I've decided to go back to where my obsession over performance all started. I ran multiple brands of software & hardware in my 2016 Audi S3, until I found the company that squeezed every last drop of performance out of it. I ran a bunch of different software as well as a ton of different hardware. I plan on doing the exact same thing to my MK8 GTI! I've lined up 5 different companies to work with to try and get the utmost performance out of my daily driver, and I can not wait to get started!!!

UPDATE: EQT offered to participate 2 days before I performed my Stage 1 - 91 Octane - Low Torque dyno comparison. Their stipulation to participating was that when all of my testing was complete, I had to return the software & the hardware.
This is not the same agreement I have with the rest of the participating companies. It is not fair that they would get to benefit from participating in this comparison and not have to honour the same agreement that I have with the rest of the field.
They were not willing to budge and match the same offer as the rest of the companies, so they are not participating.
I informed them that if they would like to play by the same rules as the rest of the companies participating, I'd love to have them on board moving forward.

This is going to be awesome!!Unfortunately one thing you can’t truly test is reliability/longevity of course. I know when i look into tuning the highest power always looks the most attractive, but i also love to see how long companies have been tuning that platform and hearing from their current customers online. Anyone can tune aggressively but safety is key. Looking forward to this!
Very true. All of these companies have been tuning VAG cars for years, so I trust that they've all taken reliability and longetivity into consideration as well when making their software.

Same! I've built some awesome cars using IE software & and hardware, and I expect their Mk8 stuff would have been amazing as well.
034 has the world record for the MK8 GTi in the 1/4 mile so this should be fun to watch!
They certainly do! They're the only company thus far to put in a solid effort with the PMAX turbo upgrade from Garrett. Iit should be one hell of a good racing season!

Dude, this is EXACTLY the comparison I've been waiting for!!! I have the APR stage 1 low torque and can't wait to see if I should keep it or jump ship.
APR does claim an almost stage 2 leap in performance numbers with a performance intercooler and intake, which I do have on my MK8. Is your intercooler and intake setup stock, or have those been modified?
The first batch of dyno testing will be done on all stock hardware. Eventually I'll be testing with a full array of bolt on parts though.

Wondering where you take your daily’s for wheel alignment? Do you stick with mostly OEM alignment specs (even with lowered suspension etc)? I have a modified Mk5 KO4 GTI on coilovers, modest drop, and I’ve had unsatisfactory results from 2 recent alignment attempts…
The only shop I trust to do alignments on my daily drivers and my racecar is Dale's in Langley. Let them know I sent you, and they'll take great care of you.
So, I’m the only one I know of in the MK7 GTI/R community, that runs an 87oct file. I’ve been using it for over 2 years, and it’s currently on WMI. I’m IS38. I’ve had zero issues using 87oct, but I have been custom tuned for it, through Frank Mabo using Maestro software. The car won’t reach as much boost as a 91oct file, but it’s still peppy enough for a daily. Best thing about it is the gas savings. Mpg’s are the same.

Absolutely not. That is one of the disclaimers I forgot to include in the video. After all of the R&D each of these companies put into their software I will not be sharing that info with the public. That would be extremely unfair and rude of me.
@VancityAudi makes sense and yeah I would think that they wouldn't participate if so. Duh 🤣
From what APR told me. In order for the APR + limited power train warranty to cover your vehicle. Your vehicle has to have either oem or APR approved hardware. Meaning if you have any products installed other than APR. That warranty will not cover your power train. Meaning if your intercooler, charge and boost pipes, air intake system, turbo inlet pipe and silicone hose, and short shifter just to name a few upgrades. And they arent made by APR. Then APR's APR+ warranty will not cover your power train.
You are correct. For many people looking to get more power out of their GTI's though, that are fine with running APR hardware as well to squeeze out some more power, it looks like an awesome idea. We'll find out how awesome soon enough.

😂 HELL NO! As much as I have some decent snow tires, I would never head out in the snow voluntarily in my GTI.

@@VancityAudi it was lowered with silver wheels (didn't see too close) looked a bit similar.
It would be nice if you could do the back to back testing overnight and into the morning, when the density altitude and temps wouldn't fluctuate as much.
😂 If you know of a local dyno shop that's open throughout the night you let me know, lol. Plus there's no way I'm spending my entire evening and into the middle of the night dyno testing cars, haha. I like to help the community doing this stuff, but I'm not nuts.

@THEE_BRZRKR you clearly don't know the guys at RG too well, lol. The day I have planned to do the first round of testing is only supposed to fluctuate by 3 degrees Celsius.
What octane are you testing on? Does your MK8 have an intercooler or intake? Sorry if you mentioned it, I skipped around a bit.
I went over the octane I'll be starting with and testing multiple times in the video. The car will have all stock hardware for the first batch of testing.

To my knowledge, Jackal isn't an OTS or canned tuner
@VancityAudi i believe they just offer few platforms. 4.2, 3.0t, 4.0t and ea888

Never even considered them, seeing as they're a nobody in North America. Not only that, they don't offer an OTS Mk8 GTI tune.

RPI Equipped does not make software. They are simply a dealer for some of these companies I'm testing.

Funny just today APR dealer sent me back home saying they don’t support the box code while racingline dealer said they tuned a 40 anniversary S0002 box code which should just be emissions update from my S0001 box code.
APR - no go
Racingline - fingers crossed will come through for me.
Ya, box codes and what each company has figured out is a finicky thing for sure.
