This album was huge when released in 1979, it had 4 great singles, “The Logical Song” , “Breakfast in America” , “Goodbye Stranger” and “ Take the Long Way Home” which you’ve just heard.
A Terrific Band. Classic sound, structure, performance and writing. Bloody Well Right, is another banger. Awesome, great choice, surprising harmonies. Great engineering as well . Full spectrum of sound, crisp edges. Love your reactions.
When my son was 15 (in 1994), he came in one day telling me about a song he had just heard & asked, "Have you heard of Supertramp?" I walked into my bedroom & handed him this album. He asked, "When did you get this?" My response was, "The year you were born." Great music lasts for generations.
They were absolutely huge when I was in high school, but I also absolutely loved one of their earlier hits when I was in grade school, Bloody Well Right. I still love that song so much today. It was on the radio all the time as well here in the Middle United States.
😄 We sure will! My hair stylist mentioned that he was getting into the music from the 60s and 70s. My trims became a music appreciation lesson. Poor guy spent more money on buying albums than I did on haircuts. lol
You, my friend, are not only a rock lover. You are a GOOD music lover, just like I am. Just like (I believe) most of us subscribers are. That's why we know that you should like this and others musics/masterpieces. Keep rockin. Peace 🖤🤘
Could not say it better. What I so enjoy is being reminded how good rock was when it was limitless. This may not be a band thats been suggested yet but i think Procol Harum - Whiter Shade of Pale Denmark 2006 will thrill you.
@@lesblatnyak5947 Yes, I would say this is pop music, but very seriously influenced by progressive rock. I think they might have started as prog rock and became increasingly more poppy.
Electric Light Orchestra is another great band with sooooo many great songs that I know you'll really like and enjoy. I can't wait for you to listen to them and do a reaction.
When you listen to Supertramp for the first time, or the second time, or ever, you shouldn't have any preconceived ideas about what to expect. Their lyrics are so smart and different and the musicianship is great. Congratulations on the growth of your channel, you deserve it.
You have to try Bloody Well Right by Supertramp 😎😎😎 I’m an old guy that grew up on this stuff (still have all my vinyl of much of what you react to) - really enjoy how much you are enjoying it.
Rock is WAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY more than your mind currently contains as an image! Lots more to go on the channel for content as you have only touched the TIP of this rock iceberg! You are doing a great job feeling what we love about this music. Grow with it. SPOT ON MOLLY BOY!!
I love how you're bouncing all over the place with your reactions! Epic channel lil' bro. I can't wait to see where else this journey takes you. I'm here for it!
Bro. The reason everyone knew you would love this is because you simply love good music. Period! Great reaction! Please check out their song “The Logical Song.” I know you will love it! Great reaction and thanks for the share. 🤓🤠👊🏼
Can't wait to see your face when you hear these guys. They're awesome but completely different than pretty much everything you've ever heard. Prepare yourself.
This 1979 album is the fourth in a 4-album streak of brilliance from this British Progressive Rock band (a little more Pop-friendly than most Prog bands, so you might hear Progressive Pop thrown around now and then). I recommend you start with "School" and it's companion track, "Bloody Well Right". They neatly flow into each other as they open Supertramp's legendary album, Crime of the Century from 1974.
Saw these guys live at an outdoor concert...at night. They had all the lights off then the harmonica came out of the dark... spine tingling...and awesome.🥰🥰
I listened to hard rock and metal growing up, never waivered... But my brother borrowed this vinyl and I heard it through his bedroom door, I was amazed. This whole album will grab you, and put you in a different place. Same with The Police's Synchronicity album. Well written songs with such amazing melodies will reach out across any genre. Incredible stuff.
You make me smile so much....when the music hits you and that look of utter bliss that crosses your face!! I have shared a lot of the music you have been reacting to and they LOVE it. They have been sharing with their friends too. Great music never dies when generations share! 😊
I'm 58 and seen the best of the 70s and 80's, hard Rock to even thrash metal and not surprisingly, all my friends and all the rockers I've ever met have gave props to Supertramp. Their musicality, talent and song writing can't be denied..
I think what you are experiencing is the same as us back in the 70’s and 80’s. SO much music coming at us from every direction. It was almost overwhelming, in the most excellent way. And I must say, it’s so much FUN watching you enjoy it!
British Progressive Rock, baby! You are going to love Yes. Start with Roundabout, then Starship Trooper, then All Good People. Then Awaken. Do NOT listen to Close To The Edge (the song) until you've heard these others. Trust me. 😊
This album was a beast - and still a must-have in your music library. Impeccable musicians, great songwriting, amazing vocals. You continue to impress me with your choices of music and artists!!
This entire album is phenomenal I'm sure everybody watching your channel has got it in one form or another you have a lot to check out and this journey and it's a great one enjoy I'm looking forward to it
Supertramp was part of the soundtrack of the early 80’s. They are such a great sound and style. “The Logical song” and “Goodbye stranger” are amazing from them. Hope you keep exploring this style of music.
From where you started to where you are now it is cool as shit to see that you have come to appreciate music as more than just sound. You definitely are appreciating talent and musicianship more than just noise in the beginning of your trip. The trip will continue for the rest of your life. That's the fun. Supertramp is as talented a band there was and they the sound the same live. Chicago was a similar band. Glad to see you've gotten here. Now to see where you go!!
People presume that you'd like this because you seem to appreciate good music and this is really good music!! That was a harmonica at the beginning and the end, and the other instrument in the middle that was kind of dueling with it was, I believe, a clarinet.
Im pleased you enjoyed Supertramp. They are worth a deeper dive and having watched as many of your vids as I have, I feel certain youll enjoy it all. Please keep doing what you're doing. I love it!
We know because we are not so different, just from a different time! Great music is great music and you can't get around the fact of that! I love your reactions to the music of our generation!
The genre has been called progressive pop, progressive rock, soft rock and a couple other variations. If I would guess as to why people would recommend this for your "rock" reaction channel is that we've seen you blown away by such a wide range of music from the era, and this is one more example of great music from the era. You have really come to appreciate true fine musicianship, composition and more over something just technically being "rock." Even with as many songs as you have reacted to I hope you know that so far you have only scratched the surface.
Right Where You paused it, yeah they had started to feature the Hammond Organ a bit more in the middle channel, and then you hit that outro vamp thing, and the clarinet kicks in, and suddenly the harmonica is back in your right ear, and then it plays between that and the organ in the middle channel, and then the clarinet rips it again in your left ear. It's just so well put together and so fun. And then he's doing things with his voice, and there's piano and percussion, and that great bass guitar line. It's just wonderful. This whole album sold really well and produced a bunch of hits. Another really fantastic one which was a huge hit, and it's a fan favorite and it's from this same album Breakfast in America: The Logical Song. I like how you pissed together things about the album cover, but also another really cool thing is that classic waitress image holding the plate up above her head? She is a playful reference to the Statue of Liberty. 😊

