Was there any obvious external damage on the old chip? Burn marks, things like that. Just curious. Probably not...since most likely the original issue was a higher voltage being sent into the chip when it was expecting a lower voltage.
great video, always love a good fluxing video. as for turning the switch into a standalone console to leave just plugged into the TV, I would love to see you do custom cooling and see how far you can overclock that puppy... also having a way to insert game carts into it that is less bothersome than the way it is now. I'm not a fan of the spring loaded slots that the switch use. maybe something more in line with the SNES...
What i think would be a good idea is getting/making a custom case with a good cooling solution, and having it to run games with the max OC the switch can handle (cpu, gpu, ram) and compare it to the stock docked console :)
Hey spawn wave!!!! I don't know if you're gonna see this because this is a old video I'm posting on.... But I just want to say that my switch now has this issue From a first party dock... If a power control IC cannot handle Incorrect power flow... Then that part is faulty from the drawing board...
The connector for the ribbon cable that goes to the screen, is very easy to accidentally damage, when plugging the cable back in. You can bend some of the very fragile pins very easily, when plugging the ribbon cable back in, and so the screen won't work correctly, or at all, in portable mode. You won't even feel it happening. That would probably be the first thing to check, when you decide to give it another look over. :)

No you still can't. unless you make a custom shell and take out the innards of an official Nintendo switch and simply place it inside without modifying it whatsoever
Good question, I'm also interested to know the answer. I would summise yes as long as they have come up with a power sourcing solution for them as the switch does not conform to usb-c "standards"
Like the two other people above me mentioned all 3rd party docks are at risk of bricking your switch. The only one I know that doesn't brick your switch is the best buy dock
@@daredae436 Actually, I've been using the Jumpgate dock from Skull & Co. for over a month now and it's been working great. Those guys actually looked into what was causing the bricking and even posted a video detailing their findings. They also post a video for every firmware update the Switch gets to prove that their dock still works. They've certainly earned my confidence. I'm not saying you should get one or that it isn't risky, but as long as my Switch functions, I can say that the Jumpgate's the one 3rd party dock out there that's safe to use. I do wonder if Best Buy's Insignia dock still works, tho. I've heard literally nothing about it in over a year.
Switch. What is this switch thing? Does it work with gameboy? That just came out and I'm loving being able to play portable games. Such a revolution. 1989 is a great time to be alive. I can't wait till 90 to see how many games come out.
Good job on the recovery. I know you already covered the Joy Con Drift Spawn but using the Magic-NS usb adapter shows that the Joy Cons do not drift at all. I was wondering if you can look at the adapter as I think it might point to the Switch system itself is the problem when it receives the Bluetooth from the Joy Cons. I posted on my Twitter a video show how extra table the Magic-NS adapter is.
Everything I know about smd soldering I learned by watching Louis Rossmann's videos. BTW, did you check to make sure the LCD cables were unharmed and put back properly? It's very easy to miss that kind of thing.
Might be cool if you took all the internals out and made and fitted to the dock or a new housing and turned it into a console. Basically no screen. Think i would leave the joycon rails somewhere in the build, for charging purposes.
Next time if you have alignment issues, use lots and lots of flux, put your heat gun on top it and see how your component magically aligns itself. The wonders of silkscreen in action.
You don't need cloud to save, use homebrew :), btw what happens when you undock ? Is there still sound so it's just no screen or does it sleep or something ?

im the 420th like.... smoooke weed erraday, but on a side note. you are so dang informative. its really refreshing how engaging your videos are
Hope you enjoy finishing Xenoblade 2 now that you've backed it up!
@Spawn Wave
Does the docks are usable now after later versions? cause i see them everywhere still selling them.
I posted on my Twitter a video show how extra table the Magic-NS adapter is.
maybe it has bigger dead zone?
Everything I know about smd soldering I learned by watching Louis Rossmann's videos. BTW, did you check to make sure the LCD cables were unharmed and put back properly? It's very easy to miss that kind of thing.
Might be cool if you took all the internals out and made and fitted to the dock or a new housing and turned it into a console. Basically no screen. Think i would leave the joycon rails somewhere in the build, for charging purposes.
May have something to do with the light sensor in the front?
You really didn't want to start over with xenoblade chronicles 2
I need a link to the buying site for the piece that needs to be replaced
Next time if you have alignment issues, use lots and lots of flux, put your heat gun on top it and see how your component magically aligns itself. The wonders of silkscreen in action.
And of course after cooldown clean thoroughly with IPA or acetone since flux is corrosive.
And then I got @10:50 😂
You don't need cloud to save, use homebrew :), btw what happens when you undock ? Is there still sound so it's just no screen or does it sleep or something ?
Spawnwave is such a rookie. He forgot to use toothpaste.
You have the Home Version Switch now brah.
