@@mariahyohannes Plenty of others. It's just a matter of choosing the right time periods and music types. Patti Labelle is an example. Many male singers as well - probably more.
Honestly that’s how music is supposed to be now it’s like if you don’t scream holler or have 1 million riffs and runs you’re not considered a good singer that’s what the new age singers are now I am probably like the male version of Anita Baker don’t give me wrong I don’t sound like her exactly but I have a smooth voice and most people want that rich gospel sound because I love gospel music very very very much but this is just some good flat old singing
This song this beautiful woman.. Man I'm outta words to describe my love and adoration for Miss Anita Baker.. She really doesn't get the genuine recognition she SO deserves!
Bryun Gray ...... I agree with you Bryun, Anita doesn't get the full credit and recognition she deserves. She's such a class act. Love, love her music always & FOREVER. ❤❤
If only her and Luther Vandross would've hooked up on this song.........her singing her apologies and him singing his forgiveness.............THAT WOULDVE BEEN AMAZING!!!!!!
+Antwon Warren Years ago, I remember reading an interview with Luther when he and Anita were on tour together. He said he did suggest a collaboration but for some reason (I can't remember the reason he gave) it never happened. It does make you wonder what could have been? Just the thought of those two voices together is amazing.
+MagnusMG1 I too remember that tour in the 80s, it was something about neither one wanted to be opening act, and from that they couldn't stand each other!
Zona Edwards lol Yes, I knew there was some disagreement but couldn't remember what exactly.. It seems like Luther might not have been easy to work with. Similar friction occurred when he and En' Vogue toured together. Things got so bad that En' Vogue pulled out. But whatever the man's personality there's no denying he made great music. Since his passing no other male R&B singer has stepped up to the mark.
Not sure what the deal with Anita Baker was, but I heard that Luther kicked En' Vogue of his tour as they were using vocal samples and weren't singing everything live.
This cut is soooo smooth. And excuse me but this particular rendition was better than even the original track. Anita Baker is truly a-one-of-a-kind talent.. Love it. Rythmically powerful and lyrically moving....
This a new track to me. I know she has an endless catalogue of music and I'm still learning about all of it. This is just so so so silky and smooth. She sings this song like her voice is made of velvet
You are indeed right. This stylist as well as Halle's and Toni Braxton's when she first came out. They had the cutest short cuts. Done with such precision. Ooh, you know who else's hair stayed top-notch? Pam from Total. Whoever did her 'do was no joke.
With her sultry and uniquely gorguessly seductive voice accentuating her soul delite in delivery of each vocal delivery is beyond compare, masterfull and exquisite to the ear, heart, soul and romance of all ages. I salute you and appreciate the value you through your song have given me over the years.
All of that TALENT oozing from her and at the end she looks like "damn did i end it right?"Anita u can do no wrong. So humble and cute at the end,I LOVE IT :)
She reminds me of a big sister who would look out for her brother & always be there for him!! She just seems to have that kind of persona about herself... I love her!
Go 'head, Auntie. Yo' voice is just warm, pure and smooth. This is always gon be my jam. I used to wear this single out. Great performance. 1994, a tricky slash transitional year for r&b. Hip hop really started to infiltrate r&b and-ahh.....well, you know the rest.....

Remember the first time I saw her performing - on Johnny Carson's The Tonight Show (bc boy, didn't he love smooth jazz!). And my husband pushed the coffee table aside so we could dance. Gotta love this girl forever. That was more than 30 years ago!
The reason why I’m 27 (1990 May baby)and listening to ms ANITA BAKER is because my mom listen to her all the time when I was in her stomach 😀🤰🏽🤰🏾🤰🏿🙌🏿🤱🏽🤱🏾🤱🏿
I love this woman, she inspires me a lot . she has one of the greatest voices of all time. timeless music like this is a gift from God and I thank God for such rare talent . 😢😢
As we give much Love & Appreciation to our Queen, Ms. Anita Baker, can we also give some love to the brother who was killing those Keys on the Piano on stage with her? #YouBettaPlaySir
I had to listen to this song today, don't know why but I went with my whimsy anyway. Then I saw she was on Video Soul and I remembered how much I missed that show. I was so mad when Donnie Simpson, after years of hosting the show by himself had a co-star Sherry Carter, but I got over it because their wasn't and still isn't a show that showed, premiered, and focused on R&B like Video Soul did. They had guest stars, as shown here, great interviews, and a top 20 at the end of the week where they showed videos IN FULL, unlike these days on shows like 106th and short attention span. None of the shows compare to the wonders of Video Soul. I still miss shows like this, other than midnight love you have to look for good r&b and good luck finding it. It's around but not like it used to be, hopefully it will return one day in full force and we can see talent like Anita Baker once again on a regular basis, because there is an audience and the audience is well deserved and appreciative of the love this kind of music has to give.:)
She's another one of are Detroit beauties and talent. My youngest uncle use to date her when she was with, I think LTD or One Way. He said she was a good kisser but was to much into her music, so the relationship didn't last. Dam uncle how did you let that go?

That voice, that pace, that style, melanin, soul, omg...she is the best!
Talk to me: Baby girl showed up in her maxi dress, ROCKED the house and went home and kicked up her feet. Job DONE!!
😂😂
She never ever sings about putting a man down. Class act.
💗
All though they have put her down!!!!

Anita Baker is touring in 2023, and I will be seeing her in Greensboro, NC November 2023.
