- This one goes out to my brother Christopher Albion McCabe, December 14th, 1947 - June 5th 2023. From the last performance of the song on the Thursday night June 1st prior to him being found deceased the following Monday at his apartment during a wellness check.
My brother, besides being a lifelong Dead Head, Black Muddy River was one of his favorite songs. Plus he was a huge continuing fan of Dead an Company as well - loved John Mayer to boot. He was looking forward to me getting himself some of the downloads from this last tour of theirs - from me! Alas he would never hear any of this tour since this would be his own 'last tour' as well. In life.
However he had requested that Black Muddy River be played for him at his Memorial - we didn't do that! It t is one those things that slips through the cracks when a loved family member suddenly parishes off of the earth. yea we did forget the music so yea this one is for you Christopher!

This Raleigh show was an expected gem. It rained on us, and when John was singing Sugaree and the line about standing out in the pouring rain, he smiled and winked at us and it was so cute. They did birdsong as well and it was magical. Shout out to the people of Raleigh because it is a fantastic town and we had a great time. ❤

BMR is the song that channels Jerry into my soul more than any other song. D&C closed out a show in Dallas with this and I cried my eyes out...
Phenomenal show. It started raining that night midway through the show. The band played on and the crowd didn’t skip a beat. This song played in the encore shortly after the rain lifted. It was transcendent.
