!!! awesome and legendary canadian band, classic and unforgetable performance one of the best ever,R.I.P. brian oliver "too loud" macleod(25/06/1952+25/04/1992),great guitarist, songwriter and music producer ex chilliwack, keep rocking m.r. "too loud" !!! brilliant & excellent upload million thanks
I´ve seen her supporting Whitesnake 1984 in Ludwigshafen (SW-Germany) in the first row. My first Eargasm at a Rock-Concert. Needless to say that I had a hearing impairment when the 80s were over, but hey: it was worth it. Darby Mills ROCKS!
Saw this band in about 1982 and they were amazing, sharing the stage with a couple of other Canadian rock bands of the day. Kick ass guitar and powerful female vocals by Darby, and damn she was just hot. Great memories.
Thanx! I 've been searching so long for mij own VHS-recording of this concert, and searched the net. Finally found, What a band and what a woman, Darby Mills wow.
How did I miss the greatness of the Headpins? I loved "Don't it Make You Feel Like Dancing" from the first time I heard it but never realized what great musicians they were. And Too Loud McLeod was up there with all the great guitarists.
Darby doesn't just look nice ..she's frick'n high energy and wild looking! Nice eyes...never really noticed before. Brian MacLeod RIP...smok'n! Nice post.
In 1992 when i was 18 I was listening to a syndicated American radio rock program in Canada and they did acknowledge Too Loud's death. RIP Too Loud. Keep on rocking out the memories.
Infernal rockin'! Loved them but never had a chance to see them alive. In ex Yugoslavia they attracted mostly metalhead audience for short period before Thrash Metal avalanche. Darby rocks socks off by her vocals and looked wow! Too Loud was guitar monster, RIP.
Marcel, Alan and myself met these guys in northern Ont. at a restaurant. Darby Mills was in the bus but we got to chat with the rest of the band. RIP Macleod. He was telling a joke about turning a salt shaker into a piece of fruit, lol.
Thanks for this post. I only saw them once live, in a local bar, back in the 90s. This was pretty cool. Man, she had a set of pipes on her. I never realized how hard she went at it on stage. (That bar stage was pretty small.) Helluva Rocker.
+Obermenzing Thanks for Comments!
I just can't believe these days where almost 40years ago? going to see harlequin, Streetheart.prisim, red rider...just so glad I grew up in that era smoking joints behind the arena drinking some shit mix of southern comfort just the smell of that stuff to this day makes me ILL but fun days, fun days lots of great memories and the memories of a man in his old age are the deeds of a man in his prime so in other words have something you can look back on and say ''fuck yeah!'LOL. Do what needs to be done in life but remember always have fun and laugh as much as possible. Too loud MacLeod died at 39 but lived but look what he did in that short life fuckyeah! RIP brother gone but always on.
I saw them play at the Royal towers Hotel in New westminster BC. in 1981, before first album. There were so many great bands in Vancouver in the late 70's/early 80's. The lead guitarist for a band called Mr. natural was the best I had ever heard in the early 80's. If anyone can remeber his name? The headpins deserved more recognition as did a lot of other bands in Van during that era. The Headpins had a bit more pull because of Too Louds recognition from Chilliwack.
I love how she says c'mon sing it with me and then continues to sing in an octave very few people alive can sing in without trashing their voices a few songs in.
I saw them on this Tour ( 1984 ) supporting Whitesnake ( Slide It In Tour - Hammersmith Odeon, London ). Good stuff. Great White were the opening Band...
This is an old recording from 1984, at that time concerts were emphasized with non-original fan sound, the background was reworked. This was normal at the time
How did they not go huge in the US? We heard them in the 80s in our small town in OR and our high school lined up to buy their music. Was it lack of promotion, or just outright blackballing? Did
What ???? you never heard of Headpins - you missed so much!! Darby is w/o doubt best female metal vocals by a mile and anyone try name a better boot stompin anthemic band just try you cannot. And need I even mention Macleod...just pure anthemic sex on guitar :) never recognised but always loved ty for the good times :)
+Kal Joseph >>A little bit. Darby Mills is Canadian and in 1982 brought out with Headpins the first LP (Turn it loud). But in 1986 Darby Mills was replaced briefly by Chrissy Steele
1.- Sorry, HARD ROCK? ;-) 2.- This is a matter of taste! Have some LPs of Lee Aaron. My opinion: Darby Mills has more voice (and livepower) and the music is better at lengths! ;-) -ok !?
You try singing like that with consistency. I know she's not everybody's cup of tea, in fact, I didn't like the Headpins when they were active. I thought they were cheesy and I still have some of those opinions within me.... but, I guess as I grew older, i began to respect her singing. She is basically the female ACDC, Bon Scott or Brian Johnson, but the thing is, as far as what I have heard, and this includes some of their recent performances, like at the Vancouver PNE in 2015, which makes her somewhere in her 50's or 60's and she can still sing like that. Hey, I'm only basing my opinion, I respect yours, makes me think you don't like hard rock? In any case, she is a consistent performer. Can't say the same for guys like Robert Plant or Brian Johnson. She can still deliver the shrieks on time and in tune!
Darby Mills wow. She had command of that ship. The best stage presence, style and energy. How could she have ever been replaced?!
@justdynee are you sure that that is what happened? brian already was enjoying fame in chilliwack at the same time, i think.
It was Brian's band. She forgot that.
Best rock/metal band with female vocalist of all times.
Next is Scandal with Patty Smyth! :)
Darby no doubt the best female rocker of all times
She's definitely one of my favorites.
She was a Powerhouse!!
holy shit she was awesome
and she still has those pipes to this day

