Yep Came here because of Super Pumped. What a complete monster. How the Super-Rich destroys people's lives. He is not like Elon Musk! He tries to say he is like Elon Musk he is not like Elon Musk at all. Maybe Steve Jobs! or Jeff Bezos for sure but never like Elon Musk. The audacity.
Because he calculated that if he was in uber black he would make 2000 a week. So he went and bought that car. Days later uber drops prices now he must work harder to make that amount and afford his car
The driver is a moron that's why. He could have gotten a nice car for 20k. Now he pins the consequences of his stupid decision on Uber. How about don't be a moron and purchase an expensive car when you're only job is being a driver. The CEO is right, some people just can't blame themselves for their stupid actions.
Today, an uberX driver is lucky if he/she makes $3 to $5 an hour, after all expenses. That said, a sincere advice to anyone thinking about driving with uber: DON'T. DO NOT BUY A CAR -- LET ALONE A NEW CAR -- TO DRIVE WITH UBER; YOU WILL LOSE -- YOU WILL LOSE. If you're that desperate, at least get a job where you can earn something without having to buy a vehicle that will cost you tens of thousands of dollars, which, at the end of the day, it'll cost you more than you'll be making driving with uber. You're better off working for McDonald's or Walmart, and these are only examples, because you don't need a vehicle that will cost you tens of thousands of dollars, and a full coverage insurance that will cost you thousands of dollars; and, because you will surely earn twice as much as you "MAY" earn driving with uber. TRUST ME -- IF YOU GO TO DRIVE WITH UBER, YOU WILL LOSE MONEY FROM YOUR POCKET; AND, BEFORE YOU KNOW IT, YOU WILL GO BROKE AND BANKRUPT. Nothing against uber; it is just the truth.
humanparadox He stood up with wrong information. Uber Black is essentially unchanged from when it was introduced. The driver's bright vision is to overcharge the customer and only serve the highest end of the market that can afford inflated rates. That's what taxi and limos services have done for decades. The driver's assertions were all wrong and his boss called him on it.
Revan lol, the Serf is giving financial advice to BILLIONAIRE CEO who's out on a threesome. I also love it how colonic reaches in for a handshake and leans over to the driver with a totally fake look of concern and empathy. Ha! Classic.
To summarize what Uber did: Lowered fares by 35% Increased their cut by 5% Made the vehicle Lexus an UberX (Anyone who has these cars will lose a ton of fare cause UberX has the lowest fare) It was previously an UberBlack (Most expensive fare) To put that in prespective; you buy a $92000 car on loan expecting to make $5000 a month and suddenly due to uninformed and major changes you're making $2000 a month and have this big ass loan that you can't pay.
Maybe just drive for a private limo company then? with those kind of cars, fuck uber. If you go out to buy a hundred thousand dollar car for Uber , youre Uber stupid. No one feels bad for the guy with a hundred grand car. Get a real fucking job.
Just curious why start out with a very expensive car anyway? No one is meant to trust these businesses when something goes wrong. It's possible to purchase a used car with decent gas mileage for much less than that. Plus after putting in the mileage and wear and tear, the value of that 92k car will go down. Not worth using a car that expensive for uber or any driver job in general.
Mo Ramahi The more "expensive" or luxury your car is, the better chance of you getting more c business bc you can drive UberX or Uber Black. Better looking, fresh cars get better ratings which is supposed to increase your value but it doesn't. So they hook you in with a plan like that, add in the previous rates and that $92k is looking affodable and advantageous. If a business model is changed with no notice, it'll make any employee investing in that company foolish.
Mohammad Al-Zawahreh wow $2000/month is more than I make working minimum wage! I'm totally gunna drive with uber since I already have a car and wasn't stupid enough to take out a loan to drive for a company with no solid payout rate
the real losers are the people who invest in a new car just to drive for a company that plans to have driverless cars in 5 years . does that make any sense.?
It fills me with pride seeing people stand up for their rights against tyrannical corporate interest. Driver, if you are reading these comments, you are the man times a million!

Most reasonable comment so far. They dont get paid that much because there are hundreds of people willing to become a driver in their place. The job is not high skilled or in high demand. If everyone and their dog stopped becoming uber drivers, maybe he would have to pay more for their services. Just how the market works.
There's like a bunch of other apps he could drive for so it's not exactly like telling your boss to go F himself, but good for him for recording this and posting it
Ned Ryerson How do we know it wasn't the driver's fault he lost $97K? He wasn't listening to anything Kalanick said, he gave reasons why he had to make changes. All the driver cared about was himself, not the company, Kalanick addressed all his questions, he said they were doing what he wanted anyways just not the exact way he wanted and he flipped out.
the driver was Respectful. it was the uber ceo who swore and took the conversation to a more heated level. The driver has ever right to voice his opinion, Especially if he has been with the company since almost day 1 (which i thought i heard him say) I hope everything works out for that driver.
harlemhornet Yhea, hopefully he gets off his ass and gets a real job. It's got to be sad making $2 an hour knowing you're getting paid a fraction of teenagers working at McDonald's.
harlemhornet 99% of the rich are assholes. That's why I feel good stealing from them. It's better for society and with the internet it's impossible to get caught. Fuck 'em
The ceo of uber seems like a nice guy, he is willing to just talk with an employee about genuine concerns he has as an uber driver, but it was when the driver started to get a little hostile that he got frustrated
Uber deliberately targets low skilled mainly migrant workers into purchasing or leasing cars on the promise of a consistent and guaranteed income, it is a lie. Those drivers are forced to work 70-90 hour weeks just to break even and they have no holiday pay, no sick pay, no pension and no rights. Uber aggressively undercuts the established ( and fair rates ) of local and municipal taxi firms by saturating the market with low skilled drivers who are committed by financial servitude to working all hours. Uber represents the very worst of the so- called GIG economies who sole purpose is to exploit their workers with promises of El Dorado but realities of effective slavery. The era of no working rights is upon us and anyone who uses Uber should be ashamed of themselves.
Then quit! Nobody is forcing them to work for uber, if Uber is such a shitty job then find a better one. I used to work a shitty food service job for minimum wage, I didn't think I was getting paid enough, asked for a raise, was denied and I quit the next month and got another job. Nobody is forcing these drivers to do anything
the2step your not correct, uber tricks you into buying a car thru their loan program , then lowers the fares so you can barely make the payments. Sure you could just quit, but then your car is repossessed and your credit rating goes in the tank and your out all the money you spent on the car, several thousand dollars. So basically they trap you.
bromike this is why people have to research what they do before they do it, if you believe everything you hear you deserve what comes to you, if something is too good to be true, it usually is, nobody is forcing shit, this is still a free country even if no one believes it, if I tell you that I'll give you a million dollars, but first you have to give me $10,000, would you do it?
Uber CEO is correct. Competitors will come and drive them out of business and Uber is history. He could have been said, here's my card, give me a call, and we'll talk, shake his hand, move on.
I didn't realize Costco and Trader Joes were in the same industry as Uber. But if it works for bulk groceries, it must work for all business, right? Which books about business management have you again?
Lets start from the end Uber business model is the biggest scum unethical business model that the US have ever known. He must be bringing the right people to keep operating without regulations.
Uber wasn't supposed to be the equivalent of a taxi service. Uber drivers were supposed to be individuals who already own cars using their free time (and existing car) to pick up and deliver pedestrians who wanted a CHEAPER means of travel. I am not an Uber or Lyft driver (or any other type of for-pay driver). However, the people who think that Uber is a means to BUY A NEW CAR to use Uber as a career are simply misguided. To be viable, Uber has to cost less than a taxi. The full-time Uber drivers who are investing in a new vehicle for the sole purpose of using it for Uber have lost the concept that Uber is an alternative. DON'T QUIT YOUR DAY JOB.
