I advised my sons to watch 2 Films on particular 'PINK' & 'THAPPAD', before they embarked on their College studies. Gender sensitive Films help us in sanitizing the Patriarchal & Misogynistic thoughts.

    1. People who have not gone through this horror can only read statistics. I'd have loved to see these priviledged women talk about what they're doing about it.
    2. How ironic that the defendant of the perpetrator of such heinouscrime is initiating this conversation.
    3. In a country which has been going backwards for a decade, a large % of women hardly have the right to speak for themselves, leave alone educate their son.
    4. I'm apalled with this doctor who says "the kind of people we have in India", they have to rely on collegues in hospital for protection. Are patients/ their attendants the perpetrators? Has he ever heard about RG Kar case? Why is she even a doctor? She has no empathy
    5. They think working women are only in cities who will hire an uber driven by a woman driver to go home after work...
....such a waste of screen time!

Again, mothers have to teach the son. BUT the father continues to talk about and treat women, other and their own families in the worst possible way. It's the role of the father/man of the family here that determines what the boys learn.

I think it's an excellent topic but missing two critical elements. First and second, there should have been a criminal psychologist and a sociologist. I think that would have made this discussion deeper.

In New Delhi rape case during Congress regime none lawyer stands by the rapist ie the staff of bus. We can't understand how you address in favour of the government protecting them and rackets are done the henious crime. All the state institutions are corrupted since 2014. 75 percent of collection goes to Kalighat, the HQ. Inhabitants of WB expectation was transparency. But it is reversed. So, common people including Doctors are on the street. They are calling you kapila and Chandrabora, a snake. No judgement on DA case, SSC , Abhaya and tarikh pe tarikh .

The patriarchy is the root cause and I would say point blank with our Hindu (Sanathana) Religion, the culture based on our religion and our discriminatory caste system.
Let the educated lot in the country think about casteless society and reforms required indeed in our religion. What are we doing? Who are we in the world of civilized people? Are we called modern India with civilised culture?

Correct,. When someone from abroad comes to know about such things, theyll say its an 'Indian' doing it. And they'll judge each & every one of us as such. To them we are all the same. And ultimately, every state has regions where crimes against women are rampant.

Yes sir, the hindu patriarchal society is the reason for the rate of 35% rapes.
Per contra, the data from the free-world west show that pre-marital sex among the teens stands at more than 80%.
This means that they complete sexual intercourse, whether or not they complete their graduation courses.
Unless the hindu society adopts the western, christian free-sex society it can never bring down the hindu average of 35% rapes to Christian average of 27% rapes.

This episode was problematic on so many levels. First, the panel did not quite seem to know how to engage in a deeper conversation about crimes against women (except the young lawyer who was at least trying). I wonder who chose the panel. They don't seem like they had any real knowledge, insights, and value to add to the conversation. Infact, it looked like Kapil Sibal didn't want to have a real, thought provoking discussion about the issue and chose a light chatter where he came across as the most knowledgeable for which the panel was chosen accordingly.
What's worse is that the entire onus of ensuring security for women was put on women themselves - the mother should teach the son, the woman should be more confident and assertive, there should be more schools so girls understand the value of an education. All completely ridiculous and naive comments to make. Not once was the issue of the responsibility and accountability of men raised. Even the fathers were spared from teaching gender equality to their sons!
Needless to say, the conversation was misogynistic. The banker says you need a supportive husband while blaming patriarchy for crimes against women. The notion of the need for approval from the "husband" is patriarchal in itself. The dentist couldn't fathom why a pregnant woman should be assured job security once she is ready to return to work. And Kapil Sibal brushed off and even laughed at the idea that men should contribute to the household and cook. Not a very credible end to the show!
And yes, of all the people, Kapil Sibal doing this show was hypocritical to say the least.
Please spare us this kind of dumbed-down discourse in the future. There are so many women (and some men) who understand the real issues about crimes against women and they would've made this episode far more worth watching.

Nothing wrong with a man talking of women's issues a false mindset that only women know women's problems. They talked about co-ed schools/being inclusive. Am a mother of 3 boys my sons should not defend women as they are not women themselves? Chose to live in the West after education in India. My Malaysian Hindu 4th generation was her Mother-in-laws carer who accused her of showing her boobs. I suggested no men here but told my friend it is ok for a 25 year old bride (HER) to change father-in-laws nappy/handle his genitals but wearing a low cut T shirt is Wrong.

If not him someone else will, irrespective of how much s/he is against rapes because the constitution of the country mandates a fair trial for all. If no one will take up defend the culprit, then the court will appoint one otherwise the trial cannot proceed and the victim will never get the justice. The issue is getting timely justice which doesn't happen, at least in our country.

Interestingly He is trying to Generaliise all incidents. Timing is Important. It is not that such Incidents suddenly happening during Aug Sep 24. Never before Mr. Sibal had tweeted to inspire us to find out the reason WHY? 😂 On contrary He had emphasized about Place. 😂 But WHY this time he is focusing upon the REASON because his hidden agenda is showing this as a social problem like the WB Govt trying hard in R G Kar issue. Mr. Sibal you have every right to defend your Client in Court but please don't try to influence us by taking brief of your Client i.e WB Govt in Social Media. Mr. Sibal R G Kar incident is not the same even not similar with other such incidents of WB. When do you feel that if RGKar incident is same with others then WHY Lakhs of COMMON people of WB continuosly Demanding Justice since last ONE MONTH and ralliyng whole night without exception? Come here and See the aggrived common peple on road on 8th Sep. WHERE is More important in RG Kar case because Govt Adminstration, Police, Top Level Beurocrats Healh Admin and Ministers are trying hard to cover up the culprit/s and waeken the case by burning the dead body without the consent of Guardians of the Victim. It is not a mere case of Rape and Murder only. You know better than me sir. 1 lakh Doctors and Medical Students suffered a lot, harrased, their prospects were doomed by the Racket of Medical Mafia since last 8 years or more. This Medical Mafia racket is responsible for the incident. That is why, WHERE IS MORE IMPORTANT here in RG Kar Care. You may try hard to Generalise this but people of WB know for whom you are fighting in Supreme Court. YOU MAY BE A RENOWNED very Sr. ADVOCATE but WE ARE NOT FOOL😂😂 😂😂😊
