As a fan of the Two Ronnies I loved this and the Not Nine OClock News. Not sure about Ronnie C and B. Loved the slowed down at end can learn the words.
They were around for years after this. Unlike Not Monty Python's Nine O'Clock News. Only Atkinson could keep in the limelight, by poncing around with a sword trying to get one laugh, or pulling faces.
Speak for yourself. I never forgot Smith and Jones, besides which this is 'Not' which has more classic sketches then those pair of infantile unfunny 2 Ronnies. Did the 2 Ronnies ever do anything as funny as Constable Savage or the Darts Match?
@@robwarner1858If you asked someone on the street to name a Two Ronnies sketch they’d probably give several. If you asked them to name a single Smith and Jones sketch I bet they couldn’t give one. I like both groups (and this sketch), but one is much better remembered than the other tbh.
Pamela Stephenson (all of them) - There's a bath-salts sketch elsewhere in the show where her t*ts are clearly on show several times. There's also a sketch in the first series where she is naked, trussed up like a pig on a platter.
How? Ronnie Barker complained about how Not the Nine O'clock News was smutty etc. This was hypocrisy on a very high level given that The Two Ronnies relied overwhelmingly on smutty euphemistic inuendo. So Not the Nine O'clock News responded to this blantant hypocrisy.
I didn't like it at the time, it struck me as petty and tiny minded and I was surprised that they stooped that low. What they're saying, in their "we're so smart, we went to Oxford" sort of way is that their humour is cleverer than the two Ronnies, which it isn't, it's different humour, not better or cleverer. Also it just wouldn't work as a sketch without the two Ronnies being incredibly well known and successful, so here NTNOCN are stealing the hard work and effort the two Ronnies put in to become successful, one could almost call it intellectual property theft.
As an American who enjoyed The Two Ronnies, as infrequently as I was able to view them, I do think they were a bit over the top at times, as well as extremely sexist. Having said that, Smith and Jones did such a spectacular job on this sketch, that I have watched it a half a dozen times. Property theft? Don't over-think it.
If this wasn't a funny spoof and a successful parody, I'd agree with the criticism. It is however, easily one of the best parodies I've ever seen and I've been chuckling ever since I first saw it a few weeks ago. If I were the two Ronnies, I would feel honoured by this!
Brilliant. I still remember laughing me arse off at this in 1980!
Fantastic. Thanks for the editing. I'm going to memorise the lyrics and sing it at Christmas.
Me and my mate sing this everytime we meet up, an absolute classic.
Gryff Rhys Jones is hilarious, but this is absolute brilliance by Mel Smith.
That's because Mel's writing most of the script and make sure Griff gets all the crappy bits 😅
@@torbjornkarlsen Well-played
I'm having this played at my funeral. Just see if I don't!

- Breasts _or_ testicles!

So we knicker and we knacker and we knocker, all day!
2:46 - 3:28 It's like the theme tune of a adult sitcom.
Its so close to The Two Ronnies, its hilarious.
Has me laughing my binacul-nocul-ars off my tripod
brilliant send up
I love it brilliant
Mel Smith, out of this world!!!
As a fan of the Two Ronnies I loved this and the Not Nine OClock News. Not sure about Ronnie C and B. Loved the slowed down at end can learn the words.
According to Two Ronnies director Paul Jackson, Corbett loved it, but Barker took it rather personally.
Not only that, but Ronnie Barker used every favour he had at the BBC to try to get it pulled. They told him no.
HAHAHA...love the slow version...
Thankyou
I heard that the " Ronnies did not like this
Ronnie Barker certainly never saw the funny side of this sketch!
Ronnie Corbett, though actually enjoyed it.
Spot on.
The sketch that ended the Two Ronnies
They were around for years after this.
Unlike Not Monty Python's Nine O'Clock News.
Only Atkinson could keep in the limelight, by poncing around with a sword trying to get one laugh, or pulling faces.
Funny thing is that everyones forgot Smith and Jones. But still watch 2 Ronnie's.
Speak for yourself. I never forgot Smith and Jones, besides which this is 'Not' which has more classic sketches then those pair of infantile unfunny 2 Ronnies. Did the 2 Ronnies ever do anything as funny as Constable Savage or the Darts Match?
Nonsense. S + J were one of the most famous comedy duos of the 1980s and 1990s.

I like the girls arses at the end.
I think that was just multiple versions of Pamela Stephenson!

Very funny guys.
Give me the two Ronnie's any day
Ronnie B hated it but Ronnie C thought it was funny.
What about Ronnie R's opinion?
Genius
They nailed it. Proper generation gap stuff - as many rude words as possible, why not?
Disrespectful.

Yes, and fucking brilliant!

Nah, this was in direct reply to Ronnie B criticising Not The Nine O'clock News as being crass and rude.
Apparently Ronnie C loved it.
