hate Goons LOL.

i was apart of BoB for a while before it died, i lost so much shit, i lost all my covert ops ships which took me forever to get and stealth bombers:(

Can someone tell me what it means when they "disbanded" band of brothers? Like, did they just all the sudden shut down the entire alliance and take away all of the systems that BoB held?

CCP should invite Japanese Comic Artist draw the book, because Japan is probably the best comic country in the world, they have the best comic artists, the largest comic fans in the world, and the Sci-Fi theme is big part of their comic cultural. Why don't let them add some fresh blood?

goons.. no doubt thier efforts in shaping the game community and alliance landscape over the years has been pretty impressive and large scale...
but, to dedicate a book to them? Kinda boring, a duplication of efforts, theres probably already dozens and dozens of recounts of the bob/goons saga. But no! it clearly needs one more.
i guess the voting thing was just csm revisited - nothing noteworthy just the big alliance voting for its man again (not that i have any real issues with it). Just kinda kills it, im sure theres plenty of noteworthy stories by pilots who arent/werent bob/goons/other major alliance person which wouldnt be covered over and over and over already, and still possibly very interesting and intruiging to the eve/scifi fan

I have owned this for a while.
The artwork is mostly crap.
The writing is bad.
One has to wonder why Dark Horse published this. Doesn't CCP own a publishing house? Or has it been run into the ground?
It tries to explain EVE terms to a non-EVE player in text boxes that are annoying to an EVE player, and I don't think other aspects of the book makes itself very accessable to non-EVE players. So they are basically fail.
The comic does everything to tell you how awesome the Mitani is. The player of the Mitani once encouraged others to try force another player to commit suicide in real life. CCP should try and disassociate from him as much as possible, and probably not publish stories telling us how awesome he is...
I love almost everything about EVE and its merchandise. This comic book is the rare exception. I do not recommend buying it.
I like the idea but boring blob is boring blob no matter how the story is told. the mega alliances ruin eve.
Goonswarm does not worth such fame. Or CCP appreciate scammers. There are much more notable stories, like faulty titan drops and else.

CCP's answer to all of their F*%KUPS is that it's a feature when they should just admit they screwed up again, and again, and again.

.. statt so sinnlosen schrott zu produziern sollten sie mal die langzeitspieler fördern als mit ihren patches das spiel für langzeitspieler schlechter zu machen.... bestes beispiel der letzte patch... ein schlag ins gesicht für jeden spieler der länger als 1-2jahre spielt.
