I just found out about this today. Great news! I love my DTX kit but the user interface is in fact a bit cumbersome when it comes to add and edit layers. Thanks Yamaha and Simon for this very useful overview.
Sweet, can’t wait to download this firmware update. New sounds, new kits, this new midi link feature is really nice. I’ve been using a midi host Device to trigger my DTX pro sounds with my Roland spd-30 for almost 2 years. Good job Yamaha for figuring this new midi link feature!!! Hopefully DTX Pro/X will still get a phone app to edit modules,
I'm confused... Is USB trigger link only for connecting to older DTX modules or can it receive Midi data from anything? The updated reference list appears to say the latter. I'm trying to figure out if i can connect my DTX Multi 12 to this thing and use its sounds.
Tip. If you connect the USB drive via an extension USB cable (if your equipment is tucked in a studio corner) then it is easier to install new USB drives or swap out to PC for download of new firmware and sounds etc.
I keep getting a file not found message, so damn frustrating. Brand new USB drive. If I am supposed to unzip the update file it would be nice to know that
Way to go, Yamaha! It's fascinating to think of these instruments as being a part of a live ecosystem with updates and new sounds/features.
New kits sound awesome. I just bought a second hand dtx 6k2x two days ago, just in time for the update. Rad. Thanks Yamaha!
A marvellous bunch of new drum and cymbal samples and easier ways to play around with them. Cheers Simon / Yamaha!

Good stuff guys! Glad you work on it and improve it! I wonder how much you can support other party gear for it, would be great!

Is this just for the Pro X?
From their video titles, looks like the Pro and ProX both have firmware updates.
