It looks SO very good! Patina is one thing....dirt is another. Tracy is right, it looks like it was meant to look when it was built. I watch some fine art restoration UA-camrs....and they are always saying how a painting should look how the artist intended it to look. Wonderful job, everyone. It's absolutely beautiful.
Historically the aristocracy would never show the bricks!! The whole chateau was plastered in some colour, only the stone work was visible around the corners and the windows/doors.
I hope Tracey is taking a bit of time for herself and developing some local friends. It’s very important in a new country to make new friends. She’s such a treasure.
You must be so pleased at the outcome of the cleaned walls, the château has come alive well done Terry, Tracy and Ash *The tremendous Trio* as I always say stay safe 👍 😊
I have to say it again that’s a fine looking turret. The building is nicely proportioned without it but the turret really makes it. Brilliant job cleaning the stone work.
Just think in the chateaus beginning there were dozens of people working to maintain it and give it all the attention it needed. Now there have been a few volunteers and yourselves and I bet you have already done 10 times the work since you purchased it, until now. The gratification you must feel when jobs are completed, must spur you on to keep on track to fruition. "Crack on!" I wanted to say to Tracy, You are an amazing loving and supportive Mom and I can only imagine how proud you are of Terry. It's such a blessing that you are also physically able to work side by side with Terry and Ash to fulfil their dream of this amazing chateau. You are beautiful inside and out!
I know people talk about the power of water; it's something you just say, but watching the close-up of the jet-powered water spray as it eradicates those tough algae/mold entrenched spots was honestly startling. What a great job you've done. It's made a world of difference. I think everyone in your community has favorite bits they're eager to see you all tackle, and I'll add mine to the list: the bell high on the chateau back(maybe the original front) and the iron framework for the canopies. My delight that you've already plans for that canopy made me smile. Still, I imagine you all get a chuckle for all the suggestions you receive.
That side of the chateau really does look fantastic! Thanks to all of you, that chateau is going to live a much longer life! You really are living the dream and bringing all of us along on a wonderful ride with you! Thank you!
Are you’re sure you guys aren’t teachers? “Tell ‘em what you’re going to show ‘em; show ‘em and then tell ‘em what you’ve shown ‘em!” 😂 The old lady is slowly revealing her true beauty! You all work so hard!
Not glamorous work but you have definitely restored the chateau's beauty. It really is looking wonderful and when the garden planting has matured it will be heaven. Can't wait! 😊
You guys must feel such a sense of pride now looking at the old gal with her gleaming, sparkly exterior, what a magnificent difference it has made...WELL DONE, she's a beauty...!!!
You are Beautiful people, working on yours life work, and taking us along ❣️👏👏You have no idea what love you are giving out❤️❣️🤩Thank you, thank you🙏🙏love you❣️
I just want to say how blessed you are to have such a hard working “Mom”❣️ I admire her so much. You all are so dedicated to this beautiful, regal and magnificent piece of history. Thank you for caring and sharing the experience with us. ❤️ Am always looking forward to your next video. 😍
@@ashleywaters7198 , you’re welcome. Everyone works as a team; that’s so refreshing to see, especially for those of us who haven’t grown up with that experience.
Purchased my first little 2 bedroom home in the mountains in the US and had it professionally cleaned as I am getting close to 70. The cleaning was worth every shiny penny because my own little castle is shining!! I am sure you feel the same. GREAT JOB!
Again, “hats off too you!” Great transformation. Not as tedious as many jobs; and progress seen right away! You must feel exuberant joy! In the end.. no stone untouched! God Bless you, in this deeply moving labor of love! Absolutely worthy, as the caretaker of this, unraveled, gem! For having no real experience; you have knocked it out of the ball park! And have humbles us all, to see such quick transformation. So excited to get back to the garden! An amazing space! Thank you for sharing. As a joyous transformation.. heart felt! And pure. Enjoy Summer. Just around the corner. So yes, you shall head inside as will get very hot! Lol.. 👋
The wall on the outside of the steps has come up so well. It looks cared for. And the steps themselves. No longer green tinted. The whole lot is fantastic. Well done.
I guess like everyone else I have been anticipating the cleaning of the facade. I did understand your initial desire for the soft wash but I am so glad that you went the more robust route. The repointing just pulls it all together. So beautiful and so worth all the work. I look forward to the continued clean as you move around the building. I cannot wait to see the canopy cleaned up and I guess glass installed. So amazing.
