#72, Petri Kontiola got such a big reaction from the crowd because this was his first champioship in his 21 year pro career: he's from Seinäjoki, a city on the west coast but he played his junior and early pro years in Tappara, then went on to have a brief stint in the NHL before coming back overseas and play in the KHL for an extented period of time before returning to Finland and Liiga with HPK Hämeenlinna and Ilves. Last spring after he won the bronze medal with Ilves he sorta retired, did some broadcasting work for a short period of time but was then signed by Tappara for the rest of the season as he expressed his willingness to make a comeback. And here we are, what really shows his character as a person is that he's also had to deal with some issues in his personal life, not gonna go to details about them but he was able to beat his demons, come a full circle and win the championship where it begun all those years ago. Obviously it was a polarizing decision to make a comeback after all the farewells last season and it recieved it's share of critique but Konna, as he's known, though never winning anything sicnificant before this has had such a huge role in Finnish hockey, being a long time trusted player for Leijonat, Finnish national team, that I'm confidend to say that deep down there isn't a single Finnish hockey fan who hates him despite all the negativity.

A tip for you brother. You should add more storytelling to these sports videos. I mean you could tell who are the star players and tell who have been drafted to the nhl so your canadian viewers have something to keep an eye on. People are more friendly and polite here than in the south. Great videos thank you for these☺️🤘

How the police approach it de facto is that you can drink in public as long as you don't cause disturbance or bother other people and deter others from using the public space. If you do so I believe you will initially mainly be asked to move along and stop bothering people.
Finnish Public law act says it's illegal to drink alcohol in populated areas in Finland. Police just let it happen if there is no disturbance to public like in picnics etc..

Vuodelta 2003 peräisin oleva järjestyslaki toteaa seuraavaa: _Päihdyttävän aineen nauttiminen on kiellettyä yleisellä paikalla taajamassa, rajavartiolaissa (578/2005) tarkoitetulla rajanylityspaikalla ja julkisessa liikenteessä olevassa kulkuneuvossa.

