  • The second of the two challenging scrambles on the Salomon Glen Coe Skyline race route, Aonach Eagach.
    It was incredible!!!! Aonach Eagach is a Grade 2 scramble traverse requiring a good head for heights, solid mountain sense and basic climbing skills.
    Many thanks to Salomon endurance athlete and winner of the Ben Nevis Ultra 2017 Donnie Campbell for the essential guidance and information on this epic route. For Donnie's coaching and trail running camps visit his website: www.getactiverunning.com

    Well done Claire, especially in the wet, I went across in a dry non slippy day and was still pretty "twitchy" in places but a great place to find your head for heights :)

    Suddenly, Crib Gioch seems little more than a hands-in-pockets stroll - and it's not. I am seriously in awe of anyone who does AE.

      I live in New York (15 minutes from the Appalachian Trail!!), but my wife brings us to europe several times a year. I'll see if we time a time trip to coincide with a race in 2020. @@wildgingerruns

    Done this walk/climb a few years ago.biggest nightmare was coming off the climb onto the old Glencoe rd and being attacked by the midgies.
    Still a guid few beers in the Clachaig brought me back to normal.

    I felt a bit queasy with the ridge shots. Great film and beautiful views! ❤️

      Wild Ginger Films thank goodness .. there’s hope for me yet. I can do a bit of climbing wall stuff but it looked so precarious with the GoPro up there.. my head was spinning. Currently binge watching all your stuff incase I ever get fit enough to do one of these epic trails.

    You are a tough mountain runner, this would definitely be outside my comfort zone. Great production! Sound was good, but i wonder if you normalize the sound- might make the dialogue even more "leveled".

    The ridge shots stress me out 😂 I always think the gopro style shots make it a lot worse. I need to go up there and check them out for myself.

    Is it advisable to do scrambling in traditional trail running shoes or do you need special scrambling shoes?

    • @wildgingerruns
      @wildgingerruns  Рік тому +1

      Hi Bilal, I scramble in my usual trail running shoes, they just need to be grippy and not slippy on he rocks :)

      @@wildgingerruns Thanks, I am planning on doing some trail running along with grade 2/3 scrambling in wales (in the same day and hence don.t want to carry rock climbing shoes too). Do you think it is better to go for trail runners with longer lungs or shorter ones when scrambling? Also, what do you think is grippier between the Topo Mtn racer 2s (vibram megagrip, 5mm lugs) and Inov trailfly graphen grips (4 mm lugs)?

    I'll correct him in answering this question lol. "Is it going to be dangerous?" Yes. Yes it will be dangerous. Very dangerous.