@C. Murphy - Let me address those issues... 1.) No one is supposed to be putting on 50,000 miles per year with Uber. Even if you drove 50K miles per year, two years accumulates 100K miles -- hardly justification for tossing a vehicle. I have a vehicle that my parents gave me. It has more than 350,000 miles on it. Taxis are notorious for packing on the miles. Mileage doesn't necessarily correlate to a bad vehicle. Maintenance and upkeep can keep a vehicle running well for easily more than 300,000 miles. More importantly, Uber was never meant to be a career as a taxi driver. It was designed to be supplemental income for individuals during their free time. They aren't supposed to give up their day job. 2.) No one forces you to drive with Uber or Lyft. If it isn't worthwhile, stop doing it. If more people stop working with the service, then Uber will shift to attract more drivers. I will say this: I live in the Bay Area. Uber drivers are always within two minutes of my house. I usually use Uber when I need a drive to the airports in San Jose or San Francisco (rather than taking CalTrain). I take Uber because of convenience and, more importantly, it is faster and cheaper than a taxi. My last trip to SJC from my house in Palo Alto was virtually the same price as a taxi. If that happens again, then I will simply order a taxi.
They can expand...but that doesn't mean that the CEO or the company is responsible for some of the decisions of drivers who sign up. No one told this driver to buy an expensive car for the sole purpose of being a full-time Uber driver with it. The truth be told: Most Uber drivers in the Bay Area (where they live) are either part-time drivers or they drive full-time for BOTH Uber and Lyft. Some drive for Uber and Lyft AND deliver food or merchadise with Amazon, GrubHub, etc. I know this because I have gotten rides to the SJC airport from a guy with Uber...who was the same guy who picked us up with Lyft....who was the same guy who delivered dinner from Chef Chu's.
Your argument makes the most sense; but, I also tend to agree that the demand absolutely requires full-time Uber drivers. I think that is why the drivers pushed so hard to be recognized as employees as opposed to "contractors". This would be a great time for someone (from corporate) to chime in with inside information lol.
Chris M buddy what are you talking about? They offer you financing to go get a car and drive for them full time please get your stuff straight before you start an argument. Their whole promotion is quit your job you can make more money with uber.
I know right??? Warren Buffet comes out there and literally says nothing relevant twice a year and anyone that's associated with finance losses their shit... This guy covertly tells the driver "with that naive attitude prepare to keep get fucked" and he doesn't choose to listen...
As an Uber driver, all I can say is: "What the heck were you thinking going into $97,000 debt to drive a depreciating asset?" Not to brag or anything but I bought a nice Toyota Sienna minivan that was 10 years old that had 200,000 miles for $5,000 cash to drive for Uber. Been driving part time for 2 years and it is still running strong. That is how you can actually make money in this business. Lesson to learn. NEVER lease or buy a new car to drive for a rideshare company.
SxKushxS That's true, but a boss speaking to an employee using foul language is completely unprofessional. In or outside of the work place, it's uncalled for.
I don't want to defend Travis, because he's wrong about some things, but this driver handled this all wrong. He raised his voice, started throwing accusations around, and took the conversation to a place it didn't need to go. You're not going to change anyone's mind by screaming at them.
Uber is worse than payday loans People work for Uber end up working minimum wage or less. This CEO just wants a personal driver where ever he goes with all the accessories of actually owning that car. Uber is a just a business fronting on the backs everyday people. Uber has no real value, just an inflated stock price. Uber should be collectively sued by its drivers in a class action lawsuit. Uber is just buying time to replace all the drivers with robots. Then they can lower the price even more. This driver obviously doesnt deserve a living /s
I agree what Travis did was wrong but I am able to generate $1200+ per week doing it consistently and plan on upgrading to LUX to double that per week. So it is like any profession it is what you make it and your attitude can determine how much or how little you make. Also a good approach and knowing where to be makes all the difference. I do nothing other than airport runs and never work late nights ever. I am glad the driver made light of this publicly so everyone knows they do need to raise rates for all drivers. Heck I want to make 2K per week raise them Travis!
I watched this video because of Super Pumped and I can’t believe I’m now on Travis’s side in this interaction. Somebody bought a new car because they thought they’d make more money. And the market changed and they were wrong. This is not the working class struggle story it is made out to be.
Totally agree. The driver is an idiot and actually waited until the end of the ride with his confrontation and video setup. This is liberal nonsense to get mad at the evil business owner.
lol, I just got here from Super Pumped too, I was expecting him to have said some really awful things to the driver from the way they portrayed it on the show..
Where's the seatbelt? Why no seatbelt? Can we discuss how the CEO of a driving company doesn't value his own safety or the liability he's creating for drivers through his negligence to safety and basic laws.
Mateo M the whole purpose of Uber is to provide a service to riders.. soo what the fuck are you talking about? If these drivers want to make a bigger income they should go to college and get an education and apply for a job offering a higher salary like everyone else
s Even part time drivers need an incentive to drive. If the fares are too low, the extra income isn't a sufficient motivator. You incur risks driving Uber, you could pop a tire, have other car troubles, get robbed, get in a wreck. Gas is constantly required. In all of these cases Uber does not step in to help. In some cities you can make decent enough money to offset these costs. In others Uber is essentially a minimum wage job people fall back on out of desperation. It's terribly imbalanced. Huge cities with large surges means tons of money. Do you think they charged as much in China before they withdrew as they do in LA? India? Et al? And a network of exclusively part time drivers is untennable, the demand is 24 hours a day in most service areas. That depends on drivers being constantly available.
Brother, thanks for enlightening me. Now I know why America is the best country in the world. You atleast have something called minimum wage per hour. I mean, I used to think that tips to waiters is ridiculous. I hope Trump changes everything. Now, even drivers are getting fucked too, just like waiters. Maybe I said that ironically that America is the best. Maybe I didn't. I'm from a 3rd world country and now I understand why America is better.
Middle Class Worker: You dropped the rates (our wages) significantly Billionaire CEO: Some people like to blame everything in their lives on other people.
I also lost money driving for Uber in L.A and OC, it's horrible, I bought a Prius exclusively to drive for uber back in 2013, when their ads said a driver could make $60k/year. That is if you worked 12 hours a day, 7 days a week then maybe, you could make 60k before taxes. And every time I ride with Lyft, the drivers complain about that, people are buying cars and getting in debt, it's all lies, meanwhile, this douchebag is filling his pockets and giving interviews and speeches around the world and people bow to him. What a shame!
Art Silva Serious question. Why would you buy a car just to work for Uber or Lyft? I thought the whole appeal was making money doing something that isn't too hard with a car you already have? Did you not own a car before? And did you then buy a new Prius? If so, why a Prius? There are many cheaper cars you could have bought.
Grayson Carr wow your not so bright dude. He was just telling a story of his experience. Uber passes info when applying painting a picture they can help you get a car and easily make it accessible to afford/make money. Obviously he needed a car in hindsight that may have made more sense buying a economical vehicle. Why ask retarted questions? Your mother should have name your dumbass Uber.
Art Silva my dad could work those days and hours all year around for more than a year and still not make that. Get used to it, it's the world we live in. Your fault for buying a car. That was a dumb move by you.
Grayson Carr, It was back in 2013, Uber was a new thing and only available in a few cities, at that time, the vehicles had to be 2010 and up, those were the requirements. I was driving a 2007 Tacoma, which was not allowed so I traded it in and got a 2011 Prius with just short of 40k miles. I chose the hybrid for obvious reasons, to save money on gas. Back then, the ads were everywhere, you couldn't go online without seeing an ad saying Uber was hiring and drivers could make 60k/year. A few months after I bought the car, they changed their policies as most drivers would work for a couple of months and quit, that's when they were accepting 10 year old vehicles, and I was like "oh that's just great, now I'm stuck making payments on a Prius" lol. When Lyft rolled around, Uber changed their policies again and now you can drive any piece of crap, they need drivers, the churn rate is unbelievable, drivers will start and a few weeks later, they realize they are making less than minimum wage, I'm not joking, do a quick google search and you'll see how many articles and videos will pop up on that issue, that's why Uber started another company, now they are in the business of vehicle financing/leasing. It's nothing short of a huge scam, they say "don't have a car? No problem, you can now lease one from us" Guess how much? $240/week!!! that's $1000/ month bro, to drive a freaking Nissan Versa! Grayson, Uber is a huge scam but it doesn't matter, Kalanick along with some of their early investors are making a fuck ton of money, if the company goes bankrupt in a couple of years, who cares. I feel sorry for the drivers, look man, this video is an example of what I just said, the driver is complaining bro, they're not making money, barely even minimum wage. I learned a lesson: DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!
