    Why do I always have to like the MOST expensive one???? 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️. That seat alone had me sold! Lol 😂

    Excellent video. That explanation was crystal clear. One feature that I noticed on the Scorpion is that it appears to include a "chain gobbler". That means that the boom length can be adjusted quite a bit without having to add or remove chain links. I have a non-electric Catrike Villager ($3000) and I really love it, but it's really a one-person trike. If you have to adjust the boom length more than an inch or so, you have to add or remove chain links. I believe it's possible to add an after-market "chain gobbler" to some trikes.

      Wow! Thanks. You have a keen eye. I don't know much about adjusting a boom length. Sounds like we should do a video.

      I noted the Terra Trike EVO also had a chain gobbler installed.

      Catrike has a chain tensioner available for around 150 that can be added to,any of its models to allow or boom adjustment and rider height without having to mess with chain alteration. Check it out on their website.

    If you compare high-end trikes with other forms of outdoor recreation such as a Jet Ski you'll discover the expensive trike is about on par with midrange Jet Skis' according to my research. The trike, however, is generally speaking rideable year-round and provides a greater degree of exercise, in my opinion.

    Even at 5K, they are out of reach for most people. That includes me. A step thru e-bike with a Bosch motor is 2.5K which also seems too expensive. But it's battery probably won't blow up.

      Yeah, those e-bikes can be seriously expensive, but safety first, right? Maybe we'll find a good deal one day!

    My similar high price "Hase" includes 2WD, Rohloff gearbox.
    Easiest by far, side-saddle on/off! Even if to/from a wheelchair!
    Run dog offroad, or.., pull a Wee One on snow on bicycle path!
    Once Rohloff, never again cassette!
    Most suspension under your torso and any cargo, and NOT under your knees! LOL!
    Single steer tire best for 95++% of all riders!
    25-inch seat height "Hase Lepus" here.
    Store vertically upright in your house/garage too.
    "Hase" does offer folding models too.

    The number of gears is irrelevant. What are the ratios between the high and low gears?

    • @RideandShineBicycling
      @RideandShineBicycling  2 місяці тому

      That Scorpion Plus e-trike has a gear range of 27 to 83 gear-inches, and the Terratrike has a range of 30 to 98 gear-inches.

    Catrikes do not make good Etrikes.. the frame flexes to much from side to side.. and coming down a hill on a curve that flex can make the catrike unstable (shimmy) making you feel like it could tip.. and the HP also have a tendency to tip/roll.
    After about 10k miles on two brands of trike: catrike and AZUB.. i would definitely choose the AZUB or ICE trike for E-assist machine.. The frames are very stiff and give you the needed stability on turns and rough roads.
    I chose the T-tris and added a Bafang BBSHD, and 2 batteries with t-cycle battery mounts. it is the perfect combination.

    • @RideandShineBicycling

      @@TheLionsDen72 I have ridden the Pocket, and 700.. i owned a Expedition for 2.5 years with many scary descents (around 4k miles)... i now own an AZUB T-Tris and love the stiff/stable frame..
      I had BBS02 on the Expedition ... i now have the BBSHD on the AZUB... I enjoy both, and feel more stable on the AZUB. Better frame.

    • @TheLionsDen72
      @TheLionsDen72 8 місяців тому

      I have an Exped as well. A 2017. I have hit speeds of just under 50mph on a few downhills, not any issues. I have taken some c9rners at high speeds also and no issues with the frame. I have found that the wheel tends to potatochip at high speed cornering. They seem to be much stiffer now since they have changed to thru axles on the big wheel models.

      @@TheLionsDen72 I live in pothole portland.. the land of bad pavement.. i experienced really unstable shimmy on descents on steep downhill that require turning.. I took it to the mechanic to have the toe in adjusted, but that didn't work... I do not experience that on the AZUB.... Glad you are having good feeling about the performance.. :). Cheers

    They are comparing apples to oranges here. The HP is an over-engineered trike made in Germany. There is a considerable portion of cost just in tarrifs and shipping it here to the states. Dont get me wrong, it is a nice trike, but so etimes, over-engineered can equal over complicated. Im not a fan of the Terratrike but the fact that it costs less doesnt make it less valuable.
    Comparing these two against each othere is very misleading. Recumbent trikes at the tier 1, top tier lvl should always be looked at for purpose not necessarily price.
    Doesnt matt if it cost $120 or $12,000, 8f it doesnt fit you properly, it becomes a big paperweight and a waste of money.
    As a recumbent rider, I always say to get what feels right to your body. Trike are about comfort and staying active.

    • @RideandShineBicycling
      @RideandShineBicycling  8 місяців тому

      You are right about looking for a trike that fits and feels right for you. This should be the number 1 concern. But It is fun to know the differences and what you can get for various prices.

  • @StandForFreedom1776
    @StandForFreedom1776 9 місяців тому +1

    lol. He is a sales person. IT's easy to compare a YUGO to a Lexus because the differences are so great. I like to see him compare it to say a CATRIKE. For 12K I should by a car. HP is well over priced and the differences do not make up the difference.

    • @RideandShineBicycling
      @RideandShineBicycling  9 місяців тому

      I think it really depends on your needs. It is certainly pricey. But the HP has the ability to add accessories for special needs, such as adaptive foot holders, hand rests, or walking stick locks (medical aid accessories for physical rehabilitation and therapy)

    • @StandForFreedom1776
      @StandForFreedom1776 9 місяців тому

      @@RideandShineBicycling they all can be fitted with everything you said just not straight from the MFG. Aftermarket parts are for every recumbent trike. Don't get me wrong, I would love to own an HP but the cost to manufacture the components vs the amount of profit they make is ridiculous. Catrike and ice both can be fitted with accessories to help disabled people or people like me with back neck and knee issues. Both also have a high sitting seat and if I remember correctly catrike or ice you can pick the style seat you want. With HP you are paying also for shipping and duty tax from Germany.
