- Thanks for watching! Today one of my older Sulcata tortoises Damia laid eggs! She is about 35 years old and we've had her for over 20 years!

A big part of my videos was my dog Tillman who recently passed away. I took a small break from posting longer videos like this but kept posting shorts here and there. But I’m back to posting and I’m sorry for the break. Next week I’ll be posting another video and will be more active 🐢💚

My grandpa has a tortoise. Herbie’s just a few younger than he is, and they both act similar. This year Ol' Herb has turned 70, and since they didn’t know when Herb was born, they celebrate their birthdays on the same day.
That’s literally so cute 😭 I hope to adopt a tortoise one day and emulate this 💗
Amazing! My dad actually got Ike my 48 year old tortoise when Ike was a hatchling! So he has been in the family longer than me haha
@@TheTortoiseWhisperer My grandpa said that if he croaks before Herb, my dad would be the one to take care of Herb. Herb’s a Leopard tortoise, and his favorite food is cabbage or strawberries.

How exciting for Damia to resume laying. Any theories why? It can't be lack of TLC or nutrition, etc. Your tortoises are surely loved.
Very exciting! I'm not too sure why exactly but it's been about 2-3 years since she has laid. I did some research and it is believed that tortoises can lay fertile eggs up to four years after mating. 🐢

8 whole months of wait for the legend to return
Tortoises are the most skilled patient animals in the world, I would not be able to dig a burrow like that
I love watching your tortoises just hamming it up, especially Ike.
Sunday, I went to the Overland Park (Kansas) Arbeteum. I saw a lot of koi in the large pond swimming upto the wooden bridge begging for food.
Right in the midst were a couple of turtles (couldn' t tell whether they were snapping or box turtles). I think they were uneasy about being amongst the fish, and were trying to keep their distance. I think the koi couldn't care less about the koi.
Just an fascinating sight to behold.

I live here in phx. I have a male (10) and female (9) recently my male has become very aggressive with my female, biting her face, legs, being a bully. I’ve had to separate them. Any suggestions? I want to keep them together. Have you encountered this behavior?

Hello! So this does happen often when the males are trying to find another tortoise to breed with and they can get pretty aggressive. I would separate them if he is doing things like flipping her over. But slowly getting them used to each other by giving them meals together and slowly spending time with each other will help 🐢

So at the top of my head I can think of, Ike, Damia, Demi, Francy, Gertie, Dino, Dozer, Rhino, and Linus, and Baby Ike (baby tortoise). The others we’re gonna have to come up names with 😁🐢

What about predators? How to you protect them? And do the big ones like Ike have to worry about that?
So as for the baby tortoises when they go in their outdoor enclosure, they have safe tops that goes over their enclosure. But we don’t have any predators that mess with the big tortoises 🐢

I just discovered your channel, love at first sight for both me and my partner. I noticed the small concrete stomp Ike had to go through to get into the backyard with the ladies. I noticed he seemed to have some minor difficulty getting over it and scratching his belly. Do you think adding a small ramp might be a good addition for their quality of life when moving around? Obviously you know more than me, I'm curious to hear your take

❤❤wow, so glad my tortoise, Mekon, is a male. Would not know what I'd do with a female. You're fortunate that they like hay, our tortoise will not eat it.. but does graze on lawn grass... and very picky. Is that normal, or is he just spoiled?? I learn a lot from youe videos, thank you!!
He may be a little spoiled but all my babies are spoiled as well haha that just means you love them! I’m sure he is eating healthy but if there is hay out for him to graze on I’m sure he would get a routine going and eat on the hay 😁🐢

I have a Burmese stars tortoise and sometimes I get lost on what to feed her and was curious if you can maybe make it a little easier for me your videos are a help. but doesn’t matter that it’s a different species of tortoise on what they eat
