    My friend has let me know that Browning’s HDR setting stands for High Dynamic Range Photography. I looked this up and when using HDR mode it widens the exposure range allowing more detailed shots and loss of less details in both darker and brighter areas. Looks like it is used in Trail Camera Mode for photos.

    Awesome.
    I have had 2 HP5s leak from the top. Have you had any issues with that happening?
    edit: they were replaced by Prometheus (Browning) very quickly.

      Hi Frank, I have not had any issues with this camera leaking nor with the Spec Ops Elite HP5. Sorry to hear that you are having problems with them.
      My Stealth Cam DS4K Ultimate had some condensation under the lens after the last heavy rainstorm a few weeks back. Dried it out and now the battery meter is not working accurately so put fresh batteries in it and it took over 800 20sec clips with zero animals on day one so I tried again and over 650 clips on day two and again no animals and not too windy so no idea what’s up with that! I guess that bit of moisture caused the issues. Only other cam I’ve had leak was a CamPark T45A. None of my Brownings have leaked.
      Let me ask you a question. I just had to return a BushNell Core DS4K 30MP cam bc the audio sounded terrible but I liked the video. I’d really like to add a BushNell Cam but that was my 3rd return(different models: S4K and Primos Prime) as the other two would not hold their input settings. Any models you can recommend? Maybe a different brand lol! You know how it is always wanting best all around day and night video plus audio! Was considering trying a white flash camera at some point as well.
      Have a good night,
      Char

      @@trailcameratexaswildlife9526 Hi Char. Good to know that you have no leakage with the Brownings. I just siliconed the top of what I have around the house.
      My second go-to regular camera brand is Alpha Cam. They are less expensive and have great battery life and quality. Almost all of the ones that I have tried have good-quality sound.
      Suspect and Bolygard make good affordable white flash video cameras. I use more Boly than Suspect. Reconyx is out of my league price wise.
      I have a few Bushnells left. Two are in boxes still in the house. One just burned in a controlled burn, and one is a zombie cam that won't die in Costa Rica. The view screen on it died 3 years ago, so you change any settings, smehow it keeps working. --Frank

      Hi! Thanks so much the clips are looking good. Of course there is a bit of a learning curve with each camera. I always have to work with the camera for at least a month to get used what works in each spot setting wise. We have such high weeds and winds right now too. I don’t want to cut too much right now as the Does need somewhere to stash their Fawns while they get out to feed! Have a great night, Char

      Hi Dave! The video is pretty nice quality. I have to say this is already my second favorite camera bc I love the old Recon Force Advantage Cameras so much. The audio issue is interesting to me. It doesn’t seem to like human voices. I had my husband and kids with me one camera check and same thing. I was thinking it might pick up my husband’s voice better but not really. I did not make any audio adjustments on my end in the editing process so not sure what is up. Very odd indeed. You can hear the day audio fine at 75% volume and the night at 50% volume which is where I usually listen. The nighttime audio is pretty spectacular and picks up a lot of fine sounds. The pond site was perfect to show this. Thanks for having a look 👀 and enjoy the rest of your day, Char 😊🦌🦝☀️

      Hi Tracy! Thanks it is definitely a great camera. As I get to learn more about it and it’s settings I hope to get lots of great video. Did well on the first few runs with all of our Texas wind right now and tall weeds and grass this was actually a prime spot LOL! All cams have the same issue right now it seems. It’s been through 2 thunderstorms already and branches got in front of the camera both times even though I moved the camera after the first storm! It figures. If you ever want to send me an SD card with your trail cam clips I’d love to see and maybe use them in a video. I can always mail the full card back to you. I have been collecting some clips from friends in Texas. My email is in my channel description! Either way, I’d love to make contact with you for the next time we come down to the beach. Next time I will bring my metal detector for sure! We have colds right now so we missed our annual end of April trip for my son’s birthday bc we all had the flu or something. I sure wish I could go fishing too but my kids are too busy to sit still so that’ll be in a few years lol! Have a great holiday weekend, Char😊

    Great shot of the little blue heron catching the fish and that last doe looks like she's due anytime lol, I got the HP5 a few weeks ago and I'm really pleased as well, I tried the spec ops but the black flash just gave it too soft of a look at night for me, I like the bright crisp night videos better on the recon elite even though the flash is more visible. Good review!

