I would like to add a little, HPS is not the same as it was, post 2000,HPS started focusing on making money and skyrocketed their fees, now it’s a place filled with rich brats who barely attend school because of their parents influence and have zero knowledge base.I was let into the school somehow although i wasn’t well off,but still they only let me in because of the money, Faculty there is now a bunch of pretentious idiots who pretend to uphold the school’s glorious name and it’s past reputation.teachers were ignorant and got away because nobody cared in the management about what went on,i left and joined a school far cheaper and far more helpful for my education and future.HPS that stands today,is just a business.thats their bottomline. How to be a good CEO 1. Don't be a lizzard man 2. Pay all your staff properly 3. Treat your staff how you wish to be treated. 4. Don't provide a product or service that you yourself wouldn't use. 5. Innovate
The problem, in reality, is rule 2 and 3 are in conflict. Rule 2 should be pay your staff something above market rate. Rule 3 should be don't involve yourself unless something's going wrong, and then only as a tie breaking motivator.
No i just think a company does whatever most works for it, and in a creative space, i think Adobe's approach is the best working approach. However this will fail terriblly elsewhere, think of an amazon warehouse with no clocks. Bad idea
@@kkknotcool dont get me wrong but a business is all incentivised to make profits, more profits and nothing else. The method it gets to that place doesnt matter only the end. And companies will choose what makes it fit best, thats all.
@@warrenarnold I think there are definitely rules to running a good/profitable business that are universal. For instance being as hands off with employees as possible while simultaneously showing objectives that need to be met and reviewing weekly/daily/monthly as needed. Also it's obviously literally impossible for every business to pay above average but higher profit businesses usually know how to get 25% more performance for 10% above average pay. So I would say all companies need to move in that direction when they can afford it, even at the expense of short term profits.
Most of times highly ambitious people usually care more about their goals and how to achieve them at costs. So they tend to become arrogant, egoistic and unempathetic.

Shantanu Narayen is one of the best CEOs on this planet ... He transformed Adobe from boxed software to subscription biz and also set a great example for entire software industry
Not to mention nowadays Adobe is best known for employee benefit and no wonder they like their CEO. I had done a little bit study on Adobe during uni, Adobe life seems decent.
i remember this guy straight up dodged questions about why it was cheaper to take a return flight to the US and buy adobe cs6, than it was to buy it in australia, there was a video here but it got taken down when the account deactivated
This approach by a corporate execitive is really benefitial as the video suggests but it has its downside in that some potentially good employees become lazy and less productive which may lead them to being laid of. Then in some African Countries like the one i come from these employees usually take such form of freedom for granted and that affects overall productivity in the company or organization.

You can watch his interviews. He just wanted to study economics and get a job at a bank. When the board asked him if he wanted to be ceo, he replied: only if you want me to. This isn’t to say that he isn’t ambitious, but he’s extremely open to go with the flow. Most CEOs and business owners are not like that. Most of them are extremely goal oriented and like to control as much of the process as possible.

Satya Nadella not being ambitious is a joke. He pursued MBA just because he was ambitious to grow in his career.
