  • In honor of civil rights activist, Viola Liuzzo, the City of Detroit and public and private partners have revitalized Viola Liuzzo Park as a place for gathering, historic reflection, and to manage stormwater in the neighborhood. The groundbreaking was in July 2016, with the ribbon cutting of the revitalized park in September 2018. Mrs. Liuzzo is a fallen civil rights hero from Detroit who was slain during the Salem to Montgomery March in 1965.
