Thai people have to turn to consume insects because of having an army of Patanga locusts destroying agricultural crops Thai people have therefore opened the operation. Caught a fried grasshopper and add spices Seasoned and fried. So it became evolution of eating insects and alien animals that will destroy the domestic ecosystem since then until now Patanga Army don't dare to fly through Thailand for decades.
Another great thing about train transport systems in Bangkok is the courtesy for the fellow traveling passengers, most people are very quiet on the train apart from tourists or groups who are not from the local. You will not get that hectic, rush chaotic feeling like in many capital city. People here will give up seat for those in need without thinking & this is nice😮We found majority of people normally just got their heads down on their phones.

I have been visiting Bangkok for many years. At times, I visit 2-3 times/year. You gave an honest review. If you didn't/haven't visited Bangkok before, you may not know how modern it is. Nice vid!
I'm Thai and living in the northeast.I last went to Bangkok twenty years ago and haven't been there since then. Bangkok has changed a lot, especially its infrastructures, I most mean roads, highways , bridges , super highways , express ways .I only see these from the clips made by Foreign You tubers .I like watching them. They can open my eyes to know the modern world and thanks to all foreigners to love and visit Thailand.
I'm in Bangkok right now. While I also like the BTS and MRT, give the buses a chance for an authentic view of daily life for many Thais. We've been using it daily and at 8-14 baht a ride - a huge bargain. Most of the buses are dumpy, noisy and great fun.

Yes, we did ride a taxi elephant to get to school or to work but after the serious traffic jam problem, the government had decided to cancel the taxi elephants and replaced with a metro system. I miss there taxi elephants too.

Best new year fireworks view is staying somewhere between Asiatique and Iconsiam on boat. You will see both side of fireworks. Very brilliant and very much neck pain 😅
You gotta trust the Thais, Mexicans, French etc - these cultures take risks with food and eat insects, ants, snails, frogs etc. It's not common everyday food as you suggest, it's definitely an acquired taste but they know what they're doing when it comes to cooking. These are 3 examples of objectively highly celebrated, world renowned cuisines that sometimes incorporate unusual ingredients in their food but that is part of how they developed their food to be so flavorful, balanced and delicious - constant experimentation over generations.

FYI Bangkok got nearly 30 billionaires and they are equally as wealthy as those in other major cities. Without tourists, the city is still huge with over 10 million inhabited its the economy of scale though just a few percent of people got extremely high income but the few percent out of 10 million is still a large number that's why there are accommodations for these people or anyone who like to spend. The middle class can't afford that in their everyday life but they can do it once or twice a week, that is still also a huge number thats how why u guys spot those luxury stores it not just that there are many more underconstruction and they never seem to be enough. Bangkok got a little bit of everything for everyone it start from different group of locals which benifit different group of tourist at least for now Im not sure about the future cause it's capitalism after all. Thats IconSiam mall they lure everyone to go in their space the cheap market on the first floor some time food stall at front once you go up you see a up scale price coffee with a very nice view then you probably think why not it expensive but not more than you can afford some people just gonna spend some money they are like Venus fly trap as u can see. For local one day u eat nicely in shopping mall next day you can eat cheap side of the road stingy rich people do that sometimes Id say.

Frogs are unfamiliar but people said it’s like chicken so i tried it. It’s ok for me but not something to look out for. The most exotic thing i like to eat is probably a fermented fish sauce.

As a Bangkokian living in London, I just love the fact that we can travel by the skytrain or even the underground in Bangkok with internet signals available along the way. It's so frustrating to lose internet signals on the London Tube every time! 😂😢
10 years ago when I was praticing English speaking. One western guy I met on Skype ask me what I do every weekend. I told him I spend my whole day at an department store. He said that a waste of time and I should better go somewhere like watching movies, bowling, or do some crafting stuffs. At that time, I said nothing but to agree because my English wasn't good back then. I really want to tell the man that we have all those activities he mention and a plus in every department store in Bangkok. We also have Ice skating hall, karaoke, 20+ restaurants, theme park and water park in some malls too. 😂 5 years ago he visited Thailand for his business trip. We didn't met but he texted me after living in the city for 2 days. He said why I've never told him Bangkok is a Modern city! 😂 I said well, it's already on internet. If you do care to do some research, you wouldn't talk to me like my country was an undeveloping for 10 years. 😅 Watch out an Asian who didn't talk back. Because that our way to show an eternal insult.
I’m working on my degree in the USA right now. The dumbest question I have been asked is “Do you ride an elephant to work?” I’m like… Bangkok is 1,000 times more civilized than your city. Well, I didn’t say that though lol.
It's not their fault my friend, Their TV just shows Thailand and Bangkok in that way. And that's always a good contents for the people over there noone wants to see how fancy the Thai skyscrapers people just want to see different things like nature, beaches, or tribe people who never saw a modern civilization tools or show about weird things like poverty or struggled life, it's just like nowadays you could make the famous content just buy M&M and give to the tribe people to eat and wait to see their reaction and the people really love it I have to say just like my favorite youtuber that already came to Thailand and bought some candy from the west at our 7-11 and gave to the Karen tribe in the north of Thailand and people from the west love it see it like by their imagination I have to say, but those videos for the Thai probably like a funny video because you guys known that those people they still live at their rural area but most of their kids working here in Bangkok they are not a tribe people that never saw a mega city probably saw a lot more skyscrapers than many people in the west because in the west they do not have a lot skyscrapers, Even the famous Thai movie like "Ong-Bak" by Tony Ja which made by the Thai they still shows the forest, the tribe, the poverty, the elephant and the vibe of the kind of struggled fighting life in the bar??that we Bangkokian never see or could imagine too and I am the one who has experienced and saw those things overseas before and just felt like What?? Why my lovely country was just like that Even one of my friends asked me how the Thai kids go to school?? Do Thai kids go to school by elephant? because many people over there just taught we are just like a little tribe where the people still use elephants, and I have to say even our government or the people who work about promoting Thailand they still promoted about our nature, beaches and forest too because it is the paradise where people wants to go travel even when they promote to the Thai people about travel they still love to present about pure nature too. That's a life my friend. Lol
Unfortunately lots of people that have never been to Thailand think of it like that. Not their fault, just how Thailand has been presented to them. I'm sure their are plenty of Thai people that have incorrect preconceived notions about parts of the world outside Thailand.

