4:14 a PSA eight base set Charizard is worth more than $500. So this is a dumb example because they wouldn’t even buy it because it goes over their limit and $500.. What a fucking dummy. Now I know why people talk shit about you. Go ahead delete this comment like you do all the other ones. Fckn jcat
A PSA 8 Base Set Charizard sold on EBay TODAY for $500 even, that’s why that card was on my mind. Yea it usually sells for a bit more, but it did sell for $500 today.
Who’s the what now? Thanks for commenting and helping my videos, I sure appreciate all of my loyal fans. 😘
Don’t worry, I won’t delete it. I’ll pin it. 😂🤣
You told him
Hahaha greatest comment ever 🤣 yeah everyone can't stand this guy honestly gamestop getting I'm the game has no difference of course they will low ball just like if you sell your cards to Dr pear pod lol 😆 this guy is so clueless
I don't think I have ever seen anything from his channel be wise like buy evolving 2 years ago or buy fusion strike 3 months ago lol 😆 of you watch this guy it's too just laugh at him cry and complain when he is the cancer of pokeymom
an entire video discussing how this is prob not going to be a good idea, from customer side to gamestop side, and you are knitting picking one sentence from the entire video to get mad about? which was a quote from someone else at that? brother you need to seek help.
watch them buy fake PSA cards LOL
LMAOOOOOO
The regret on their faces when they find out lol,sir he can't get away with this
That won't happen.. That's why they only accept PSA. They have a big database of all the cards they printed
@@james2oterotheir is plenty of fake PSA cards out there. I believe it was twicebakejake that put a video out a couple months ago about how to spot them
You can easily look up the card in the system. I do it all the time before I buy. I imagine it will become store policy.
As an lgs owner i dislike this but also find it laughable
Yea. I just don’t see how they scan pull this off well
Retail vs LGS retail will always win. Always since forever since the dawn of the tcg. Also booster boxes are a farse it is all about singles. Do not let these people take away your true reason for loving Pokemon. None of us as kids wanted booster boxes we wanted singles! They brainwashed us to thinking its the opposite.
I think its a good direction but it'll take a lot of work and they have to hire the right people. I'd give this like a 20% chance of success.
I don’t have any LGS locally so been limited to Game X Change for selling bulk and buying singles, so glad to see another option even if it is Gamestop of all places!
Interesting!
They never gave us value for our classic games now PSA cards. I don’t know how this is gonna go.
My first thought is how many fake slabs will they buy before they stop this program altogether
The knowledgeable probably won’t engage with GameStop. It might become the place to buy if other places become more expensive I suppose, not too sure. But I think parents and kids who do not know much about Pokemon and other TCGs may start off selling their slabs to begin with, that’ll be their initiation to the hobby. Overall, it’ll probably lead to more popularity of graded slabs and Pokemon cards in general.
Unfortunately for me, I don’t have an LGS near me that I’m comfortable revisiting for that nice customer experience. I’ve been to the 3 GS locations near me and I know a good number of the employees. If GS implements this, I believe they need to immediately give raises to their employer and managers bc now we’re gonna see the profits go up. I’d be pissed if I was an employee and knew about Pokémon but wasn’t compensated for my knowledge. I can certainly see ppl in my neighborhood buying holos at $1 to complete sets. There’s not much opportunity for buy/sell/trade nights here in NYC.
I acquired an assassins creed game just a few years ago, Brand New, for the usual price of 59.99 or whatever, and immediately tried selling it to GameStop . …….I was offered 12 dollars and change. Lol! Even the employee was shocked and felt bad. I bet the cards won’t be any better, who knows .
poke community should not sell or trade with them. gamestop is 100% going to try to rip you off. support small shops and local vendors not greedy corps like gamestop
Absolutely agree
I dont hate this idea honestly. Also, the trade in policy is pretty good if you are just patient and wait for the pro weeks for everyone's awareness. The trade in program sucked bad forever, but it sucks much less now.
GameStop will be the absolute worst place to sell your cards.
When i show them my vmax rayquaza alternate art psa 10
"Ill cut you a deal, 20$ and lego batman 2 for 360"
Exactly. lol.
No they will probably say we don't buy cards over 500 lol 😆 get out of here don't you see the add nice rayquaza flex tho 💪 🤣
So that’s why GameStop stock has been going up recently 😂
Hahahahah
I think how it will work is they’ll buy cards at select stores (where they have a more knowledge person working at) where they’ll completely lowball u. And some ppl will still sell since it feels safer/easier to sell to an entity like GameStop. Then if u want to buy cards it’ll be through a website so they can price things easier
Possibly. The article did say they plan to implement it at every store though.