Just in case you didn't know, this is what pure energy sounds like.
Darby has full voices Energy, the very best for me!
Have nothing comparable seen or heard in my life! (And also not live!)
Saw this band in about 1982 and they were amazing, sharing the stage with a couple of other Canadian rock bands of the day. Kick ass guitar and powerful female vocals by Darby, and damn she was just hot. Great memories.
One amazing concert !! Can’t believe the quality of the video! Rarely do you get good quality from old tapes! ❤
Thanx! I 've been searching so long for mij own VHS-recording of this concert, and searched the net. Finally found, What a band and what a woman, Darby Mills wow.
How much I've enjoyed the Headpins music!
Love hearing the original band members play instruments no one can compare to them .as always darby still sounds great.
How did I miss the greatness of the Headpins? I loved "Don't it Make You Feel Like Dancing" from the first time I heard it but never realized what great musicians they were. And Too Loud McLeod was up there with all the great guitarists.
Saw these guys all through the 80's at Whispers's Cabaret in NV..Brilliant group of musicians...Great fricken band..RIP To loud...
I've seen them too and they were the best i ever saw in my life.
Darby doesn't just look nice ..she's frick'n high energy and wild looking! Nice eyes...never really noticed before. Brian MacLeod RIP...smok'n! Nice post.
Wow. This is 1000% hard rock excellance, and in full female power! Darby FOREVER
In 1992 when i was 18 I was listening to a syndicated American radio rock program in Canada and they did acknowledge Too Loud's death. RIP Too Loud. Keep on rocking out the memories.
I was at this Concert, others how were there are Joe Cocker, Simple Minds, The Pretenders, and other great show 2 stages! Thanks for the memories!
Wow! This band could work anyone up into a frenzy in no time!! Fantastic to the max!!
Edited perfectly! Really fun to watch!

Darby rules wow amazing

Darby is killing it. Channeling some serious Janis here
& that too loud base is actually perfect too, thanks!
Ab Bryant is rockin' the bass for sure. The neck looks Fender and it has P-bass pickups, but the body shape isn't Fender. Not sure what it is...
Phenomenal
I love how she says c'mon sing it with me and then continues to sing in an octave very few people alive can sing in without trashing their voices a few songs in.
I remember seeing this on tellabishon late one night. It's not the whole broadcast - there's AT Least one tune missing - "Mine, all mine"!
I saw them on this Tour ( 1984 ) supporting Whitesnake ( Slide It In Tour - Hammersmith Odeon, London ). Good stuff. Great White were the opening Band...
July 85 civic arena Nanaimo B.C. from there to the beer gardans though'where fun day's !
For the first minute Brian "too loud " has a very Eddie Vanhalen sound to his playing talent listen carefully
Wicked!!!
Whole Lotta Blues.
Einfach nur Geil

Don't it make you feel like dancing. Don't it make you feel alright.
Darby is alive and well living in BC Canada.
Just saw a video of her performing in her sixties.
Mind Blowing!
Still has the pipes, energy, everything.
Justen Beaver and Dreak are the ones who are giving the Thumbs Down on this.......
Thumbs down from people without music knowledge!
Geddy Lee`s lost sister...
Robert Plant's lost sister
It would be awesome if she sang "The immigrants Song"
Wonder who was doing her oops i mean there awsome😅
This is an old recording from 1984, at that time concerts were emphasized with non-original fan sound, the background was reworked. This was normal at the time
I gotta a feva...and the prescription is more DM ass cam.

Damn what a fantastic post!! Do you have anymore footage of this concert? Would love to see the whole thing!
Unfortunately, only this concert recording. At that time only this short event was broadcasted.
That's a bummer!
canadian rock chicks are cooooooool, the rest of world drool except for few

Is she any relation to Chrissy Steele?
she looks a little like her and sounds the same.
+Kal Joseph >>A little bit. Darby Mills is Canadian and in 1982 brought out with Headpins the first LP (Turn it loud).

Where is Dortmund?

too loud Macleod R.i.p. Darby is a smoking hot bad ass.
She should've gone solo.
she tried. failed cause she sucks
1. She is NOT metal.2. You have never heard Lee Aaron if you think Darby is the best ever.
1.- Sorry, HARD ROCK? ;-) 2.- This is a matter of taste! Have some LPs of Lee Aaron.
My opinion: Darby Mills has more voice (and livepower) and the music is better at lengths! ;-) -ok !?
peheinz
I agree, I’ve listened to Lee Aaron way before Darby. But Darby is the best. She sounds very natural and energetic.
It's like Robert Plant knocked up Janis Joplin and they had a daughter.
Brianna Mac Cloud Doc Mills Arby Briant Me thinks is san all Transgender Band
Too Loud MacLeod
Horibble band singer has one of the most annoying singing voices I have ever heard