Eduardo, back in 2013 Uber was a novelty and you couldn't turn on the radio, or TV or your computer without seeing some article or news reporter praising Uber as "the new shit". A lot of people got "taken for a ride" (pun intended). I don't know if you remember all the protests all over the world, Uber drivers were pissed everywhere because of their lies, and Uber kept slashing rates and increasing their own commission. This is actually a business model, a shitty one but still.... start a company with other people's money, take everything you can while it lasts and then let the company go broke and file for bankruptcy, that's why 90% of start ups fail! 90% dude!!! And yet, the CEO's assets are protected by law. Watch the video again, at the end, the driver says "at some point, people won't buy cars anymore". He is right, the hype is over, back then, was a new thing, we didn't know it was bad, when I purchased a car, I saw it as an investment in my own new business, after all, they said I could make 60k/year so it made sense financially to spend $15K, if what they promised was true, I would have paid my investment in full in the first year. Lesson learned. I always comment on every video I see and even on their ads on FB, so people know it's not a good job, it's a much better option to actually get a job than believe in the "work when you want and make money" bullshit. Unfortunately, there are people out there who think like you and accept the "Get used to it, It's the world we live in" premise. Even when your own father is eating shit. You don't read much, do you? smh
The taxi industry is fucked. The whole reason the taxi industry is such bullshit is because their union are militant soldiers. That's why uber CAN undercut them, because taxi's charge so fucking much for a shithouse service.
gusugsugus In the USA maybe. Here in Europe the Taxi industries isn't fucked because people pay up to 300k for a taxi licence. Because of that many people take loans. They will fight till they death with Uber.
The driver was making false claims and wouldn't listen to Kalanick's responses. Instead he kept aggressively escalating the conversation. Very rude of the driver.
Whatever man, You are not in a union and you choose when you work. If you're not liking the way you're treated don't drive for then anymore. Drive a taxi. Noone is forcing you to do shit.
SimplyCanadian fucking ignorant you dont even know the kinds of sacrifices some drives have done for this company like buying cars that we dont need personally but we do need them to work and this fucking thieft ends up fucking us over
elvis santana it's their choice to work for an app son with no unions benefits or anything. I mean they should know that there are risks for having such an easy ass job without having any requirements other than knowing how to drive and not being a felon. At best uber should be a side job not full time
elvis santana ... Grow up bud. Stop drinking the Kool-aid. It's not a normal job, it self ordained. That's like bitching at UA-cam because you bought a bunch of camera gear and computer but you're not getting alot of views and ad revenue.
Andrea Mitchell .. That's literally the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my entire life. So thank-you. I will always remember that comment and when my future wife asked me what the dumbest thing I've ever heard, I will repeat your comment. Seriously, I'm going to screen cap this comment, print it out, and frame it. I will probably make a video on it. Thank-you so much!
This driver is correct. You've lost my business (to Lyft and Cabs) because I felt so guilty for how little money the Uber drivers made. You do not include a tip option (I always tip in cash, unless I don't have it on hand). With Lyft, I can tip them. You aren't paying your drivers a living wage. You've made a Huge mistake on taking your business on the lowest margins (for the drivers, not you). And, after you watching you drunk in an uber, and blaming the driver, I'm done with you Uber. Lyft (and cabs) all the way. This driver was totally right. You had the business in your hands and you made bad choices, and, evidently, you're kind of an asshole. I'm an Airbnb host, who has encouraged her guests to download Uber or Lyft, and I'll be referring to Lyft only. Sorry. Don't be an asshole.
Saratoga OBRental amen. I used to be an uber driver and even after I stopped doing ride share I will not use uber for a ride because of the hate I have for that company.
Saratoga OBRental Oh, the irony! The company you work for is contributing to gentrification, and the expedition of the next fast-approaching house market crash. Don't throw stones, and all that...
The driver doesn't understand basic economics. Competition drives down prices. And it's not the CEO's fault that demand for high-priced black car rides fell off. As the ride-share market drastically expanded, including the sheer number of drivers, of course the individual driver's chunk of the action got broken up and diminished. The overwhelming trend was towards much lower-priced rides for the average customer, and proportionally fewer black car rides for high end cutomers. The CEO was obviously annoyed at being wrongly accused, and didn't have time to give the driver a basic microeconomics course.
"Some people don’t like to take responsibility for their own shit," says CEO who broke just about every labor and licensing regulation then bribed public officials to get away with it.
Peter Pan II .. at this time of the video. He wasn’t a legit billionaire yet,.. all on paper as his company like now is private. After this video surfaced, this was the last straw for him as CEO.. his board canned him, and then he sold his stock and officially became a Billionaire. But he founded this company. That’s embarrassing.
Rudy Ogunde exactly, they created an opportunity for nobodies without any education to get some cash and of course some dumbasses tried making it into a business. guess what, you ain't a business if you're an uber driver just like you ain't a business if you have a Facebook business page.
The driver is right. UBER put a big strain on the Private Drivers and Taxi Business. UBER lowered fares so low to corner the market to put the taxis out of business. UBER made promises like "Make $28 hr driving" so hundred thousands of people signed up and went out and bought new cars. It is sad because In reality UBER drivers are lucky to make the minimum wage. Plus UBER does NOT allow tipping. Most UBER costumers feel so bad that they are paying less then half of a Taxi fare that they wanna tip, but there are no options for that. Tipping is not allowed.
Tre Warren Thats why taxis have limits on the amount of cars allowed on the road. Same should be done with any type of taxi transport. So then everyone wins
Love how some of the comments are saying that he got owned. Kalanick is guilty of one thing in this video: arrogance. I'm having a very hard time seeing how Kalanick is responsible for the driver's debt and bankruptcy. The only thing that's changed here is the demand for UberBlack, and that you can chalk up to basic supply/demand and increased competition as opposed to Kalanick's actions.
jshongify Kalanick requested all black fleet owners to update their cars after they had invested thousands. imagine how you would feel after you had bought several 2010-12 model Suburban to be told you need to buy 2014-15 models after just a year. he also eliminated tips *lying to the customer saying tips are included then after a lawsuit changed it to tips are not necessary (*too late customers already are used to not tipping) Uber drivers. also will deactivate your account if you speak up.or over any unsubstantiated allegation or will take for Uber days or weeks to reactivate you because they don't have enough customers service reps... they treat drivers like shut at their office no respect. funk uber
jshongify Spot on. Hate the game not the player. Driver is blaming rational economics. Kalanick's fault was not having the emotional maturity of an adult let alone a major (scandalous 2017) CEO. It's more emblematic of how from the top down his company deals with perceived threats - childishly and punitively.
jshongify If you would have done some research the answer is very simple. when he signed up for the car uber was paying more money for every ride. they have continually cut prices on drivers to the point of drivers having to work 60 hours just to pay for the car. it was a good investment when he got it, but uber kept fucking him over.
kaos092 so change jobs. It's not easy but it is possible. He's no indentured servant and the business model intends to displace human labor in the foreseeable future anyway. Kalanick is a dick for sure - attitude-wise - but he's being a rational business leader.
I worked for uber in my past life. Learned quickly that this platform is only for quick cash on a day off or as some drivers I met just to "talk to people" uber should not be taken As a full time employment position. The money is not there.
I agree with the driver. We make a lot less now than we did a few years ago. And to those of you sticking up for the CEO, saying get a different job. I did, and I'm better off for it. Too much headache, for too little appreciation and little to no tips.
Seriously, how much do you make in 8 hours a day for Uber on the average? Me in TN, $100. No matter the day or time of day range. $30 a day on gas, so mainly $70. Only good as a side hustle with another part or full time job that doesn't require driving your own car. Uber is great, just not as a one full time gig.