I'm not sure people will be willing to buy cards from GameStop. Unless they have a fool proof verification process, and money back guarantee , even for slabs. We have seen fake slabs that can fool people unless they have experience handling hundreds of slabs a week.
gamestop may hate u
Better protect your collection from your deadbeat relatives... there's more opportunities now for your PSA Pikachu being traded for your brother's next fix...
Game stop must be low balling the hell out of people. They’re selling all their PSA 10s for a good 15-25% off market rate, if you’re a pro member this is an absolute golden opportunity to buy as many graded cards as possible.
Honestly, all holos should be able to hold that $1 price tag considering the cost of a pack. The decent pulls are to low cost for a 1/3 chance. You're investing $12 on average but can buy ex/gx/vs ect for like $2 a piece just doesn't add up mathematically. Demand does play some role in it, but they only sell for .25 because everyone prices them low considering a rare pull from a pack, bulk. Singles are really cheap when comparing to the lot ticket that is a booster pack. 36 packs, 6-8 will have good pulls depending on the set, and the rest are holos. A box costs around $110 avg market price nowadays during it's release. You won't even recoup half of your investment opening packs even with $1 per holo along with your pulls assuming avg box.
As for gamestop specifically. Their trade in value always sucks. I can understand 45%-50% of it's current market value taken from several sources especially when running a business (they aren't the end consumer), but they usually do no more than like 10-15 on video games. Can't imagine them doing more than that with trading cards either, especially with the slump they've been in.
Gamestop is hemorrhaging and graded cards are another band aid to them. It may slightly help them momentarily but the wound is too deep. I had even gone into a gamestop once to buy Halo Infinite, only to find out I didn't need the disc to even play multiplayer, it was free through gamepass. So even when I do go in on rare occasion , planning to buy, I still end up walking out without anything. The digital ecosystem has them in a vice.
This is good for the hobby. GS is a multi billion dollar organization in profit per year. They will figure out something that works. The trade in’s will be different than games because old games are turned in which is why you get Pennie’s on the dollar. They will be competitive at some point and I think another outlet to get cards. I think it can only help the hobby but we shall see 😊
They are trying to survive the onslaught of the video game system. It’s the right move for them. They should become a collectibles store. Forget about video games. They should slowly phase it out. Because no one buys games anymore. But collectibles, they do.
Games depreciate on a daily basis, which is why they gave pennies on a dollar! You would not know this unless you own/ run a gamestore!
Yea I can imagine they will give you a dollar for every 10 dollars the card is worth, and I imagine this will fail miserably..
Surely no employees will steal valuable, appreciating assets of a hyper popular collectible that also happens to be the biggest franchise in the world
I dont see how this is anything but positive, the only downside risk is for gamestop. No one has to sell them anything, and my lgs doesnt even buy slabs
Does gs grade cards too
Thank god no
Bad idea they gonna low ball everyone, sell for the high 🤦♂️
I disagree!! Buy, Sell, Trade !! Great business model!
It’s like going to a pawn shop, quick easy cash with low ball offers
GameStop sounds like a good place to buy waifu cards.
Heres a random data point for reference: i traded in my copy of Lets Go! Pikachu for $19.50 two months ago (Store Credit). Pre-Owned, that sells at Gamestop for $47.49. So, they didnt even give me 50% of the value for that game. Theyll sell it, easily, and more than double their money. Scum.
Agree with you that their leadership is completely out of touch with the reality of their own market. Thatll continue with pokemom cards. This is a final play for them, that I think will fail. I dont anticipate seeing Gamestop stores in the next 5 to 10 years.
Sadly. It seems that way.
I think this is a good idea puts cards in the hands of more people helping Pokemon expand
They rip you off with game now ripping you off with cards
Gamestop will be doing buyouts on all modern cards.
Most would say it's a bad idea, but overhauling the entire business model from just physical games (on their way out) to buy sell and trade collectibles is probably the only logical route for GameStop.
The biggest question is, will GameStop hire and train the right people to spot fakes? With how many fake gameboy cartridges I've seen come out of GS, I'm doubtful.
I think there’s the true question
youtube deleted my very long and detailed comment but my initial reaction is bruh.
you gotta worry about making the logistics of store displays, POS changes, employee safety, potential theft (internal or external), fakes being traded in, returns or purchasing fraud, etc.
also having a cabinet with 1,000-5000$ of merch puts a target on an innocent employees back for robbery, the only place this would work is in a high foot traffic area with additional security so a high end mall like parks mall, will I know you're in DFW so you understand what happened with the retro games there, prices were silly and they could never keep the games in stock, it'll just fizzle out and not really make it to any other stores besides a very small minority of hand selected ones.
I think they got better things to do with their dying company but yeah, maybe they can sell junk slabs or something...now time to watch the vid.