Since Thailand has so many ex-pats and tonnes of tourists from the West, thought it was common knowledge :) Guide books like Lonely Planet should have some upto date info about sky trains, mall, etc. Anyways, I love Bangkok and can't wait to go back.

As a Bangkokian living in London, I just love the fact that we can travel by the skytrain or even the underground in Bangkok with internet signals available along the way. It's so frustrating to lose internet signals on the London Tube every time! 😂😢

10 years ago when I was praticing English speaking. One western guy I met on Skype ask me what I do every weekend. I told him I spend my whole day at an department store. He said that a waste of time and I should better go somewhere like watching movies, bowling, or do some crafting stuffs.
At that time, I said nothing but to agree because my English wasn't good back then.
I really want to tell the man that we have all those activities he mention and a plus in every department store in Bangkok. We also have Ice skating hall, karaoke, 20+ restaurants, theme park and water park in some malls too. 😂
5 years ago he visited Thailand for his business trip. We didn't met but he texted me after living in the city for 2 days. He said why I've never told him Bangkok is a Modern city! 😂 I said well, it's already on internet. If you do care to do some research, you wouldn't talk to me like my country was an undeveloping for 10 years. 😅

I’m working on my degree in the USA right now. The dumbest question I have been asked is “Do you ride an elephant to work?” I’m like… Bangkok is 1,000 times more civilized than your city. Well, I didn’t say that though lol.

Who thinks of Bangkok as an ancient city of temples and history? It has been a modern, megacity for a few decades now. You just didn't know.
It's not their fault my friend, Their TV just shows Thailand and Bangkok in that way. And that's always a good contents for the people over there noone wants to see how fancy the Thai skyscrapers people just want to see different things like nature, beaches, or tribe people who never saw a modern civilization tools or show about weird things like poverty or struggled life, it's just like nowadays you could make the famous content just buy M&M and give to the tribe people to eat and wait to see their reaction and the people really love it I have to say just like my favorite youtuber that already came to Thailand and bought some candy from the west at our 7-11 and gave to the Karen tribe in the north of Thailand and people from the west love it see it like by their imagination I have to say, but those videos for the Thai probably like a funny video because you guys known that those people they still live at their rural area but most of their kids working here in Bangkok they are not a tribe people that never saw a mega city probably saw a lot more skyscrapers than many people in the west because in the west they do not have a lot skyscrapers, Even the famous Thai movie like "Ong-Bak" by Tony Ja which made by the Thai they still shows the forest, the tribe, the poverty, the elephant and the vibe of the kind of struggled fighting life in the bar??that we Bangkokian never see or could imagine too and I am the one who has experienced and saw those things overseas before and just felt like What?? Why my lovely country was just like that Even one of my friends asked me how the Thai kids go to school?? Do Thai kids go to school by elephant? because many people over there just taught we are just like a little tribe where the people still use elephants, and I have to say even our government or the people who work about promoting Thailand they still promoted about our nature, beaches and forest too because it is the paradise where people wants to go travel even when they promote to the Thai people about travel they still love to present about pure nature too. That's a life my friend. Lol

Unfortunately lots of people that have never been to Thailand think of it like that. Not their fault, just how Thailand has been presented to them. I'm sure their are plenty of Thai people that have incorrect preconceived notions about parts of the world outside Thailand.

Since Thailand has so many ex-pats and tonnes of tourists from the West, thought it was common knowledge :) Guide books like Lonely Planet should have some upto date info about sky trains, mall, etc. Anyways, I love Bangkok and can't wait to go back.
I was there 2yrs before "The Event" glad to see this beautiful city with it's lovely people have made it through. Love and enjoy all it has to offer.

bangkok has some extremely good restaurants, really clean city despite being so crowded, just avoid the malls :)

The only reason to go to malls is if you want to waste money on overpriced stuff or to use the free AC to cool down.
Why? Most Thai people love visiting malls! All great foods and convenients are there! Yes the price is higher but still affordable with all time ac!