GoodFilms28 what % did you pay in taxes? I'm thinking 15%? also what about maintenence to your vehicle, insurance, wear and tear, depreciating value of your vehicle? what % did you make in the end? I'm just curious. thx
Travis was right. If the driver wasn't making enough driving then he should've chosen another line of work. TK helped create the gig economy and in the end flew too close to the sun. Most people will never even come close to being as ambitious as he was. Zuck, Musk, Jobs, Bezos are all hated yet we use their innovations everyday. Not everyone is cut out for the octagon
A lot of people in the comments don't understand business. Instead they are too focused on jumping on the bandwagon of crucifying the CEO because "big money = evil", which Im not saying isn't true much of the time. But the thing is Kalanick is obligated to do what is best for the company as a whole, not just the drivers. It's a balancing act that unfortunately isn't always going to benefit everyone on the scale because the shareholders have more importance than the drivers. You could argue that drivers are the heart of the company, which is true. But there is no short supply of drivers, hence they are not a valuable resource. If you're going to argue the principle of the matter, Uber doesn't owe the driver anything. The driver came to Uber to work for them, not the other way around.
tear728 an unfortunate problem with Uber is the inherent lack of disclosure on their end that result in Uber drivers being paid less than minimum wage by not automatically deducting taxes or accounting for the replacement and maintenance fees/insurances for the vehicle. With vehicle replacements being about every 4-6 years. when Uber drivers sign up they don't know they aren't being automatically deducted for the tax or the about the other costs of doing uber
This comment is exactly what I was looking for. The guy might be a dick but unfortunately this is how businesses have to be run in order to be profitable. The driver should stop complaining and work somewhere else.
Yeah they suck. They Take advantage of hard working people. If you had no rent no bill just lived out of you car it would be ok. If a driver had to drive within dot regulation they would not make much at all. Insurance, fuel, maintenance, cleaning, tires. It all ads up.
Things I learned driving for Uber: 1. Most people are alright people. 2. There is an inverse relationship between wealth and being an alright person. 3. Uber is not a career, it's a payday loan with better terms. When you do the math you are basically trading part of the life of your vehicle for cash at a 1 to 1 ratio based on depreciation.
Unfortunately many Uber and Lyft drivers do not read their warranty and insurance policies. Driving commercially voids coverage under most of these contracts.
This^^^ but lets blame the CEO here and the innocent driver who knowingly is taking a risk of accident where they won't be covered for liabilities and damages is completely innocent.
Steven Bustamante How does any of that have relevance to the market strategies taken by Kalanick or falling fares for the drivers? Were they arguing about who should carry the burden of insurance costs? No? Okay so then why would you even bring it up?
Because youtube comments are alway strictly on-topic. He brought it up because it fits the pattern of Kalanick's douchey selfish race-to-the-bottom ethic.
I drive for Uber and have commercial insurance, most don't and are fucked if anything happens. Also, most people who drive on weekends only to make ends meet. Have no idea of the tax implications and will be in trouble, not knowing how an independent contractor works. Basically, save all your receipts, write mileage from home to home down and put 15% of earnings away for taxes. Uber doesn't tell anyone how to plan for taxes once they start earning money.
Uber is meant to be a thing on the side, if you're not happy with it, get a fucking real job. Anyone can sign up to be an uber driver, its not like you have to pass an interview, hand over your CV and get an interview or you studied for years at school to become an uber driver. As long as your car qualifies and you have a license, boom you can be an uber driver. Don't like it, get a real job.
Gary Hughes I agree. I'm a software tester during the day and uber is for a quick $20 in 2 hours. Hahaha. Atlanta is horrible with payouts. So much competition.
Gary Hughes True...no one should see this as main job...if anything, they should see it as a part time job. I never worked for Uber but if you have a part time job and you can't get another part time job because they need you available at all times..then Uber is perfect.
Nobody is perfect... sorry baby..he opened the way... another will make better app.... Facebook not was the first social network... The first social network is forgiven... This is the world
How so? Because the driver was yelling? Do you lose arguments because you get yelled at and therefore cower and submit? The CEO made valid points of why they had to do what the driver was angry about.
Ummmm, he didn't get owned at all. The CEO cost the driver $97,000 and forced him into bankruptcy? Fucking please. What sort of bullshit claim is that? This driver is a boo-hoo'ing baby who is upset full-time job of driving a car all day can't finance his debt. Fuck the driver.
I'm going to start a new topic. This CEO has a company that is worth 60 billion THAT'S 60 BILLION!!!!!!!! 327,000 Uber drivers are out there MAKING HIM A BILLIONAIRE!!!! 60 times over!!!!! What will rack your brain is how much a billion actually is, it's 1,000 million!!!! Ok, now let's get down to how much it will stress the CEO out to allow all drivers to make $20 per hour. Let me put it this way, there is nothing that the CEO will do or buy differently. It will do absolutely NOTHING to his lifestyle, but for the average UBER driver??? It is life changing. Now multiply this times 2,000 because that's how many greedy CEO types are out there, exploiting the backs of the little guy.
Shirohige a lot of uber drivers dont have a choice or other jobs to go to. you're an idiot if you think it's their fault, or you think they deliberately work in a shitty job- people obviously wouldn't choose a job that pays so little, dont be ignorant.
Look its obvious people have shitty job options especially since 2008. But that being said, it is the CEO that provides an OPTION for you to work for them. Most rich people started off really low/middle class. There are other jobs available but they also pay minimum wage right? So work your way up. I think if you are really concerned about how much your boss makes, you have the wrong mindset. The right mindset is to think about your job contract not his. The only time you should be thinking about your bosses' salaries are as an inspiration to work your way up.
SimmonSays and that's the market. I wish that driver could make more but not every business decision is easy. I'm not saying Uber is innocent but sometimes prices have to come down or you'll be priced out of the market. this guy saying you can charge more everyone will still use Uber isn't the case. If any business could charge and make more they would. That's business.
MrWolfSnack you have past reviews and what not on an Uber. the app shows you who is picking you up and there is record when you get picked up and when you arrived at your destination. Way more record than a taxi. And try calling a taxi in a crowded bar and wait a half hour or you can pull an app out and press a button and have a cheaper ride in many areas in less time.
LOL. Go in a phone book and call a real cab? Who even has house phones now? Cabs are slow, you actually need to know the exact location you are at and relay that back to the person, taxi drivers can take an alternative path AND CHARGE YOU EXTRA. I hate cabs for that reason. If you aren't a local, they'll take a longer path. Cabs are sometimes dirty, you don't know who is picking you up, and you can't rate them. On top of that, they NEVER INNOVATE. Uber actually changed up the industry and cab drivers are pissed lol. I would much rather go on my phone, open an app, and order an uber in a specific type of car! Do i want an SUV, i got that. A black car, i got that. Plus i can see where they are as they are coming to my location. ALL THROUGH ONE APP. Plus, it's just as easy to get robbed in a cab.
Brendan Waugh not correct. Uber does charge the rider more. they raised initial max surge of 2.0x fare up to 10x fare in my city. the difference is, the company gets more of the cut.
Golden Goddess max surge is only in effect on super busy days and it's supply and demand on those days and maybe those days it makes sense to take a cab. But I take an Uber at least once a week in multiple cities and it's still the cheaper more convenient option for me
Travis' mistake was engaging in conversation with him. When the difference in knowledge is that big, there's nothing to debate about. If the driver is too good for Uber, he's free to leave.
the same time he says "some people don't like to take responsibility for their actions" is the same time he starts getting out of the car.....like he was talking about himself or something. hahaha
Ange Guti people do tend to project their insecurties on other people like one looks in the mirror. people do tend to say things at an emotional time to show their true colors he doesnt seem to of handled that too well as an leader.
Wesley B Not CEO responsability ? Seriously ? He changed the rules making a lot of loss for the driver and you said he have no responsability... What a joke ! If your boss change your salary and put you in difficulty to pay your bill, will you say that your boss is not responsable of your new situation ?
mike james CEO needs to listen to his workers or CEO will watch his company fall. Maybe not this one, but if he can't take criticism of his company, whether it's bad or good, then he's gonna drop that ball.
Exactly, and that is only one of the reasons why the country will probably cease to exist. The only thing that keeps it together is the belief that "everyone has a chance" (aka "the american dream"). Well the dream is over and reality is showing its ugly face, and it is a country divided between rich and poor, democrat and republican, liberal and conservative, black and white, "native" and immigrant, religious and non-religious, etc, etc. it is destined to fail.
koopag8 Well they are talking about business, one is a CEO one is cab driver... all these jobs will unfortunately be autnomized in 5-10 years anyways so it really isn't smart to try and make this your career. It's a startup they have move quick and make tough changes.