Its an amazing journey that you all have taken with your dream. I believe that you picked the right abandoned chateau. She he to be loving your love that you bestow upon her daily. Thanks for letting us tag along and be WOWED by your hard work to make your dream come alive. Smile on.
I love to watch how the grime of decades just peels away, revealing the beauty beneath it. Such a rewarding effort! I’m in awe at the energy and determination that Tracy and Terry ( and everyone) display as they “ crack on” ! Bravo, the Chateau is looking beautiful.
Yo admiro a esa linnnda madre ..Pujante Guerrera y muy laboriosa ..Me recuerda ala gente de mi región Paisa labradores y querendones de su tierra.. Un viva por ustedes linda familia ❣️ Dios los proteja
Hi everyone, It must be so satisfying watching Chateau de lalacell ,being transformed back to its beauty! It’s amazing how good the building looks, after all the years it’s been standing ! Wait until the wrought iron roof, over the steps is painted ,it’s going to look stunning 🤩 Take care lots of love 🥰💕
You all sure took on such a massive project! I don’t know how you do it and still seem to be so patient and have smiles on your faces.I am amazed at the transformation of everything so far!
“Once you see it, you can’t unsee it”. First, let me say what a wonderful family and the transformation of the Chateau is amazing. I love Escape to the Dream…” The handrails have an interesting design, I just can’t stop unseeing it.
Two more things... just LOOK at those healthy, happy and very tanned faces 😊😊😊 and that little white dormer window at the top, renewed ... shining in the sun. (makes me smile too)
I’m so happy you are bringing it back to how it was built to look like, and not leaving some of the marks and grime. It’s a lot of work but It looks beautiful. xx
Step by step your hard work is paying off every day The stone work is coming along looking great and your filling in the repointing next fixing the rusty metal . Your a talented family xx
Your hard work is paying off. The château looks great. Be very careful with the hydrochloric acid. Keep wearing protection. Rince for 15 minutes if you get splashed. Keep the acid from aluminium.
Watching you transform the staircase was so satisfying that I had to rewind and watch it again! I agree with Tracey that it makes it look like it was intended to look. A lot of elbow grease and a great outcome.
I don't know about anyone else, but I think there should be an international pressure-washing club. I find it so therapeutic and rewarding and what a difference it made on the Chateau. Keep up the good work!
Absolutely stunning! There are definite advantages to doing the work yourself because you can see the smaller details that need addressed. I can’t wait until the canopies are restored.
Its looks wonderful. I didn't realized the turret has redish bricks, incredibly beautiful! Returning the chateau too it's former glory, I'm quite moved how it shines; standing proud once again. ❤❤❤
Wow what a difference that side entrance looks great . It will look fantastic with the repointing is done . Looking forward to seeing the new lights you are going to replace the old ones with . Have a great week
I’d invest in a grout bag, looks just like a pastry bag. Goes much quicker and less mess. When you do the awning, I’m excited to see what you decide to cover the canopy with. Everything is just moving along so nicely. Wow, she’s looking Grande!! She needed a good scrub! When you point the granite, I hope you use the original recipe, lime and sand. Concrete is no good. The water will just sit in it. You can add a colorant to it. Less water damage and standing water. You’ve truly done a wonderful job! If your mix works, that’s great. Tracey, your a women with many talents. Cheers ♥️🇫🇷🏰
I realize that in an era without Freudian analysts the design of your handrails was very popular but they still make me snicker. Sometimes, you just have to push that re-set button to do a proper job. Your decision was the correct one and the results speak for themselves. Lovely.
Stunning she is coming alive great work you guy's can not wait to see the finishing touche's the canopies and shutter's back beautiful chateau and you guy's wow what more can one say wow take care and see you all next time 💕🌼🤗
I've watched some masons use a funnel like the bakers use to decorate cakes, to fill in the gaps. They just squeeze in the stuff between the rock gaps and then smooth it out...its a great idea and it looks a lot easier to fill in the gaps. You should look into making one durable enough, to fill in gaps in the stone walls and under the stairs. You have lots of stone to fill gap in and it would go a lot faster for you.
I thought the chateau was red brick & granite. Or even painted to look like red brick. Low & behold it’s neutral grey tones. Much more pleasing. Great job.
Just a little job... NOT! Wow! I hope you rest up good each night after so much hard work. You are probably discovering muscles you didn't know you had. Been there. Ash, I think you forgot to wear your safety harness while repointing the cement. Take care and stay healthy, on this demanding job. Wonderful out come for all this sweat equity your family is putting into that chateau.
Best decision yet! Her real beauty is standing out. I can almost see her smiling.
