- This is a short video I taped on 4 April 1990 of our old government Quarters in Benjamin Franklin Village (BFV) located near Mannheim, Germany. We lived in Building 283 Stairwell 32 in Apartment F from March 1971 to December 1973, while I was assigned to the 582nd Transportation Company (GS) on Coleman Barracks in Sandhofen.
WOW - was stationed on Sullivan Barracks in the 90’s and visited friends in BFV all the time. Great times and memories! I miss it even to this day!! Thank you for the video..
I lived at 61 E Washington Strasse from 1956 to 1959 across from the dispensary where my father worked. One of my fondest memories was walking to and from high school and stopping at the German kiosk by the OEG tracks to buy gummi bears. Spent a lot of after school hours at the AYA house with friends. Elvis was in Friedberg and Rock and Roll was what was happening. Thanks for sharing.
I lived in 61 A Washington from 81-84!
I lived at 275 Further strasse in Sullivan just in front of the PX and across from the gas station from 1994-1996. I used to go to the festivals in that parking lot and to the Top Hat club across from it. Best duty station I ever in 20 years. Had a ball. Miss it. Thanks for the vid.
My husband, John Hartline and I were stationed in Germany from June of 1971 until September of 1973. We lived off base for a few months and then were in officers quarters. We were in one of the three-level buildings, not the larger ones. Since it was just us, we had a two-bedroom set of quarters on the first floor. He was a helicopter pilot and he was assigned on the base. I can't recall what his unit was right now. It's interesting to know we were there a pretty much the same time. We kept in touch with one couple we knew when we were over there for many years, but haven't heard from them lately.
Look at the phone booth.. 😍 God I loved the 80's. I miss the good old times . I grew up in Frankfurt !
i wad there in 1984-to 1992. i miss it all. 574th s&s company. taylor barracks. i wish i could go back in time. i miss it all. :(
They renovated the Taylor baracks and they serve as a co-working space right now! Pretty cool since they kept the classic baracks look
When you first turned on Columbus Str, my apartment F., was facing the camera in that second building (306) on the left, first stairwell, on da 3rd floor.
When you first come the gate with the car. I lived in the second building on the right.
Columbus Street was my favorite BFV street. I lived on Jefferson Street, which was cool....it had a back pedestrian exit close to Buffalo Park
Was Jefferson Street a straight shot to the Elementary School?
Taylor barracks winter and spring 1969-1970. Went to BFV many times. PX and theatre. Can’t get enough of these videos.
And now it's all gone I didn't live there but drove through the area many times