Make no mistake, Uber cares NOTHING for its drivers. If the laws allowed it and the technology was all there (might well be by the time this comment is a month old), Uber would replace ALL of its drivers with self-driving cars. It's where its headed.
diapersFTMFW11 JewBoy Kalanick makes more cash sitting on the toilet taking a shit than this rude MUSLIM driver makes sitting in his cab ALL YEAR. Travis was really upset about this argument until 3 minutes later when the two blonde shixas started simultaneously blowing him.
!#118Columbus. This remark shows how obtuse you really are. I came from software engineering field, I can say with a moral certainty that will not happen. No more than instrument flight (since Sept. 1929) replaced pilots. Modern aviation has advanced exponentially since but pilots are here to stay forever, same way with thieving Uber, they will forever need drivers to stay in business. By the way, they stole that tech from Alphabet (Google) R&D. And Travis & Co were bitch slapped with law suit just last week. I see that you are Travis butt plugger. Enjoy!.
I drove Uber in ATL for a little while out of necessity. It made me feel really low. I was making a little more than minimum wage most nights after expenses. There policy kept getting stricter and the expectations kept getting higher. That's along with the fact that they expect drivers to offer 5 star professional service for no more than what a chain store cashier makes is ridiculous.
A store cashier doesn't risk their life every day on the road (driving is the most dangerous thing the average person does every day). Travis's mother died in an accident on a yacht her billionaire son bought her with this blood money. If that's not the universe giving the biggest middle finger to Travis, than I don't know what Karma is.
@@super266 thats true. But then again driving around with a ford focus. U cant expect to make big money and it does undercut the higher luxury cars that Kalanick only wanted. But then they had to open it to everyone with a license cus Lyft was doing it.
@@joebriggs5781 you're overlooking the fact that Travis is the Uber-POS that he is because of how she raised him. She also likely advised him at every point of the way, fully aware of the suffering she's helping inflict on millions of people just wanting to make a respectable living. The universe knows how to hurt you, and I'm sure her accident put a tremendous emotional toll on him.
Uber is equivalent to a payday loan scam. Drivers make a few dollars today and tomorrow their car is worth nothing and they have to buy a new car with money they don't have. Average driver makes 9 bucks an hour after expenses. People defend the CEO and say they should get different jobs. You do realize the drivers are taking your life and your loved ones lives in their hands everyday on the road. Keep enjoying your low fares and eventually you will end up only with the worst of drivers who don't care about your life. I think people that drive me should be paid more than people that make me a hamburger but that's just me. Imagine if flying was like Uber and the pilots made 9 bucks an hour so you could fly for 50 bucks. Don't ride Uber, if you do you are supporting the exploitation of migrant workers who have little other choice.
Flying is exactly like that. Also if your options are drive for Uber or don’t have a job, do you really want Uber to make business decisions that will put them out of business?
He's with two girls. He's enjoying himself. He's happy. He responds with a calm head and full confidence until the driver starts to lose it, and he hits him right back. Every answer he gives to the driver is on 100%. And when Travis tries to help him feel better talking about lux and how black hasn't lowered prices, the driver flips. GO TRAVIS.
exchange the scenario ... any other place with yourself. and you and Travis ... and he could care less who you are. you are just a number among a vast sea of numbers.
Have you seen Uber corporate parties in Vegas, salaries and other perks their office employees are getting? Like it is just obscene and all at cost of Uber driver's who make less than minimum wage and operate their own vehicles. The only way Uber then prospers is on the backs of [unlimited] amount of new drivers than join them only to find out the stone cold truth a couple of months later and ultimately then leave too and where Uber just ends up with the worst of the worst drivers who are just desperate and destroy Uber from fun and cool thing to a truly miserable cabbies. However, even the [unlimited] amount of drivers is almost over after 5 years as nobody wants to drive Uber anymore and in fact Ubers incentive fees for new drivers are actually tripled in the last year, i.e. it woulda actually cost them much cheaper if they paid better rates and less drivers would leave as well as compete and wish to drive for Uber
I love the comments in which people say "no one forced you to work for them" well if you don't expose an injustice or don't like the new policies is it wrong to speak out about it. Btw this man is most likely an immigrant so he does not have many options.
ever greatest no it’s not wrong to speak up and do something about it. If you think 🤔 about how much money 💰 Uber is losing then a lot drivers are gonna do the same as this guy did.
This driver was magnificent. Not only does he have a solid argument he also has the guts to speak up. The Uber POS CEO is going to have to eat a lot of shit now because of his ego. He will be dogged by this and will have to apologize to this driver. Love IT! Praise I AM, Michael Idarecis
Judgemental_ the govt fucked taxi jobs over. they let this half ass regulated business slide thats not even a decent way of making money. Its crap like a lemonade stand. This company just vacuums wealth to the top percentile. Morals need to be in the market.. Or does everything in life have a purchase tag? You stand behind a very odd position. Morality doesnt have much to do with business. unless you're talking about externalities. Uber will probably be out of service soon once self driving cars from other companies hit the mainstream.
The change in fees changes everything. The guy bought the car and was told one set of facts and the ceo changed it up on the drivers. He is crap the driver is correct. If the driver was incorrect then why did the CEO apologize? Praise I AM, Michael Idarecis
You realize your name is on display everytime you make a comment, right? You don't need to sign the bottom of every comment like a letter lol we all know you're michael idarecis.
stuppard serge yeah getting richer by dropping prices. Nice logic. If uber is your main source of income then go back to school, get educated and get a real job.
I dont understand why Kalanick got in trouble over this, its clear that the driver was trying to start an argument with him all Kalanick did was defend himself the driver was being very aggressive and rude.
Lyft and Uber are terrible. Except Lyft actually drove fares down and advertises how much they care about their drivers because they allow the PASSENGER to tip on the platform. I have driven for both, and they both make a killing off of other people hard work driving around drunk people at 2am. THEY DO NOT NEED 25% OF EVERY FARE.
SlammedHemi nah hard work is passing off all business expenses off to the peons (drivers) with gas, maintenance, taxes, wear and tear, drivers make below minimum wage. I guess asking to be treated fairly from a monopolizing company that used shady business practices of false advertising and bait and switch is too much.
JL heres an idea, get a real job like the rest of us... thinking you were going to make a killing driving a fucken car around is just being lazy, no one forced you to drive for uber you did it willingly, dont like it get another job, simple as that
SlammedHemi "Get a real job like the rest of us." Ad hominem. You got anything better to write? Anything else you want to assume about me before I completely make you look like a damn fool?
im with the c.e.o on this one, the driver is not forced to work for uber and sooner rather than later he will be replaced by selfdriving cars. he should start looking for another job now
Montes88r well they're under investigation for corporate spionage for stealing the self driving tech from alphabet so maybe those driverless cars are going to take a while longer or not exist at all

Having a good personality is also fortune.
I don't know about anyone else but I wouldn't buy a 90,000 vehicle to drive to for uber.
leadnsteel why he didn’t buy a car that was 20 grand instead
Because he calculated that if he was in uber black he would make 2000 a week. So he went and bought that car. Days later uber drops prices now he must work harder to make that amount and afford his car
Youssef Elhenawy stupid to buy car for 90k for uber tbh
Nothing more then 20k is BEST
The driver is a moron that's why. He could have gotten a nice car for 20k. Now he pins the consequences of his stupid decision on Uber. How about don't be a moron and purchase an expensive car when you're only job is being a driver. The CEO is right, some people just can't blame themselves for their stupid actions.

Scotch the drivers are bitching and going to their union. Wtf are you talking about?
He stood up to his boss and a multibillionaire and didn't ever back down. My hero
The fact he pissed him off is what is best. He pierced him.
humanparadox His ass is now broke and fired.
humanparadox He stood up with wrong information. Uber Black is essentially unchanged from when it was introduced. The driver's bright vision is to overcharge the customer and only serve the highest end of the market that can afford inflated rates. That's what taxi and limos services have done for decades. The driver's assertions were all wrong and his boss called him on it.
humanparadox He's a moron

Gold digger = Hooker that finished school
i hope they got a lot of money out of him. money is the only reason anyone would want to spend time with this person.
Lol
they are def hoping for gifts I bet
All the same
To summarize what Uber did:
Lowered fares by 35%
Increased their cut by 5%
Made the vehicle Lexus an UberX (Anyone who has these cars will lose a ton of fare cause UberX has the lowest fare)
It was previously an UberBlack (Most expensive fare)
To put that in prespective; you buy a $92000 car on loan expecting to make $5000 a month and suddenly due to uninformed and major changes you're making $2000 a month and have this big ass loan that you can't pay.
