I'm mad, man. This year was the best skateboarding of all of time. ALL of these dudes are SOTY: Nyjah, Louie, TJ Rogers (did it with a death note), T-Funk, Spanky, Tyshawn. All deserve it, but this list is in order
At the end we as the a skaters won we got to see amazing skating this year and I’ve only been skating for about 2 years but it’s seriously so inspiring seeing everyone skate so differently and unique I love skateboarding
Louie did T Funk’s ender in the middle of his part.. Just sayin Edit: Louie’s was a bs 5-0 not fs, on a shotgun rail… I hate to say it cuz I’m not a fan of his, but Nyjah should’ve got it fr.. Everyone’s parts were crazy dope, but Nyjah’s “Need That” part was straight up historic

Jon Oohwee is a sick name. It reminds me of muay thai class. Everyone screams "ooh-wee!" when someone lands big kicks. Everyone cheers their teammates on the whole time. It really helps, mentally, to keep something brutal fun and light. No one really gets too upset when everyone is having a blast. It's part of the formula that keeps very hard sparring pretty safe. U also dont really blast someone in the head in sparring. Other than that, pretty full leg and body shots if you're interested in that. I see similarities in kickboxing and skating. I did both, but really didn't skate seriously for more than a couple years. I chose the other. In both arts: you take a major ass-kicking to your body every day. But it's what you love, so you can find it inside you to keep trying to. Now, I'm in my early 40s and i kinda want to start skating again. My knees are still trashed. Back, shoulders, arms. I decided that skating was dangerous to me because I never hurt myself in fighting, baseball, or football. But i wanted to push the same things that my friends were doing. They skated all day while i usually was too beat from practice to even push around. I tried something i shouldnt have and screwed my back up. I ended up not playing foorball anymore, either, from that. It's long enough ago that I don't see as much negativity in it anymore.

And send it down a huge mile long hill on skateboard, where at the bottom he hits a dilapidated bus stop bench thats sloping like a kicker ramp, ramps over texas(the entire state) lands on a parking block somewhere in new mexico, blunt slides it and wall rides down its side. W wild in the streets by the circle jerks playing. 👉 T Funk.
It's funny when skaters call citizens using the sidewalk unruly LMAO but not the random white man in tattered clothes who reeks of beer and weed trying to stop you from going on your way in the middle of your day unruly. Gotta push boundaries somehow, it’s a risk/reward, the skaters throwin these dangerous tricks down see that their reward is greater than the risk. They know the risk, it’s their decision to throw themselves down the things they do. They do it cuz it’s fun, not for validation from others

I dunno if this was a joke but if you're talking about ones where failure prob means death or career-ending injury, I agree. I would rather watch Andy Anderson making up creative tricks than watch whoever trying to jump over whatever huge stair set or jumping a gap between buildings or whatever. It's skateboarding with the same mindset over and over. Go big and scary dangerous. Go big and scary dangerous. Over and over. It's not creative or stylish, it's a circus trick. I like circus tricks, the circus is fun. But it's not what I love about skateboarding. Recently watched a vid where the Powell guys were skating a railing over an overpass where if you fall over, you're probably dead. Accidents happen, they're inevitable. I don't want some skater dying just to give a UA-cam audience a cheap thrill. Why do 50-50 grinds on a rail over an overpass when you could do the exact same trick without the risk of death. The skating is the same, and I'm not watching to maybe see somebody die.