    • @trailcameratexaswildlife9526
      @trailcameratexaswildlife9526  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you! I really enjoy seeing the Herons here. Oh cool I’m glad you picked one up as well and like it. The night video is definitely crisp on this one. Do you have the HDR setting on for the nighttime video? I still haven’t turned it on but the nighttime video is already pretty spectacular! I don’t mind the flash being visible as the animals seem to still come. The only time it can be an issue is during the Rut when the Bucks are cautious but at the same time throwing caution to the wind if that makes sense LOL! The Spec Ops may be a good option for then. That Doe had her Fawn 2 days later. I have only gotten a couple clips so far but did a #Shorts on the first clip at 1 day old! Last year I didn’t see a Fawn until July. Here is the link:

      @@trailcameratexaswildlife9526 Is the HDR setting something that is just for pictures mode? The manual only mentions picture mode from what I can tell but like you said the night time video is already pretty great so if it doesn't improve it any there's no real loss. I responded to this comment in full under my recent Recon Force Elite HP5 video. Short answer here, no wireless for this one. They do have cellular cameras but I don’t own one. Each of my cams had 2 SD cards I collect them all and use a card reader on my phone to save the clips to my camera roll.

    hi just got this camera struggling to get to grips with it can it take photos and video at the same time instructions don't make it very clear

    • @trailcameratexaswildlife9526
      @trailcameratexaswildlife9526  Рік тому +1

      Hi there. This camera has Trail Cam mode which is pictures only and it has Video mode which is video only. It doesn’t do them at the same time. Some other cameras have that function it will sometimes be called Hybrid mode or have another name set by the brand. When a camera takes both pictures and video the pictures are always taken first before the video so many times the video portion of the subject will be missed especially if the subject is not stopping in the field of view and just runs or walks by. So the higher the number of pictures set the less video you would get in that scenario. I rarely use photo mode and prefer video but many people use photo mode only as it saves on batteries. Have a good day, Char😊🦌👍

      @@trailcameratexaswildlife9526 i've been mainly using the walmart batteries. They're so cheap, and have seemed to last just fine. I haven't really scrutinized them, in comparisons though. But at least they were testing the full 1.5v out of the package.

    What an excellent review Char, your really did great work explain thing very well... efficiently and straight to the point. And you allow us to see exactly what we needed to know via the camera's performance.
    Overall this is an excellent camera. Daylight video seems a bit warm and the colours are slightly oversaturated, but that will please some... a matter of personal preference. The night video is superb which is generally what's most important to me. And to my ears, the sound quality of the night-time videos is better then the daylight videos. I'm puzzled as to why that would be.
    For my needs and that of most wildlife researchers, this camera would be an excellent addition to the fleet for its amazing night-time capabilities.
    Thank you very much for this review, and I'll likely be adding a few of these cameras to my fleet based on this review. I'm quite confident that the university will be interested in this cameras as well. I'll reference this videos at my next budget meeting.
    Best regards,
    George

      Thank you for this comment George. Turns out I really like the camera and the lithium batteries seem to work great. It will be interesting to see how the rechargeable batteries do as well. I agree with your assessment of the color saturation. I actually am one that likes the warm tones. The Spec Ops is the same way. Kind of warm, rich coloration. I am not sure about the daytime sound either and hoping it isn’t just this camera. You can still hear sound but it could be better and I shouldn’t have to adjust my volume. I made the video without volume adjustments in the editing app. The nighttime video is nice and close and the closeups are great for detail both day and night. Glad you are considering this camera for your study needs. That’s awesome! Have a great day, Char😊

    Why is everything so overexposed -- can you adjust the settings. It's way too bright it seems.

    • @trailcameratexaswildlife9526
      @trailcameratexaswildlife9526  2 роки тому

      Hi Joe, are you talking about the daytime colors? This camera processes the coloration that way. They are somewhat oversaturated. Some people like it but some don’t prefer it. You cannot adjust it. The green tones are pretty interesting as are the color of the Deer. The Spec Ops Edge is another Browning camera I have that does this with daytime coloration but it is more of a warm tone and the images seem to have more of a soft edge focus close to mid range. This camera has some interesting color with sharper images up close and mid range. The LED lights can be adjusted differently at night but I like them like this as the wildlife is super sharp looking. Not sure if you were talking about day or nighttime video. Thanks for commenting, Char😊