Exactly. The guy was disrespectful and overreacting. Kalanick was right. He doesn't want to take responsibility

Most reasonable comment so far. They dont get paid that much because there are hundreds of people willing to become a driver in their place. The job is not high skilled or in high demand. If everyone and their dog stopped becoming uber drivers, maybe he would have to pay more for their services. Just how the market works.
The driver didn't back away, and confronted Kalanick. Good for him.
He's a fucking hero, that's what he is. Took balls to stand up to the CEO like that. Most drivers would probably be too intimidated to say that.
There's like a bunch of other apps he could drive for so it's not exactly like telling your boss to go F himself, but good for him for recording this and posting it
The driver lost me when he basically said "C'mon bro you have dominant market share nickel and dime everyone who takes this service"
Massive props to the driver. Huge respect.
The driver has ever right to voice his opinion, Especially if he has been with the company since almost day 1 (which i thought i heard him say) I hope everything works out for that driver.
harlemhornet I don't call blaming someone else for my problems respectful

U should have asked him about tip option for drivers
The ceo of uber seems like a nice guy, he is willing to just talk with an employee about genuine concerns he has as an uber driver, but it was when the driver started to get a little hostile that he got frustrated
Christopher Sanchez what hostile? any disagreement and opposition is hostility? like trump to all the negative voices?
Christopher Sanchez he was getting his point across, I didn't see any hostile intent
GG2K7AU05 So why exactly did you have to bring politics into this?
Christopher Sanchez Uber drivers r not employee they r uber partners and self employed
Ozzpley Osbourne it was just an analogy
The era of no working rights is upon us and anyone who uses Uber should be ashamed of themselves.
alexandergst1
I like what you said, but not the way you said it (like an SJW).
So basically they trap you.
bromike this is why people have to research what they do before they do it, if you believe everything you hear you deserve what comes to you, if something is too good to be true, it usually is, nobody is forcing shit, this is still a free country even if no one believes it, if I tell you that I'll give you a million dollars, but first you have to give me $10,000, would you do it?
its still doesnt change the fact that its a scam
Uber CEO is correct. Competitors will come and drive them out of business and Uber is history. He could have been said, here's my card, give me a call, and we'll talk, shake his hand, move on.
Wrong. Look at Costco. Look at Trader Joes. You can run a viable business while still treating your employees with respect and compensating them well.
who is the competitor Cab drivers lol
True as well. Good point. Uber I heard had really sexist male engineers, a bad place to work for females.
This would be a great time for someone (from corporate) to chime in with inside information lol.
and no one should have to do 3 different jobs at the same time to try and get by.
Chris M buddy what are you talking about? They offer you financing to go get a car and drive for them full time please get your stuff straight before you start an argument. Their whole promotion is quit your job you can make more money with uber.
Give him some credit for discussing his business model with a driver (employee ?) ... Not many CEOs would do that.
I know right??? Warren Buffet comes out there and literally says nothing relevant twice a year and anyone that's associated with finance losses their shit... This guy covertly tells the driver "with that naive attitude prepare to keep get fucked" and he doesn't choose to listen...
who really knows? maybe he had a few drinks, he was getting a little emotional there at the end
he ia not an employee, they're business partners
As an Uber driver, all I can say is: "What the heck were you thinking going into $97,000 debt to drive a depreciating asset?"
Not to brag or anything but I bought a nice Toyota Sienna minivan that was 10 years old that had 200,000 miles for $5,000 cash to drive for Uber. Been driving part time for 2 years and it is still running strong.
That is how you can actually make money in this business.
Lesson to learn.
NEVER lease or buy a new car to drive for a rideshare company.
Wait...you paid $5000 for that car? I have a 13 year old Sienna with 150,000 miles and can't even get $2000 from anyone.
I know that is some bs he got screwed bad time. Lol that’s to bad
You've been driving UBER for two years and yet know nothing about Uber black. That's abit awkward.
Kalaninck doesn't need to apologize and take leadership classes.
He needs to resign.
He should resign. His company is plagued with scandal and under performing.
SxKushxS That's true, but a boss speaking to an employee using foul language is completely unprofessional. In or outside of the work place, it's uncalled for.
northwoods1986 why didn't the driver quit and do something else?
I don't want to defend Travis, because he's wrong about some things, but this driver handled this all wrong. He raised his voice, started throwing accusations around, and took the conversation to a place it didn't need to go.
You're not going to change anyone's mind by screaming at them.
bmxxxxxxxx he ruined a 3some
bmxxxxxxxx yes he lost lot money and making minimum wage, fuck yea he gets angry, boy
good person He lost money because of his actions, and wants to blame others.
Welcome to the real world. No one owes you anything. No one.
Eagle Warrior what are you talking about????? He is telling the CEO what he is doing to the drivers. People like you have no empathy.
Ever Greatest --- He was accusatory; the driver has every right to switch to Lyft or drive a cab, bus, or limo. There are other options.
Craigs List
You make $1200 a week before or after taxes. Do you declare your income. Did you include your cost to own run and maintain the vehicle.
Are those Travis's paid escorts?
Just quit
Good point. Probably bimbos.
I think so.
Ith that logic. Then America and Europe should pay back to the Africans.
Hardcore Crypto Except the blacks that were owed anything are dead now you race baiting moron.
Kalanick's awkward shoulder rolls made me cringe more than his comments
Justin Epstein it's very 1950s
Justin Epstein I know man. it was the corniest shit ever. fuck uber
Justin Epstein he doesnt care about the little guy thats evident
Well, he's a human being. Regular people do cringey stuff too, why can't he?
Where's the seatbelt? Why no seatbelt? Can we discuss how the CEO of a driving company doesn't value his own safety or the liability he's creating for drivers through his negligence to safety and basic laws.
rubicon shut up lol out of everything u want to discuss that ? He's in the back nobody cares
rubicon Shut your ass up
rubicon seatbelt are for pussys who are scared of death
rubicon it's legal for anyone over the age of 18 to ride in the back seat of a car without a seatbelt where I live
Liftoff Productions Here in NY it's 16
Russell Crowe will play him in the movie
It would be better if he stopped trying to please riders so much and actually tried to please the drivers. Uber be trying to rip drivers off too much.
How about the next time you ride an Uber, you hand the driver an extra 20 bucks. Don't demand every customer to subsidize your altruism.
Christopher Hitchens Amen. They always want "others" to pay them more instead of tipping more or donating their own paychecks...
Mateo M the whole purpose of Uber is to provide a service to riders.. soo what the fuck are you talking about? If these drivers want to make a bigger income they should go to college and get an education and apply for a job offering a higher salary like everyone else
Mateo M When drivers are about to be replaced, id say he looks like a saint sitting next to a guy who thinks Uber is an excuse to take a loan out.
s Even part time drivers need an incentive to drive.
Why don't rich people wear seat belts?
flynomo that was my first thought
what are you talking about? he's got four airbags protecting him IFYOUNOWARIMEAN
Have you heard of rich snob... because he is rich snob
Probably because they have the best health insurance money can buy
flynomo if they dont, they die, why do u care?
Hey look it's the exact reason I stop driving for Uber
yeah, dumb entitled drivers.
Lmao if you think the Uber driver gets paid on a normal fair rate then you're even dumber than their CEO
Because it doesnt pay much? What a no brainer, it's unskilled labour...
It's not even about the labor it's about the fact that you don't get paid enough to even maintain your car
Middle Class Worker: You dropped the rates (our wages) significantly
Billionaire CEO: Some people like to blame everything in their lives on other people.
You don't read much, do you? smh
deleting Uber right now.
your all talk, you still have it.
Downloading Uber right now #balance
hunter wilbanks lol there is something called lyft it's cheaper anyways.
uknown124124 huh
hunter wilbanks That's just letting the market decide. If enough people don't want to fuck with Uber anymore, tough cookies. Free market at work.
Now they understand why the Taxi drivers were so upset.
They will fight till they death with Uber.
gusugsugus so true were I'm from Ireland it's going down the toilet
taxi driving jobs will die out in the next 5-10years due to self-driving cars
Nambuz how can they when they haven't even realised 5g standard.
