- Prawn Rissoles (Rissóis de Camarão) are a delicious contribution the Portuguese made to the Goan cuisine. These half-moons are part of nearly every catered house party! A moist Prawn filling cooked in a Béchamel sauce wrapped up in a soft pastry covered in crisp crumbs- they do make great appetizers :) So give this recipe a try. Also, it's time to get our cooking game up to welcome the coming festive season✨

Ingredients:
(1 US Cup= 240 ml)
For the filling:
150 grams Prawns (cleaned & chopped)
1/2 teaspoon Salt (for the prawns)
Oil, few tablespoons
3-4 Garlic cloves, chopped
2 medium-sized Onions, finely chopped
2 Green Chillies, or as per desired heat level
1 heaped Tablespoon Butter (Salted)
Crushed Black Peppercorns, as desired
1/4 Cup + 1/4 Cup Milk (it's better to add in batches)
2 Tablespoons All-purpose Flour (Maida)
Salt, to taste
For the dough:
1 & 1/2 Cups Water
50 grams Butter (Salted)
1 teaspoon Salt
1 & 1/2 Cups All-purpose Flour (Maida)
For the crumb-mix:
1/2 Cup Breadcrumbs
1/4 Cup Semolina (Rava)
Oil for deep frying

My husband had these at a Portuguese friend's place and he hasn't stopped raving about it. I usually make half moons with a chicken filling so I'm definitely going to try this. What is that sauce you are serving it with called?

Classic recipe is done with prawns,
However chicken can also be used in which case its called half moon pie.
Plain cheese without the sauce can also be used for filling.
Hello @mf r! Yes, Jesel has given some good alternatives to prawns. You could be as innovative as you like. Maybe even try button mushrooms!

Yup, Rimpi, you're right. Just plain mayo- I think it works well with the prawns. Perhaps, any mayo-based dip with added mint/coriander/garlic/chilli flakes would be a great combi.
