Love love loooove the video. Would love info on transportation. Did they provide one or which company did you guys use? We will be coming from Old town Chiang Mai with fairly large group of 9. Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you
@@BeaCreates contact them by phone or email. They can provide transportation there and back, at your cost. Probably around 2000 baht each way. I suggest staying there a night. Thai Glamping.
U2 are super fun to watch! Giving us tons of inspiration as we get closer to our multi year journey starting May 24th 🥳 Stay safe, see ya's on the road someday 😎
Welcome to Mae-wang, my home town. ^___^ Sorry for this month which is not good air at all. It would be good for tourism coming around September to December, the end of rainy season to beginning of cold season.
Chiang Mai was the capital of the Lanna Kingdom for at least 700 years. Some time the city was independent, but most of the time the City was a vassal state of various Burmese dynasties even right through the reign of King Rama I. When the British began to subjugate Burma and eventually abolished the Burmese King, exiling him to British India during King Rama IV reign, Chiang Mai was independent again but within a few decades, Chiang Mai King saw that Siam was beginning to exert influence to the North, the King decided to submit and even sent his daughter to become King Rama V's concubine. When Chiang Mai king died, King Rama V decided not to appoint a new king but put Chiang Mai directly under Bangkok's rule, sending a governor to govern Chiang Mai since then. Chiang Mai has it all, old town with several important temples, Wat Prathat Doi Suthep on 13 km up hill within 20 km from the city center and at the foot of Doi Suthep, there is Chiang Mai University, one of the four regional public universities in Thailand. The others are Khon Kaen in the Northeast, Burapha in the East (Chonburi) and Songkhla in the South. All four regional universities have all traditional faculties including Medicine and Engineering. There is an going project to propose Chiang Mai's old town as Unesco World Heritage within this decade. There is an annual Walk Up Doi Suthep about 12km trek held by Chiang Mai University to welcome new students. Along the way, there are bins to collect drinking water bottles/garbages manned by senior students. It is estimated about 20,000+ new and old students take part on this annual event held in May every year except during Covid. ua-cam.com/video/QgZ4QW2C1yQ/v-deo.html Wat Prathat Doi Suthep and practically all temples in the North and in Laos as well have two Nagas (mythical serpent-like beast living underworld) guarding the steps leading into the temple. It is believed that Naga King is the underworld ruler and is a devout Buddhist. Thus, sometimes you can see an image of Buddha meditating under Bodhi tree with Naga King guarding behind with his 7 heads above Buddha's head to protect him from wind/rain. There are also standalone Naga statutes along Meking River on both sides of Thailand and Laos, the most famous of which is at Nakhon Phanom with 7 heads. It might be noted that one of the largest royal barge of Thai King has 7-heads Naga at the front. The mortal enemy of Naga is Garuda (a mythical flying beast) which is supposed to be God Vishnu's mount. Indonesia and Thailand deem Garuda as high class mythical beast and Indonesia's National Carrier is named "Garuda". Garuda is also the official symbol of Thai King, thus official document would have Garuda symbol at its head. When there is an official royal announcement from the King or Palace, the initial TV screen features Garuda for a minute before the royal text appears together with reading announcement.

Shame you didn’t see (and show us) the place where those 12 elephants were sleeping because it’s kinda thermometer of the health and of how much (or not) they are loved by owners (=sanctuary). Really shame 😢😅
Thai proverbs and aphorisms about elephants Riding an elephant to catch a locust:- making an unreasonably large investment. Whole dead elephant, try to cover with a lotus leaf:- committing a serious offense, although trying to cover it up, it cannot be completely. Someone must know finally. Seeing an elephant poop, try to poop like an elephant:- imitating a big person or a rich person, although you does not have enough strength or ability. Sugar cane in the elephant's mouth:- something that have already taken and is difficult to get back.

Facts about Thai elephants Elephants have been associated with Thai people for a long time. In the past, we captured wild elephants for use. Hundreds years, our Kings fight on the elephant back. 50 years ago, Thailand still used elephants in the forest work or use it as a vehicle on a dense forest path. Thailand cancels forest concessions (Law to close the forest) for 30 years. Elephants have lost their jobs, so the owners change them to tourism business. According to Thai law, wild elephants have been protected wildlife for 30 years. You can't go into the forest to capture elephants. Elephants seen in tourism. They are domestic elephants. If I want more elephants, what should I do? It's like western people want horses to work on farms. They have to buy from other farms or mating. No one capture wild horses to use. To control a horse, western people use a rope/whip, but an elephant is big and strong with thick skin. Controlling elephant requires a chain/hook. That's reasonable. If the old horse can't work anymore, what do western people do? Take it and release into the forest or shoot it. In Thailand, elephant owners will take care of them like family members. Take care until death. Caution 1. Domestic elephants are often tame (like in this video) but wild elephants are awful, difficult to predict behavior, should stay away. We heard the news someone die from wild elephants every years. 2. The elephant's trunk is the nose that naturally has germs. And the elephant uses its trunk to pick things up instead of hands so it's not very clean. Hoping that no one will use the elephant to spray water on the Songkran water festival next week.
