In December of 2029, I flew from Grand Junction, CO down to Phoenix/Mesa Gateway airport. I just happened to look out the window at the right time and saw the crater, an awesome experience. I still want to see if from the ground. I could pick out the SF Peaks also. Thanks for this beautiful video and music.
I was here in 2015 and loved it! I am going to Sedona AZ at the end of this month and am going to re-visit the crater, since I will pass right by it why not check it out again? good video man. Brings back some forgotten memories
If you've been that's not hard to imagine! Outside of the museum I doubt much has changed over the years. Heck... it's been pretty much the same since I (Amy) moved here nearly a decade ago. 😅 Always fun to see it as it just doesn't fail to impress!
Thank you for sharing the video. For the past 7 years I watch a lot of meteor documentary on UA-cam and other streaming media but they never mention about the museum at the crater in Arizona. So after looking on the Google map for the crater in Arizona I notice the Touring Meteor Space Museum at the edge of the crater on the map. I didn't think there was a museum but glad they made one. I decided to look up on UA-cam for any tour so I came across your video. Your video was great! Thx for sharing. Hopefully someday I'll go even though I'm in Connecticut is a long way out.
The museum is small but certainly a great addition to the experience (especially if you can manage to keep yourself from peeking at the crater beforehand. Hope you get an opportunity to visit some day! 😄
Can't say we've seen it from the air but I've certainly seen photos and can't agree more. There's probably no missing it if you're flying overhead! 😅 Thanks for watching!
@@CactusAtlas Actually, I was on a flight to Puerto Vallarta from Canada and just happened to glance out at exactly the right moment. I knew where we were because of seeing it in the movie "STARMAN" with Jeff Bridges
Our pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it! It's funny... despite having been there a number of times we still miss out on the guided tour and the 4D experience! One day...!
Hi Glenn, we attach your channel often! We are headed to Arizona this week! Wondering how far is the walk out to the crater overlooks! Our friend just had back surgery, and I can’t find an answer on the website! Thanks in advance! Pam
Oh gosh. It's been a while since we went so the memory is a bit foggy to specifics. Using Google maps it seems the path to the telescopes is about 166 feet or so and maybe half that distance from them to the lower ramada. The path to the uppermost observation deck is the longest and steepest from what I recall. -Amy
Great video. Love you special effects and very entertaining. This has been a place of interest for me for years after the movie Starman. So nice to get a video of the crater as well as the education aspect. Super good job
It's a pretty quick stop really. If you're in the area again you'll have to give it a visit. It's really worth it! The sad thing is that no matter what one uses to film or photograph... I'm not sure one can ever really get the feel of how large the crater is.
Thank you so much! Oh you have to stop next time you're out heading west on I-40! It's really doesn't take a long time to go through the museum. It's pretty small. If we're being honest, even that Thing roadside attraction we visited is larger. 😅
@@CactusAtlas if my memory serves me, it was mostly information stations and pictures. I don't think they had all the physical displays, video stations and interactive bits. Of course this was before LCD and touch screens, so I guess I won't hold it against them.
Unfortunately wind is one of those things that's hard to really say when is better. As for heat, late fall to early Spring avoids the hotter months though it can get cold on occasion.
My pilot friend and I flew over the crater a few yrs ago. Even from 2,000’ or so was amazingly large. Thanks showing
Now THAT is a good way to get the whole crater into view. Amazing! 😄
@ O agree we circled it several times. I too pics will have to find them. If find how can I send them?
Looks wonderful, Thank you

That's awesome to hear! Thank you for watching and have a great time visiting Sedona. One of our favorite places to hike and explore.
Very cool 😎 I remember bits and pieces of this one

@@CactusAtlas I remember the the meteor inside the museum. It’s been a long time

Even at over 30,000 ft in a commercial airliner? That damn hole is still bigger than life!

I saw it from an airplane too. Still pretty spectacular.
A fun and creative video, Glenn and Amy. It's been decades since I've been to the crater. The museum has definitely added some cool stuff.

It Looks steep for someone that is somewhat handicapped! 😬

5:15 I was gonna ask if they still had this. Awesome video !
Thank you!
Good video, I was in that area in June, i didn't stop, your video makes me wish I had! It is a lot bigger than I imagined.

@@CactusAtlas I feel that way about a lot of places in Arizona, a camera doesn't even come close to capturing what your seeing!
So true!
Your videos are very thorough! Very well done! My husband have stopped here with my son. I never did. I didn’t know they had a museum!!!
Thank you so much!

thanks for the tour! I've always meant to stop, but sadly drove past.
Any time! Happy to take you along on our adventure! 😊
Great tour, so amazing place. Full watched and supported. Stay connected, my friend
Thanks so much!
Epic intro and epic face mask, hahaha. I went the about 20 years ago, and I don't think they had such an expansive museum back then.
Thanks! Deep down we're kind of Disney nerds so we got a 4 pack from ShopDisney.com. 😅 I would be so curious what the museum looked like before!