I wouldn't say he got
into an argument; more like he got defensive after the driver kept pushing him.
SimplyCanadian fucking ignorant you dont even know the kinds of sacrifices some drives have done for this company like buying cars that we dont need personally but we do need them to work and this fucking thieft ends up fucking us over
no one forced you to do shit, stop compaining.
elvis santana it's their choice to work for an app son with no unions benefits or anything.
Saratoga OBRental
Saratoga OBRental Oh, the irony! The company you work for is contributing to gentrification, and the expedition of the next fast-approaching house market crash. Don't throw stones, and all that...
we can all tip in cash if we so want to. I think the whole point of uber is not dealing with tips/money, just going from a to b.
kevin quintana Shut the fuck up Kevin
respect to the driver for speaking up for many
however, the CEO was not disrespectful at all, they were just having a conversation independent of who you agree with
@@juanmamenendez he was very disrespectful, what planet are you living on?
@@cuddy9215 not at the start.. the driver just slam everything on him thats where he gets angry.
Great Business meeting!!! 5 Stars!!!
This comment is underrated 👍
Put subtitles maybe?
I'm deleting uber from my phone 📱 right now
Jay C ok
congratulations, no one fucking cares
David Cavill not really
AlpineWhitedub sike b a n I love the low rates uber has
Jay C chump
Lol we still using Uber
Glad that he did
No we aint
Which means he took responsibility for what his company needed to do to succeed. So I don't really see the point of your comment.
What's wrong with that?
telling someone who is worth 6.2 billion, "i know you're not gonna go far!" 😂😂
James Bond :)))) good point
The billionaire got fired
.
still a billionaire !
He’s not technically a billionaire yet. It’s all on paper, they haven’t gone public yet.
CEO treating staff like shit, typical these days :(
xRyanRampage he is not staff you fucking dumbass.😂
xRyanRampage Why do you say "these days" Work was horrible during the late 1800's in steel mills.
Rudy Ogunde exactly, they created an opportunity for nobodies without any education to get some cash and of course some dumbasses tried making it into a business. guess what, you ain't a business if you're an uber driver just like you ain't a business if you have a Facebook business page.
People not wanting to put an effort into anything and blame all their problems on others. (Driver situation) typical people these days.
I feel it coming...
Some Guy, Question is...are you going to swallow?
Bust it inside. #PullOutGameWeak
Justin M yup.
foreshadowing 101
I'm never getting an uber, I'll just let their company fail!
mymovievideos it already is. why do you think they are lowering prices
A smelly Taco market share.
so that they can dominate the minicab industry
How many CEO's discuss major business changes with their small employees?
In SV? All of them should.
Why wouldn't they?
lol bootlicker
good guy for having the balls to confront him
That's a bad, bad look for Kalanick. Glad I deleted Uber months ago.
Ned Ryerson? Needle nose ned? Ned the head? You got the shingles real bad senior year, right?
Bob Sacamano huh
You've never seen groundhog day? Apparently, you've never seen seinfeld either.
Lol
Ned Ryerson Bing.....Bing again!
Tipping is not allowed.
isidroibarra2010 I still hand them cash for tips
"....to put the taxis out of business...."
who cares taxis are a huge ripoff anyways
isidroibarra2010 That's why Cash is King
Taxi drivers don't need tips.
Tre Warren Thats why taxis have limits on the amount of cars allowed on the road. Same should be done with any type of taxi transport. So then everyone wins
so I'm guessing "undercover boss"
decided to pass on his audition
Love how some of the comments are saying that he got owned. Kalanick is guilty of one thing in this video: arrogance. I'm having a very hard time seeing how Kalanick is responsible for the driver's debt and bankruptcy. The only thing that's changed here is the demand for UberBlack, and that you can chalk up to basic supply/demand and increased competition as opposed to Kalanick's actions.
jshongify Kalanick requested all black fleet owners to update their cars after they had invested thousands. imagine how you would feel after you had bought several 2010-12 model Suburban to be told you need to buy 2014-15 models after just a year.
he also eliminated tips *lying to the customer saying tips are included then after a lawsuit changed it to tips are not necessary (*too late customers already are used to not tipping) Uber drivers.
also will deactivate your account if you speak up.or over any unsubstantiated allegation or will take for Uber days or weeks to reactivate you because they don't have enough customers service reps...
they treat drivers like shut at their office no respect.
funk uber
You're not supposed to be buying a new car to drive for uber. That was the drivers own poor business investment.
jshongify Spot on.
The money is not there.
depends where you live. If you live in a big city you can work 10 hours straight and make 300/day.
In a small city i made about 80 a day. It was a just a side job for me though.
You can make $100k a year in NY
@@fightstar62 I made $2,700 this week. I hustle and don't make excuses. I always average over $2k/week. I work 14 hours/day everyday
It’s true. Uber isn’t for full time driving …. You will struggle. Either to save up some cash or do it on the side to supplement a regular income.
I agree with the driver. We make a lot less now than we did a few years ago. And to those of you sticking up for the CEO, saying get a different job. I did, and I'm better off for it. Too much headache, for too little appreciation and little to no tips.
Zex Offender, if you don't like tipping they will just include the 20% in your check and then your dumbass doesn't have to attempt to do any math.
Take that back, took all my tax refund money.
GoodFilms28
what % did you pay in taxes? I'm thinking 15%? also what about maintenence to your vehicle, insurance, wear and tear, depreciating value of your vehicle? what % did you make in the end? I'm just curious. thx
GoodFilms28 how can something that isn't good enough to do full time be good enough for a side hustle?
Well, emotions always dominate logic when arguing. That's undeniable
tear728 an unfortunate problem with Uber is the inherent lack of disclosure on their end that result in Uber drivers being paid less than minimum wage by not automatically deducting taxes or accounting for the replacement and maintenance fees/insurances for the vehicle. With vehicle replacements being about every 4-6 years. when Uber drivers sign up they don't know they aren't being automatically deducted for the tax or the about the other costs of doing uber
tear728 boy, aren't you the brainwashed capitalist
Pookz petty bourgeois / class traitor*
This comment is exactly what I was looking for. The guy might be a dick but unfortunately this is how businesses have to be run in order to be profitable. The driver should stop complaining and work somewhere else.
The sooner this fucking trash company goes out of business, the better.
Raden no we need competition otherwise lyft will do the same because they have the choice to.
Raden why are they trash in your eyes
LOL well dream on because their equity is ridiculous
Raden looks like someone didn't rate their Uber 5 stars
I do it part time and I've really stopped because they take 25%
Thanks. Uber has been deleted.
I highly doubt you deleted it.
Yeah they suck. They Take advantage of hard working people. If you had no rent no bill just lived out of you car it would be ok. If a driver had to drive within dot regulation they would not make much at all. Insurance, fuel, maintenance, cleaning, tires. It all ads up.
Childhood Obesity & Soda I can't even delete the app, Android ZTE won't allow it.
1n4r0m5d1.m31 just disable it in settings.
Things I learned driving for Uber:
Uber doesn't tell anyone how to plan for taxes once they start earning money.
wait, so if I drive for Uber, my regular insurance is voided? Even if I get into an accident when I'm not driving Uber?
Uber is meant to be a thing on the side, if you're not happy with it, get a fucking real job. Anyone can sign up to be an uber driver, its not like you have to pass an interview, hand over your CV and get an interview or you studied for years at school to become an uber driver. As long as your car qualifies and you have a license, boom you can be an uber driver. Don't like it, get a real job.
Gary Hughes I agree. I'm a software tester during the day and uber is for a quick $20 in 2 hours. Hahaha. Atlanta is horrible with payouts. So much competition.
Gary Hughes maybe this guy was a taxi driver before he was an uber driver?
Maybe his "real job" was pushed out of business by this new job?
killahchriz152 lmao im white and i worked for everything i got. and i agree. what other lame excuses do you have?
Gary Hughes youtubers make millions and yet don't have college degrees and consider UA-cam their job. What not tough guy. idiot*
Gary Hughes
True...no one should see this as main job...if anything, they should see it as a part time job.
I never worked for Uber but if you have a part time job and you can't get another part time job because they need you available at all times..then Uber is perfect.
Why would a guy who is worth 6.2 billion dollars get an Uber?
