Tanglewood Jazz Festival 2010: Julian Lage Interview

This is Julian Lage's third Tanglewood Jazz Festival. Some think he is up-and-coming, we think he has already arrived. Here he speaks about his group and the various music influences its members bring to it, how he would recommend those younger then him to embrace all types of music, and lastly about his upcoming album.

I was really closed minded when I was studying jazz in college. Everything I listened to had to be Jazz. Abandoned classical, rock, and blues music. Now I will listen to everything, and try to shut up naive judgments (getting better). You can learn from every type of music. I found myself enjoying Justin Timberlake the other day, who cares? Lage is right, too much music to close yourself off to.
