This is fantastic! Thank you again for bringing us back to 1979! Its really a much better experience, I think, when we get to see the episodes in real time like this. It feels more intense, seeing the stories build up over weeks and months and on the same days as they were originally broadcast. These episodes somehow have a "like-new" feel to them, which makes it easier to forget the intervening 34 years and start over again.
I was 10 and my mom watched this and then I took over as I got older. Oh I was watching them at 10 because she was watching them... That's why I knew so much about the show I know people were like how does a kid know.... Because my mommy watched it
This is when i started watching the show. I was 15 at the time. Unfortunately, this was also the time, after the new year that ATWT would lose its position as the number one soap that they had for 20 years. To this day I just find that mind blowing. I continued to watch it though, for a while just during the summer and Christmas vacations. I didn't start regularly watching until we got our first VCR in 1981 and I was so excited that i would be able to tape the show every day. My favorite time on the show and probably for a lot of people was the Doug Marland years. That was such a magical time for the show. He really knew what the word "family" meant. The show had its happy times, celebrating its 30th anniversary. That was my favorite anniversary celebration. Also, that was also during the time that my all time favorite storyline came to a close, The Doug Cummings story. It helped to that it featured my favorite all time soap leading lady Kathryn Hays. Also there were some sad times, like the passing of original cast member Don McLaughlin as Chris Hughes.
This is 1979, not 1976. It's so much fun to watch these episodes from before I started watching the show in 1980! I love love love love Kim!!!! My all-time favorite daytime actress: Kathryn Hays!
Aww Kim she always looked perfect and was a great mom and wife. Then there was Lisa.I watched these soaps in my first short marriage with my baby son ( second marriage to police Detective lasted 38 years until I lost him) no soaps.
I Remember when Lisa Had an Affair Michael Shea and he was Married to Ellen Stewart Mother Claire. And I loved when Lisa and Ellen got in a Fight , lol. Ellen Won.
Loved seeing Barbara’s character during the 70s. She was sooo sweet, kind, and generous. Hated the way writers had the character Barbara devolved into a vindictive, vengeful woman. The writers should have kept her like her Aunt Kim.
I may be in the minority, but I LOVED the way Doug Marland transformed Barbara. There was no way her character could have stayed such a victim who didnt learn her lesson, and had any longevity. And as a bitch, you UNDERSTOOD why she became the way she was. A testament to Marlands great writing.

Thanks for the upload! I remember getting off the school bus & running up the driveway to catch the second half of this in 1979.
Lol...that's cute🌹

I love how on the soaps, nobody starts decorating their homes until a few days before Christmas!
Barbara is a beauty🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
My husband is sick I so enjoy the old soaps
I want that hairstyle again that Kim has....it's classy to me...I love it.
If memory serves, Doug Marland was acting as temporary Headwriter for this period, the end of 1979, as he transitioned to Headwriter of Guiding Light.
It does have a Doug Marland vibe.

Love seeing these videos. I vaguely remember this storyline. I was more into GL and SFT at the time but kind of kept tabs on ATWT.
I love Kim!
Classy woman❤️❤️❤️
Lisa open up your eyes, Bennett is crazy
Wish I could turn back the clock to 1979.
I Remember when Lisa Had an Affair Michael Shea and he was Married to Ellen Stewart Mother Claire. And I loved when Lisa and Ellen got in a Fight , lol. Ellen Won.
I wish they would have had more fights. It was always entertaining when those two fought.

Yes I didn't like that either she went from sweet to evil.

I forgot about the actress playing Betsy before Meg Ryan.
1979 Not 1976. Colleen was on the show since September 1978.. Thanks for the Upload 👍 !! XD

What soap dethroned ATWT?
General hospitol...and all my children...i think atwt went from #1 to 3 or 4th almost over night...gh built up the whole abc line up
All My Children in 1978, ironically with the same type of character as ATWT Lisa....Their own Erica Kane.
This is actually 1979 -- not 1976.
I know I was young I don't remember this episode at all....I will have to watch what I missed while I wasnt paying to much attention.
Looks Like Bennett is full of it
Hey Bob what's up....
