Sorry to do another Civic review guys, but this one was filmed right before we left for the Si and Type R media drive. Even though we did a full review on the Sport hatchback last year, we felt a full review on the fully loaded Sport Touring would be appreciated since most of you buy this car with an automatic :)
+Redline Reviews If you don't mind me saying, you don't seem excited about this car as you did with Elantra Sport where you seemed to have enjoyed accelerating to the redline in Elantra Sport 201-hp mated with manual. Honestly, is Honda Civic Hatchback Sport not good as Elantra Sport? I am curious about it. Thanks in advance for your inputs.
My boss has this exact car and I think it is a very striking and distinctive vehicle in the sonic gray. Every time I see it pass on the highway during our morning commute it reminds me of Darth Vader's Tie Fighter. Subtle the car is not. I can spot it from 50 yards and that is kind of the point in a sport version of a Civic. Attention getting without the negative connotation of a fart can or sheet metal spoiler.
I'm so jealous. I went to the Honda dealership today looking specifically for this one and they had none. Went with an accord in the end... now I'm regretting lol
@@vivien4571 So you went to the dealer to buy the Civic and changed your mind and got the Accord instead the same day because they didn't have it in your color? omfg
I've had this white Sport Touring Civic X for a year now and I get asked questions about it at least once a week, still after a year. I commute over 100 miles round per day and love the drive every time. Honda nailed it on this one.
I'm currently trying to find this model right now to purchase...hard to find! How would you recommend this for uber or Lyft? I plan on putting probably about the same miles on the car per day and so reliability and low maintenance cost is an absolute must! Also how is it on gass. Any flaws to know about this car?
I loved this car. Shortly after I made that comment, a distracted driver using her phone Dale Earhardted me at 70mph and put me in the wall hard. Totaled my car. I still miss it RIP
@@CadenMichnal i drove the piss out of it. I mean I drove it like I stole it and it always delivered. I seemed to always get 30-36mpg and it went. Hahaha. Civic sedan LX, EX, EXL, Touring. Civic Coupe with LX, LXP, EX, Touring. Civic hatchback with LX, Sport, and Sport Touring, Type R. Civic SI which comes with the coupe and sedan...
So many haters. This is just an awesome car. I know because I have the exact same car as in this review. And there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the CVT. The paddle shifters in sport mode work great. At this stage of my life, I am over pushing in a clutch.
CoCoLuv9491 cvts are terrible no actual gears! How can you live with a car where when you accelerate it sticks at 2 or 3k rpm wondering when it'll shift. I've driven a friend's crv which has the same cvt and that constant wrrr-ing when you accelerate was annoying
It's like anything else. Once you know how to use it, you'll be happier with it. I had a 14 civic ex and I now have a 2017 sport touring. If you know how and when to hit the gas partially, or floor it or sweep to full throttle, it works VERY well, is efficient, and faster than its stickshift counterpart.
I always watch your reviews when shopping for a new vehicle. A few years ago I bought the Honda Fit on your recommendation and loved it. This time my wife and I bought the Civic Spot Touring. It is truly a great car. We appreciate your comprehensive reviews and objectivity.
I’m in the market for a new vehicle and I test drive a used one today that came off of a lease and well I’m working on getting it! I really like the look of these hatch backs
Saw pictures of interior for 2018 Honda Fit and there is a volume knob; yes, there is a volume knob. I'd assume Honda will bring back the volume knob for, hopefully, all 2018 models since almost everybody is complaining about it or missing it.
This Civic looks gorgeous!! I can out wait to own one. I'm so excited to get one and it'll be more car until the thing stops running. Which knowing Honda that'll be 300-600k miles later.
I got the same red one you reviewed last year! It drives great and just scored 130 mph on the highway without a speeding ticket 😃 Car drives like a dream ( a small dream I mean)
Good choice. Just got mine this past Saturday. I continue to be very impressed. I negotiated the $29,175 (US) MSRP to $26,900, which totally makes this top-level trim worth it!
Matt Shuster how did you manage to get the price down to 26k? I'm sorta just might go get a mazda3 because of the incredible deals they give me...24k with incentives. I could probably negotiate a bit more too. Hondas are impossible to get 4k off the sticker.
So many complaints about the looks of the car, and yet, everyone who I know personally who has seen my White Orchid Pearl Civic hatch thinks it looks great. also having owned the sedan and the hatch, the hatch has better rearward visibility. also yes the wheel volume button is no longer a slider, I actually am glad it isn't because I'd probably accidentally hit it when I don't want to, and I never confuse the temp control for the volume knob.
Neat review, Sofyan! I recently reviewed the Civic Hatchback in the EX trim, and it impressed me quite a bit. The Sport Touring that you choose to test seems like a pretty solid entry in its class, as well. Offering very competative performance, an upscale luxury ambiance, and tons of practicality. As always, keep up the great work, Sofyan! 👍🏽
Great Review Sofyan. I really like this Sport Touring. I agree that this should have a rear blind spot monitoring system and cross traffic being the top line model.
The manual also points out that the hatchback volume slider is only a button. Super weird, I thought mine was broken till I compared the manual from a sedan to my hatch.
My Honda Accord with the same engine actually simulates shifts a lot even when your just driving it normally and I quite like it to be honest. It gets insane gas mileage for what it is as well
Nice review. Not sure though why you think only younger buyers want AirPlay functionality. It's not like older buyers are asking for 8-track players (and they're buying a ton of Hondas).
Thanks for the reviews sofyan theyre really informative and i enjoy them alot :D . i actually have a few questions about the sport touring since im planning on buying one. So since this is the top of the line model does it come with a phone charging pad as well? or does it vary on some sport tourings only? also how does the sport touring feel compared to the sport you tested previously power wise?
They say we don't want the manual here. They say we're too lazy. However when American enthusiasts look for a manual they are only available on the "budget" model with zero features. Have mine in that exact color. I love the excellent mileage but kind of 50/50 on using premium fuel. Still it takes me two weeks to drain the tank which is cool.
Great reviews. I had a couple of questions though. I noticed your review of the exterior seemed a little critical of the HBs body lines compared to the more glowing review of the Type-R even though the Type-R is based on the HB platform. Did your preference change simply due to all the venting and large spoiler on the Type-R? Over-all how would you compare the HB Sport Touring to the Type-R as far as handling when the Type-R is in Sport or Comfort mode. Clearly there is a power difference, but does it feel like a completely different vehicle or does the Sport Touring feel more like a subdued Type-R?
What's the direct injection that is causing the ticking please (sounds like it needs a valve job from days of old)? Also, The exhaust sounds pretty good, I am buying a used 2017 now, so what do you think about changing it out to an axle back exhaust from Borla, or do you think it won't make any difference? Thank you?
