  • New Browning Recon Force Elite HP4 trail camera review.
There is one minor fault with this camera. But overall I'm very pleased with the product so far.
**There is also information on firmware updates that will rectify issues on this and various other Browning models.**
**I have also since been informed that the maximum video length using the Smart IR option is 5 minutes in daylight hours. And not until the target animal leaves as stated in my review. As discussed 20 seconds in the maximum video duration at night in any mode.**
Here is a recent video I made introducing this new trail camera:

Something on native vs interpolated megapixel count. Basically if a camera states it is 20 or 30 megapixels for example as many trail cameras do be wary of the claim. Unless it states it is native it is probably interpolated. It is meaningless and little more than a marketing stunt. See here:

Also here is a video I made on trail camera security (the first segment of the video):

    I enjoyed your review.
I wish I had purchased the HP4 last year instead of the Edge and the Edge 4k. I hated those cameras so much that I returned them back to Browning.
I agree about the 20 seconds at night issue. Make a 30-second(or more) options at the very least.

Glad you enjoyed it. I waffled on a lot. 😂

Reconyx XR6 does 30 seconds at night, but they are $600.00 and have almost 1 second trigger time. Thanks for this review, I'm going to try this model to get away from the Reconyx brand.

Thanks My Earth. I am used to the 20 second issue now. Best of luck.

Night time photos are sharper than my cheaper cameras, it takes 1/120th/sec pictures instead of 1/30th/s at night.
I also have some SD card issues, I can't use micro-SD with a SD adaptor, for some reason an error message is displayed, even after formatting the card (of course my tablet only has a *micro* SD slot 🙄)... no USB either to directly copy the pictures to the tablet.
I also like to record photos AND videos, I can't do that with this model. I need photos for my software and to keep a precise long term record - keeping videos only would take too much disk space and the software can't use them (no standard Exif data on video).

Thank you for the video. I've learned from Shawn Woods (Mousetrap monday YT channel), that the Exodus Lift II cameras can record long night videos, and you can rig up larger external batteries/solar to them as well. One of my hobbies is recording wildlife as a non-hunter, as well as looking into historical events that have been swept under the rug, like the USS Liberty attack.