Dude I was trying to reply to it too!!! I just kept getting errors.
Awesome vid, had no clue they were going to do this. My guess is they bankrupt by 2026.
It’s sad to see
Something that would actually be smart for GameStop to do is act as an "easy" way for people to grade their cards. Submitting to PSA for example is very tedious, regardless of if you wanna submit in bulk or just a few. Imagine you could bring your card to a GameStop and they could just submit it for you at a fee. For a lot of people, the price is worth the time and money it costs to submit to PSA.
There is ZERO chance I would trust GameStop and their minimum wage high school employees to submit my cards lol.
This is so hilarious 😂. The prices will be laughable and the qualifications of a GameStop employee to deal with TCG like this is gonna be a disaster. I hope they go thru with it, I wanna watch it 🔥🔥🔥🤣💀
Yea, it will be interesting to see what happens
Funkoland is the real og 🤣🤙 This idea is gonna sink faster than the titanic. The corporate cut is alot deeper than the lgs….unless their ultimate plan is to absorb lgs….🤔💭 As always, thanks for sharing some great points!
We shall see
ummm i mean, when your trying to complete a set, and you are missing just a couple holos or revers. honestly, i would pay 1 dollar, than driving around all over the city looking for the cards. and if you buy cards on line, the shipping fucks you anyways.
Oh for sure, but that’s not the majority of people.
The only reason this will work w because not everyone has a lgs.
GameStop: “I see you have a PSA 10 evolving skies Umbreon. Best I can do is $10 store credit.”
lol
GameStop implementation of commission for employee incentive on selling and buying graded cards - you’ll pull in better and more knowledgeable employees doing this
True
To be fair anyone that has a base set psa 8 charizard will probably know its value. That probably goes for most people that own slabs. I don’t really know who would be a person that would own psa slabs and think that GameStop would be the best option.
This is a solid point lol.
This will fail but gamestop isnt trying this to "save" the company. They are just fine, branching out and taking risks because they have the cash on hand.
No. They aren’t. They’ve been having major issues for a long time. Even the quote I read where GS employees and excecs were admiring that physical media sales are down, and tcgs are the future, the admission to that. They would not be looking to make radical changes if the company was making money and doing fine.
Reverse hollowing requires a Humanity , not a dollar. How does GameStop not know this?
Good one lol.
GameStop will rip you off worst then the lcs
It’s so dum leave these things for the local shops
If they did it correctly they could probably do quite well. However that would require them to hire a lot of people that know what they are doing and to not scalp their customers. Ergo I doubt it goes well.
Bingo lol
I think this is a way to take advantage of those who need fast money (those who are addicted to substances).
Or just anyone that needs money bro for food or to pay there bills lol I love substances and I still would never sell to gamestop or take likely 30 percent of what my stuff is worth I am even successful worth millions of dollars just because people enjoy substances doesn't mean they are desperate for cash I see sober people that would sell to gamestop for food or too pay there electric bill lol
You sale slabs I think you're just upset that you may lose a buck GameStop is a big company that sale used stuff so Yes Thay pay less than what you could try to get by selling it online but it's a lot more work so what is your time worth to you that's how all company's work
This will affect me zero percent lol.
I can’t wait for a content creator to post a video saying “GameStop sold me a fake PSA” 😂😂😂
Hahahahha. It’s 100% going to happen
I know a number of reverse holos going for a doller or over lmfao 🤣
Not all of them but there are cards from certain sets reverse holos worth a few bucks at best even specialty Japanese cards . And look at the master ball cards
I feel like people who own graded cards would know better than to give them to GS...at least i hope 😳
Let’s hope so!
Can't wait to sell my SIR charizard ex for $0.50 tradein.
Lmao
No shot this is real…. Why??????? Gamestop is cooked 🤦♂️
Yea it’s pretty unbelievable lol.
They must buy all cards at atleast 75% TCG value or better to even be anywhere near successful in this
I have two Lugia V Alt Art PSA 10’s and I’d settle for nothing short of $380 each for them and pricecharting shows $419 currently
They would be better off just started a different company inter the game stop umbrella and make it a card store
Or not have closed Think Geek a few years ago and shifted focus over there
Maybe they just said the Dollar hollow thing because they don't really want them either lol
Hahahahahah
gamestops trash thats all i gotta say
If you scan a psa card it goes to psa website saying number the card is and when graded . Scan a fake it takes you to esty
Unless the fake has a copy of the legit cards scan lol
Isn't the obvious problem that anyone knowledgable enough to send cards into PSA for grading is unlikely to sell at GameStop unless they offer more than the local LGS would.