Loved your videos here in Finland. You need to come back next year playoffs, also maybe at some point in future check Finnish Lapland and Arctic circle and northern lights. We love you and your always welcome to visit again. ❤
It was nice to see you both at the arena! I can recognise myself from the stands 😂
You also have u18 world championship (including Canada) going on around Helsinki (Vanda and Esbo) right now, play-off starting today / Thursday May 2nd.
Leafs fan gets to enjoy championship once in a lifetime, some where else than in Toronto of course :)
After Börje Salming passed away, they arranged a charity game in his honour with the proceeds going to ALS research. It was Maple Leaf veterans against Swedish national team veterans, all players having played with Börje at some point in his career. After the game they interviewed Peter Forsberg: ”of course I wanted to win, but I’m happy for the Leafs players. It’s been a long time since they won anything.” 😂
Hope we see you guys next season 💙🧡
Well, after that, now you have another excellent oppornity to watch hockey: the U18 WC, which is just now going on in Finland.
Thank you and welcome again you are wonderful kisses and hugs 🥰
13:52 I was about to say, but you figured it out yourself. 😂
I think we are less shy around foreigners then with other Finns we don't know, or that's just me.
We kind of "know" you in advance, but if we tried to small talk a stranger it's generally perceived as weird, unless it's about something we have in common, like a hockey game for example.
Hopefully you will come back in next year finals to see our Ilves winning their first champion in 40 years.... maybe
Actually this is the Canada Bowl finals(the trophy is called "Kanada-malja" in Finnish, hence the name Canada Bowl).
Please go to the u 18 world cup game to Espoo. It would be fun to watch and I think that you also like it.
There are many players that will play in NHL.😊
Hope you'll be able to catch some games in Norway next season
Another great premiere video!! Please remember to hit like and subscribe. 😊
Maybe next year u can come back and visit every liiga arena in Finland. There's not that many of them in the end
SUMMER IS COMING!!!! WOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
Great video! Get to relive that game and moment again from new perspective. Were you at the party in the TORI the next day?
The only thing that makes Finnish men dance: winning in hockey.
Going to the central square for the party that starts at 1700?
Funny my last name is Lyga pronounced the same. Liga. Tho one possible history of the name is shortened from Lygith which apparently means one who drinks fast.
The classic "party" is to jump to the fountain and also people climb the statue. The statue has broke so many times that nowadays they cover it when they assume there is going to be a party. This time people climbed to the roof of the grill wagon instead as also seen in your video (and actually broke it pretty badly by doing so which was not nice to the owner).
25:46 Jari Kurri award (MVP playoffs)
Ooh tappara voitti ton 😮😊
I mean if we win mens world championship u guys have to come back to FEEL and EXPERIMENT those market square party's, tampere or helsinki !😄 (watch WTF: Welcome To Finland) That tell more than nothing what is coming
And also its probably our icehokey team most successful coach last jurney so BIG BIG party coming if He/They can win it last time for him!
I saw you there in Nokia areena
You should try to get an interview with fellow canadian Baptiste!
29:27 not illegal to drink beer.
* if it doesn’t cause harm to others.
It's is illegal.
Mahdollistaa nykyisen menettelyn.
A tip for you brother. You should add more storytelling to these sports videos. I mean you could tell who are the star players and tell who have been drafted to the nhl so your canadian viewers have something to keep an eye on. Without you telling this, it doesnt make watching too interesting for foreigners, just random players playing for them. A perfect example is pelicans goalie 20 yrs old Niklas Kokko, drafted at number 58 to Seattle Kraken. Will probably play in the NHL someday. Ps. Come to Oulu to watch Kärpät play next year. People are more friendly and polite here than in the south. Great videos thank you for these☺️🤘
You need to comeback to next seasons finals
He has said that he wsnts to come back.
@JetLagWarriors So what are you planning now? There's still U-18 world championships played in Espoo/Vantaa (cities next to Helsinki)
Isn't the home team goal song the same as Team Canada
Do you have an editor? These vids are crazy quick.
I (Steve) edit all of the videos myself
Awesome! Really loving these hockey videos @@JetLagWarriors
@@JetLagWarriors Nice and quick job then!
Too bad it was raining after the game.
Why is it called Nokia Arena? I think at least partly, because the once world famous Nokia Corp. was established on the banks of the near-by Tammerkoski rapids. True, t'was only later named Oy Nokia Ab (oy = osake-yhtiö; ab = aktie-bolaget) , after moving to the neighboring county(?) of Nokia, around 1867, I think...
Because UROS LIVE went bankrupt and they needed a new sponsor
You should come to Oulu, capital of northern Scandinavia. Latest next year, Kärpät are again champions 👌🤟🤘
how can buy tickets in sold out game :D somebody others tickets canceled or what?
Do you have any jetlag anymore,
seems like you emigrated to Finland.
29:23 illegal? When has it become illegal to drink beer in here? First time in my entire life I'm hearing about this.
It has been illegal maybe 20 years or so to drink in public. But it's not much controlled
@@jamisusijarvi646 It's not illegal to drink in public. Drunken disordely conduct is but if you're just having a few beers in peace the ploice don't mind

It is but the police doesn't care if you are not disturbing anyone or if there's lots of people drinking.
Kanada Malja is the finnish version. Nevertheless, good show guys.
You can legally drink in public in Finland
Did you guys was in gold party today?
reminder that the finals games are only ones they sold out on. Regular season games are so empty.
when you return to Romania?
You going to see now u18 world cup?

I am curious about Swiss hockey!! I would like to get there sometime, maybe next year!
Btw its not illegal to drink beer outside
OK! Thanks for this news. I must've misread / misgoogled it.

@@JetLagWarriors The law is a bit ambiguous. It says you can drink "in parks and other comparable public spaces" which leaves things open for interpretation. How the police approach it de facto is that you can drink in public as long as you don't cause disturbance or bother other people and deter others from using the public space. If you do so I believe you will initially mainly be asked to move along and stop bothering people.
Its not Finnish stanley cup its CHL
Nah, drinking outside is legal in Finland, no worries :D
Finnish Public law act says it's illegal to drink alcohol in populated areas in Finland. Police just let it happen if there is no disturbance to public like in picnics etc..
Ei ole laillista. 18v täytettyäni olin innoissani jotta vihdoinkin saan juoda olueni rauhassa.
Poliisista asiaa on kommentoitu mm. seuraavasti:
Next time please don't spoil the result in the thumbnail, I would bet there are a few of us here who didn't know the outcome. Not a disaster for me as I don't really care or follow Liiga but the video would've been better going in blind, ofcourse gonna watch regardless but just a request/suggestion.
Hmm, fair point. We weren't sure what to do in the thumbnail, we were thinking to put the trophy and the term Stanley Cup, as to maybe get some NHL viewers watching and promote the Finnish league to Canadian/ Americans, but, unsure if we made the right choice.
@@JetLagWarriors Oh right didn't think about that, yeah that makes sense from that point. Maybe we can make a mix of the two for next year, you are coming, right? ;) Anyhow, great video as always, thanks for the content.