What………
*Brain Explodes*
PainBlame because it's free for him
Why wouldn't you get a Uber?
PainBlame Maybe because he is jewish ^^
Ok sorry for that stupid comment ^^
Travis took the bait, and failed to keep his cool. A brilliant mind, but his ego and temper ultimately cost him dearly.
Nobody is perfect... sorry baby..he opened the way... another will make better app.... Facebook not was the first social network... The first social network is forgiven... This is the world
not really he’s a billionaire
Uber CEO just got fucking owned.
Ned Ryerson I'm sure he will cry himself to sleep in his billions of dollars. You idiots made him rich by using his bootleg taxi app
No. Not at all.
Ned Ryerson -- Owned how so? All the CEO has to do is fire the driver.
Tim Kasey
nobody is forcing these people to work there.
Tim Kasey i thought uber was losing money? and was using its venture capital to get market share?
"Hur durr the gompany hazz 60 bullion wow so much money gib them to the poor workers durrr"
This comment shows why leftists are a joke with economy.
Uber isn't fair with its drivers, but tbh for consumers, uber is better than a taxi. It's cheaper, faster, has easier through the app.
Brendan Waugh
not correct.
Travis dance moves are pretty cringy
cazoulable lmao! I know!
The girls aren't there for his moves.
it's more like : he's desperately trying to grind to both females on his both sides- especially with that dreadful man spreading
the same time he says "some people don't like to take responsibility for their actions" is the same time he starts getting out of the car.....like he was talking about himself or something. hahaha
Ange Guti Nice observing !
Boom headshot !
Ange Guti I swear.
Ange Guti people do tend to project their insecurties on other people like one looks in the mirror. people do tend to say things at an emotional time to show their true colors he doesnt seem to of handled that too well as an leader.
I just pointed out that he started walking away at the same time he said that. I'm not saying is true or not.
Wesley B Not CEO responsability ?
Seriously ?
He changed the rules making a lot of loss for the driver and you said he have no responsability...
What a joke !
If your boss change your salary and put you in difficulty to pay your bill, will you say that your boss is not responsable of your new situation ?
Lol at the people siding with a sociopathic CEO over a low-paid worker.
mike james CEO needs to listen to his workers or CEO will watch his company fall. Maybe not this one, but if he can't take criticism of his company, whether it's bad or good, then he's gonna drop that ball.
Epic comment. You made my day!
Never saw so many commies in one comment. This generation is doomed.
Make no mistake, Uber cares NOTHING for its drivers. If the laws allowed it and the technology was all there (might well be by the time this comment is a month old), Uber would replace ALL of its drivers with self-driving cars. It's where its headed.
CEO looks like a wiggly worm and the driver owns him.
Driver owns him, except for the fact the driver is under his thumb and he's a billionaire - minor details.
diapersFTMFW11 JewBoy Kalanick makes more cash sitting on the toilet taking a shit than this rude MUSLIM driver makes sitting in his cab ALL YEAR.
Travis was really upset about this argument until 3 minutes later when the two blonde shixas started simultaneously blowing him.
catothewiser are you serious? do you have any reason to spread this hate?
COO415 Uber software engineers are close to perfecting self driving cars that will put smelly drivers out of business forever!!!!
Enjoy!.
First three min... 3:50 seconds of this video are too uneccesary. Holy shit, skip if you want to save time
I drove Uber in ATL for a little while out of necessity.
@@super266 I would disagree with that, it's messed up if the Universe took out it's anger on his mother rather than him directly
Former ATL driver here....we put up w A LOT there
Uber is equivalent to a payday loan scam.
Well said
Actually, Ryanair, WizzAir and Easyjet to name a few fly for $50, in some cases two-ways throughout Europe. There hasn't been one crash so far.
In India, Uber drivers make more than software developers
Flying is exactly like that. Also if your options are drive for Uber or don’t have a job, do you really want Uber to make business decisions that will put them out of business?
@@simono5142 but average seat prices tend to be higher.
What do you call a blind German??
A not-see😂
TheChronic2017 I can only wish
That joke is highly offensive and I am reporting you to the Alphabet Corp Gestapo Unit
This is why I uninstalled Uber a long time ago. CEO who lies, and the app is shit. Switched to Lyft a long time ago and never looked back.
Adil you are right, I don't think the uber CEO is a decent man...
Adil lyft is better
Andrea Mitchell how does that make a diffrence?
Adil and the bullshit he supports like the muslim ban. Its just crap.
aliyah_is_boring because there is not a decent one in the bunch
The driver is correct
Caden Jacobs correct in what? he didn't make a single point
Dzastynas I'm just saying that the CEO is acting like a fucking asshole
Caden Jacobs No your saying his correct……
(I don't understand this anyway nor do I want to)
Caden Jacobs this is a classic case of CEO vs the worker /that's why rich people are hated
And he said he only lowered the rates on Uber X. Uber X rates were low before he lowered it.
I’m here after just watching Super Pumped: The Battle For Uber
However, even the [unlimited] amount of drivers is almost over after 5 years as nobody wants to drive Uber anymore and in fact Ubers incentive fees for new drivers are actually tripled in the last year, i.e. it woulda actually cost them much cheaper if they paid better rates and less drivers would leave as well as compete and wish to drive for Uber
sounds like you know how to run a company...
Fuck Uber!
Better yet:
Delete Uber.
Use Lyft or another service that actually has a soul.
Yowzoe lyft is moving towards driverless cars too, and lowering the rates as every driver has seen.
"I know you don't gonna go far" DEEP.
And the CEO got fired after this and He paid him $200k as an indemnity after this video published
@@KGAgroup ولله جاب راسه وسعر السهم طاح شويتين
This driver was magnificent. Not only does he have a solid argument he also has the guts to speak up. The Uber POS CEO is going to have to eat a lot of shit now because of his ego. He will be dogged by this and will have to apologize to this driver. Love IT!
Praise I AM,
Michael Idarecis
Praise I AM,
Michael Idarecis
You realize your name is on display everytime you make a comment, right? You don't need to sign the bottom of every comment like a letter lol we all know you're michael idarecis.
It isn't just my name the more important aspect is
"Praise I AM"
However am always aware of the humor that
If you care about money and sacrifice morals then the money is worthless...
Praise I AM,

Dude is so underpaid he has to record with a baked potato smh. I'm sure if he showed the CEO this camera quality he would've gotten an instant raise.
It's hard to record in low light
funny
Lol
If it sucks so bad, why doesn't he get a better job?? seems like common sense to me.
Samuel Johnson Because life doesn't work that way. Employment isn't always easy to come by.
the rich wanna get richer. it's that simple.
stuppard serge yeah getting richer by dropping prices. Nice logic.
If uber is your main source of income then go back to school, get educated and get a real job.
Max Lwaypro because you know going back to school for 2/5 years is so simple then trying to make a little extra cash on the side.
Jill Stults yeah, because the definition of "hardwork" is sitting on your ass driving a few people around...
SlammedHemi
nah hard work is passing off all business expenses off to the peons (drivers) with gas, maintenance, taxes, wear and tear, drivers make below minimum wage. I guess asking to be treated fairly from a monopolizing company that used shady business practices of false advertising and bait and switch is too much.
JL heres an idea, get a real job like the rest of us... thinking you were going to make a killing driving a fucken car around is just being lazy, no one forced you to drive for uber you did it willingly, dont like it get another job, simple as that
SlammedHemi
"Get a real job like the rest of us." Ad hominem. You got anything better to write? Anything else you want to assume about me before I completely make you look like a damn fool?
JL Make me look like a fool when youre the one that actually drove for uber? Lmao!
im with the c.e.o on this one, the driver is not forced to work for uber and sooner rather than later he will be replaced by selfdriving cars. he should start looking for another job now
Montes88r call a Johnny cab!
No he was forced he financed a car then paid shit
There are many Americans depending on this income and will be displaced...it's sad. But you seem to care less ...
Montes88r well they're under investigation for corporate spionage for stealing the self driving tech from alphabet so maybe those driverless cars are going to take a while longer or not exist at all
Self-driving cars won't be here soon enough moron.
"Good luck to you too..But I know you're not going to go far..."
I don't understand why this was bad. Travis did nothing wrong. The dude needs to make better life decisions.