Yea. But you think corpo bigwigs who don’t know anything but numbers and spreadsheets will think of that? 😂
I think this would be more impactful for GameStop and more damaging for the community if they were buying ungraded cards. I could see a world where kids opening packs sell back a valuable ace spec or supporter for a sub $1 ex.
Yes and no around me theres no card shop in a long drive
That’s an interesting point!
@@DrApplesauceTwo but i agree bad trade in almost positive. Just hope they stay at 60 percent but i really think its going to be hard for them and they could do digital pricing on cards so it automatically changes with market . But for employees that get paid for what they do there is no way this is going to work in there favor. If they dont have a 3rd party business do pricing for them. Let alon new cards that go up and down fast. But idea is great because closing one to me for card shop is 1h30m away for a place that i have more pokemon then them. Lol
My favorite thing I did as a kid was buy a game for $50, beat it that day, then sell it back the next day for $10........... Im gonna try my best to take advantage of this and get my money back from when they robbed me as a kid lolol xD
Ha
You weren’t very smart because they have a return policy on used games, I would keep them for a week then take them back, rarely bought a game😂
@@co_snowy even more so how they get over on people. They never told anyone that. So now we get payback 🤣🤣
I would never . Nothing in my right mind can make me sell anything to game stop
They going to ruin the market big time. Gamestop will drop millions on this across the board, buying them super cheap and sell just below market value so they can set their own prices in the end.
Idk. Hopefully people with graded cards know what they have
I think they will just have the option of you can come in and sell your pokemon cards. Most people who go and sell are in need of money and will accept any price. I am not talking about the small community that know the prices, but avg joe. 100s of stores, they will get customers.
And how I think they will do it is to look at a chart that some people are updating weekly. No negotiations or anything, just by a chart.
the thumbnail 😂😂 my exact thoughts when i heard this news
Hahahah right?
So where do they get prices? Pricecharting lol
😂
But wait theres more gamestop will open a store on whatnot
Now that would be truly awful lol.
I mean it could bring stores to areas that would otherwise not have them. Although not many, there are a few newer holos worth more than $1 (Paldean Fates). I guess we will just have to wait and see how it turns out.
Bro I love your intro God loves us all where his kids
Yes!
Going to get lowballed on your cards
Fo sho
Most 151 reverse holos sell for over a doller 😂
Talking about English here bub.
I’m worried that the trade in will be terrible and I’m scared what they will list the cards for.
We actually were at out local game stop yesterday and noticed they had a trade night advertised for may 4th.
Also, Last month one of the employees wife was trading there on a small table INSIDE the store and my son and I actually traded and bought some from her. But she was NOT a gamestop employee.
I think they might hire people like her, but even then, would not be to confident to go sell there exactly for the low pay reason as video games.
Interesting
The stock is spiking
More traction for pokemon good good
2.50 is higher then what I was thinking lol. Games they give crap for I was going to say graded cards 1 dollar trade in lol.i think it's a bad idea there are fake psa cards out there so if they don't check the serial number but I'd they do it can always be altered and whats inside be a different cards not psa 10 for example. Card shops know how to buy them gamestop not so much.
Yea how will they avoid fakes lol
I was at a GameStop earlier this week and they were already selling their cards for a dollar. Look through them real quick and it was all just a bunch of scarlet and violet hollows and reverses for a dollar a piece
So bulk. 😂😂😂
If I sell my psa cards to them I need to at minimum get 80%
Might get 10% they way they do videos game buys lol.
They're not giving you cash but credits only
@paulleon1469 if that's the case then trash. Lol
Goodbye LGS's.
Love your thumbnail on this one 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahahah I had a chuckle making it 😂🤣😂🥲
I don't like it
Seems weird to me tbh
I actually just went and got a pack of cards yesterday from GameStop and the guy was telling me about this. They will get PSA 10, 9, 8. ALSO they are going to be holding game tournaments and I think that would be good for the fact that they will not be running tournaments that go till midnight like some LGSs but it's like 4-7 or 8:00 and that would be cool I think. But the slabs is gonna be a turd show for real lol
Can’t scam much worse then some LGS. They actually have pretty good deals on cards frequently
whats with the weird god thing in the beginning?
i perfer my poketubers not telling me what my god may or may not due for me, keep that to yourself.
It’s telling people they’re loved. Lots of people have never heard it before and are grateful. If hearing you’re loved for about 2.5 seconds offends you, fortunately there’s umpteen other Pokemon UA-camrs making content out there. Be well friend, I hope you know you’re loved and your life has purpose.
@@DrApplesauceTwo Its just a weird thing to say lmao. Religion, politics, etc aren't topics to touch
If they dont offer at least 75% value. I wont sell anything to them. Probably wont buy anything either.