I really liked Cannonball as well
“Could we have kippers for breakfast, Mummy dear mummy dear? They’ve gotta have them in Texas, cause everyone’s a millionaire.”
A Terrific Band. Classic sound, structure, performance and writing.

Supertramp seriously underrated
Seriously not underrated!
Were fucking gigantic from the early 70’s to the mid 80’s.
They were huge in Europe
@@arnodobler1096 but lived in LA and helped perfect the “LA sound”

The "Logical Song" is an absolute must! Breakfast in America is another great track. Supertramp is very unique and the sound will stick with you.
Try "The Logical Song" next
While "Goodbye Stranger" is my favorite the opening to "The Logical song" comes a a close second
@@pudder68 Don't forget Breakfast in America. This album made Senior Year, the soundtrack. It's rock.
Oh yes!

How these lads are not in the Rock n Roll hall of fame I'll never know 😡😡😡
I’ve noticed that about most Prog. Rock bands. Took forever for Rush and Yes to get in.
Their absence from the R&RHoF is The Crime of the Century
Because the Rock Hall sucks, and I’m a Clevelander.
You are Bloody Well Right
The only person more deserving to be in the R&R HOF is Weird Al!
You have to try Bloody Well Right by Supertramp 😎😎😎

Bloody Well Right has one of the best keyboard intros ever. So much attitude in that song.
Yeahhhhh!! 👌
As mentioned above, Bloody Well Right has a phenomenal electric piano intro and it will more than satisfy your electric guitar needs.
