Went to his show at the Rock & Roll Hotel in DC a few weeks ago. He blew my mind. Had a fantastic show and the crowd loved it. Even gave us a quick encore despite his being sick. If he comes back to town I'll definitely be right in the front row to see him.
I recently started preforming my music live with an akai mpd, like Baths does. I can honestly say it's pretty damn hard. Once you get the feel for it though, it's way easy. So don't think he's up there just hitting play and fucking with knobs, every knob and pad is serving a purpose.
baths tu es juste magique, je ne connais rien d'aussi planant malgré mes modestes connaissances de critique musical, comment expliquer le sentiment qui me retourne quand je t'écoutes.. i love you
as a musician you and i should be aware that people make music because it invokes a feeling. if you don't like it, don't listen to it. but don't tell people they are wrong for enjoying it. an opinion is an opinion and your ears aren't better. i love baths and his shows this week at cmj in nyc were absolutely stellar. ps. if you appreciate musicians and appreciate listeners, they might appreciate you too.
@RoneciDesade Uhh, well you're wrong too dude. He's not JUST beat repeating but he didn't make every individual sound himself. A good majority of building electronic music is sampling, which still isn't easy to do. He probably layers his instrumental tracks with an idea in mind and then sweeps in with his glitches and effects. Notice how is computer is there. He's play the basic track with the instruments, and he's probably got all his plug-ins on the same software as well.
While I agree with some of the comments that this song isn't as great as some of his others, I think hearing a proper studio recording in stereo, with a hell of a lot more bass would make me not even notice.
@michaeljackson407 owl city is hardly comparable, baths is so unique, i mean yeah there is teebs and gold panda etc. but you can always tell a baths song.
@AndrewReyna You have no concept of what he is doing. He has played every instrument himself, and he manually layers them on the fly, while augmenting certain layers to add depth. You shouldn't belittle something that you would never be capable of yourself.
Forgot about you will! Still the same vibes when I play all your music from back then!
This dude is nice an i could careless about what people say about his creativity . he is whats up.
greatest version of plea ever

I love the lyrics!
seeing him tomorrow night! so excited!

Underrated

So rad
amazing bro
You can't even comprehend how amazing he is live. I wonder how he gets the effect on his vocal, or if it's just a track he's singing over
@ideanteb its an Akai MPD32 its a controller for the program on his laptop.
sweet!
whaaatta boss.
HE USED TO BE CHUNKY??? we lost something beautiful in the years
missed this comment 3 years ago, but I wholeheartedly agree 😅
@Ximenex It's the Akai MPD32.
I didn't think, for his very ambient style, that he would move so much xD
He is awesome
Ambient?? Shit is BANGING Baths is one of the most underrated hardest hitting producers despite his often glossy and hypersaturated tones
@Ximenex
It's probably the APC40 for Ableton live
its still sounds good i wouldnt care if he made it with a tooth brush a drinking glass , hes creative an your hating but watching it at the same time
possibly the greatest comment on youtube.
I'm hating? Last time I check, explaining how something is done isn't "hating." I'm a huge fan of Baths.
@AnalogVenture I see, you are correct sir.

Fucking hot.
@walruscoocoocachu26 menopausal ladies love Baths!

I'm stuck on this song- video.
Ben Gibbard + Eric Wareheim = Baths
lmao
6 people don't care for his music.
140 do.
Pretty nice ratio.
I came to this conclusion when I saw he had a Kodama on his laptop.
@AndrewReyna you try it
@AndrewReyna You have no concept of what he is doing. He has played every instrument himself, and he manually layers them on the fly, while augmenting certain layers to add depth. You shouldn't belittle something that you would never be capable of yourself.
Princess Mononoke reference.
@AndrewReyna thats more than most dj type electronic musicians do. and its not one track actually, hes queuing tracks and filtering as well : /
Kind of reminds me of Ben Gibbard, if he made electronic music haha. Oh wait...
@ideanteb Akai MPD32
@takepills hahahahahahaha!
This video is most popular with:
Gender Age
Male 25-34
Male 35-44
Female 55-64 wait, wut?
Uhm... Not sure what Princess Mononoke has to do with him singing this song to a guy and presenting it as "a song for the gays" when he plays live.
Is a scratch pad like this? Nope, this is harder...
OwlCity... OwwwlCi-ty. This music sounds really nice... but... Isaid.
Ness Yarden Are you an Owl? Living in a city? What... ?
Tja.
ridiculous.
it would be so awesome if he didn't sing
This is fucking terrible
1:54 *_*
he is so amazing
ridiculous.
