Thanks, I am considering purchasing this vehicle and first thing that came up was the guage wasnt working. When i took a second test drive, the guage worked but it took a bit for the fuel level to climb. They claimed it was the sensor, but watching your video has me thinking it may need a new pump entirely(?)

@@RTMota-yz8bs come by if you're local or try your highest rated independent mechanic. Its a pretty easy job that anyone with tools can do. You can even show them this video

I’ve had this replaced three times by mechanics. Each time it didn’t fix the problem. It was like they didn’t know what they were doing. I don’t know if it’s complicated but it’s really frustrating.
@@Holyhappiness you always have the option to work on your own car. If you feel the people you are hiring are not doing a good job then do it yourself or hire someone better
But why does the distance to empty say “_ _ _ “ if the gas meter works
I have a 2016 Hyundai Tucson with a 2.0L 4cyl. When I feel my tank the fuel gauge stops before the full line.?. What’s maybe causing it.?.
Possible... you would have to pull the hanger out and check

Replaced it like 5-6 mths ago and no it’s not reading the gas level
It just happened to me this morning i was like damn they got me . But then the gas gauge started coming back to full 😂
We found out 6 plus months ago that the gauge was broken when the car died on the way to work for my wife. Ever since then she has been using miles to read the intermittent gauge.
I got a whole new pump and going to have our shop replace it. One of the thing that I have read on reviews is that the sending unit fails even when new.
Why is the “Distance to Empty” showing blank still?
Because the car hadn't moved from that spot after the repair. Is this a problem you're having after doing the repair yourself?
@@FullDetailAutomotive mine is jumping up and down. I ordered the fuel pump and will be attempting the project this weekend. I got scared when I saw it was blank on yours but thanks for explaining it. Hopefully it won’t be too difficult for me to do 🙂
My gauge is stuck at 4 bars
What would a garage charge for this?
OEM pumps are 300 plus, 100 or so on amazon or other parts places. Shop rates are 25 to 200 per hour. Your rates will vary depending on where you live. I think this job is 1 hour.
Our shop we go to is really cheap, yet this is because its a coop that serves more than just auto repairs. Their guy is a certified mechanic so he gets paid regardless if there is something for him to do.
